Dueport reacted to RAV in Snap VS JoshAI
    Summary of the suit:
    1. We paid 10 million for Neeo, and integrated their people. Designed a new version.
    2. Their primary people left us and started a competitor using our tech, in violation of an exit agreement.
    3. Copying our design to the point of quoted comments it’s the same thing.
    4. We told them to stop integration to our platform and use of trademarks, they stopped the promotion but Snap was forced to break the integration.
    5. Josh AI and Control4 had agreements to work together to integrate the two platforms, including software. (including no working behind and around our backs)
    6. Knowing all that AVA and Josh AI got together
    7. Releasing the Josh Remote
    8. Both remotes are copies of our patents, tech, design, and confidential property
    9. Bad blood, Josh AI had an agreement to have dealers buy from Snap, Josh circumvented. Made other agreements with a buying group, refused to accept product back, and finally bought back at 50% off.
    10. We asked nicely, now were suing.

This is exactly why I still prefer the older SR remotes to the Neeo.  I need to be able to use the transport controls without looking for when I watch sports as I ride the FF and SkipFwd buttons constantly when watching sports, which is 90% of my TV watching.

Outs or not, I just hope that Josh will be supported by control4 or Snap going forward.  I had this put into my house a year or so ago, and find it really opens the system for use.  My wife was not a huge fan of control4, found it confusing at times.. she loves just being able to tell josh to 'play music in the backyard', or to turn off all the lights in 5 minutes and not have to go to a touchscreen and mess with the hierarchical controls to adjust the 7 thermostats we have in the house.  using alexa or even siri, which we did for a time, is just not the same.

Yes that's right. I use it. Works like any other native music service, normal grouping etc. Autonomic is good about firmware updates, it's new for them and they're consistently improving it. CalmRadio is great for background music too.

Yeah it's all a matter of perspective. As part of a $100k+ proposal it's acceptable if someone is hardcore on Apple Music or Spotify without switching apps or having full control via a touchscreen where you can't. Cost per stream goes down also as the AMB supports two streams. It's not for everyone but it's an option for those that really want that functionality.

Having now used the integrated Tidal for about a week, I regret not moving over from Apple Music a lot earlier. Even my wife has commented of the easiness of the integrated music service and how she prefers it over the old way. All the time spent moving playlists was totally worth it. Even though I get Apple Music for free through Verizon, I have no regrets about paying for Tidal.

We have 2 cars, one from 2012 and one from 2016, neither with CarPlay. Though I’ve rented cars with CarPlay and SiriusXM and Pandora work too with CarPlay.
We do not have Apple One, my wife and I each just pay $3 or something a month for iCloud storage and we do on/off with Apple TV subscription based on our watching habits.  Though I could see for a family with a few members that could be enticing.
I get $20/month off Sirius with Amex Platinum so im paying pennies for 2 cars + online streaming and Pandora is maybe $55 or $60 a year versus $20+/month so  over $240 a year for Apple One.
HQ streaming to me isn’t worth a premium.  I have one room with a very nice set up, the rest is in ceiling speakers or working in my office listening to some bookshelf Klipsch speakers.  And i rarely listen to music in my nicer set up room as its the living room, so its mostly TV viewing. HQ, High Res, etc, its background music so really not a differentiator.  Half my TV’s still aren’t 4k because I mostly watch cable TV and almost nothing is in 4k - I am a very old curmudgeon for someone in their early 40s!

With the starter kit you can figure out which wall jack goes to what port in the switch and you can also test that full Ethernet run to make sure the cable is terminated properly and not broken

Well a remote dealer cannot help run wires, install wall plates, test wires, etc.
You can get some simple basic Ethernet testing devices off amazon and test each wire.  On the back of the 24 port switch the cables dont seem labeled.  Example - the cable going into port 17, do you know what room and which jack on the wall that powers?
the troubleshooting you can kind of do on your own if you are up for the challenge.  It’s not rocket science with some cheap sub $100 tools.  To me, if someone has dozens of Ethernet runs in the house, these testing tools are almost a required tool like a hammer and screwdriver to have in your house.
This is what I have and it has helped me diagnose issues.  It could be as simple as the wall jack isnt even hooked up to anything, or maybe they didnt crimp the ends well and 1-2 wires are twisted, or maybe something like a mouse eat through the wire in the wall, who knows, but testing kits help

Definitely interesting to see the relationship with Control4 and Josh get a little more murky. I think we already knew that with some of the sales agreements for dealers changing, but their big partnership with Ava, which obviously isn't compatible with Control4 due to Oberholzer's ties to it, for their remote and not having heard much about integration with the Halo remote is telling

The Intelligent Areas works great.  Just updated mine in the portal and can voice control thermostats in common shared zones just as advertised in the video and something definitely welcomed!  Tried out the JoshGPT on the Micros and iOS app today and it's definitely expanded functionality.
The remote was something they kind of glanced over but at this point I'm committed to the Halo's having bought a a few non-Touch units and eagerly awaiting the Touch ones.  Hopefully the Josh voice integration with Halo will come soon.

Looked pretty cool - JoshGPT is a huge addition. Like ChatGPT you can’t trust what it says all the time but it is a very important upgrade because the lack of general information that Josh could do before made it frustrating sometimes if you’re used to Alexa or Google. This now takes it far beyond that. Very cool that you could add it right away - currently away from the house but I opened the Josh app and enabled it and it is working very well - light years above the rest already! Some other good additions to setup like zones etc which should be nice to refine the experience. They’re doing great work!

Did the same thing myself - we have three of the OG matrix amps and a 24x24 Triad AMS and never had a problem - works like a charm

I know I am a bit late on this, but why are you giving up on the older C4 matrix amps?  I have a bunch of the C4-16s.  They are still rock solid.  The next gen of C4 amps had a lot of problems but the older C4-16 and C4-8 were very solid and had the advantage of being matrix amps.  But one downside to the C4-16 is that it didn't have digital audio inputs.

I agree, the original amps are pretty good.  I still have my OG matrix amps, but I've never used them as matrix, since I also had a 16x16 matrix switch.
I did get rid of my original audio switch to put in a 16x16 Triad AMS, which is nice because it has a lot more controls and functionality than the original switch did.

I don't think this is something you can set via settings on the DS2 itself or on the Properties page of the driver.
You can, however, attach code to the Phone button, and have that code cause the Intercom driver of the DS2 to make a group call, the same as the main button being pressed.
The name of the event for the 'Phone' button is 'Off-Hook' key pressed, and the programming you want to do is 'Start a group call', with the group selected in the dropdown as whatever phone group you want to send the call to (usually 'All').  The 'Start a group call' command is found on the commands page of the Intercom driver part of the DS2, not on the main DS2's commands page.

I like how dealers work with hunter far better. With Rachio i've had problems over the years. The last, when i sent the email out for access the person never got it. Nothing worse than trying to figure that out when they show up.   Now Hunter was really nice. You just go into the menu and pick your dealer. The dealer had to pre-register with hunter.

For the expansion, there are snap-in modules that allow for the expansion of zones, it's really a nice feature and can keep the cost down if you don't have a lot of zones. I had to order 2 modules to get to the number of zones for me.
My only disappointment is flow meter. This thing is a superior piece of hardware. And unfortunately, it's a bit expensive, especially if you need a wireless adapter (which i do). For the flow, I asked my guy to quote the installation and it would have cost me 3X more than the controller. (I did the controller install). So no flow for me right now.    I continue to search for a way for Hunter to read the rachio flow meter......

PS.....make sure they run the right cable for hunter's flow meter, you can't use the typical sprinkler cable or tap off existing cables. Also needs to be horizontal on the install.

I just switched from Rachio to the Hunter Hydrawise
Rachio comes off as much easier to set up. But i do like the Hydrawise Now. If you have a service, it integrates better with them so they can have access and also provide schedules remotely.
The Hunter meters that integrate are on a whole different level than anything with Rachio. Unfortunately, you'll end up paying more for flow meters than the Hydrawise console.
Integration into C4 was simple. I created a couple of favorite buttons that when pressed do watering in that area outside the schedule.
Personally, if you have Rachio, i wouldn't change it. My rachio controller blew up, so i gave the Hunter a try. The hardware if far better, the software is also very good, but rachio is maybe a step better and a bit easier.
