  1. You would lose that bet if you change the text to 'a lot of C4 users after a few months'. You'd be surprised how quickly people 'forget' that habit. And this will be true ten times over for younger generations. My kids have no idea what 'point the remote' means. REALLY they don't.
  2. Agreed - it would be NICE but it doesn't make the priority list. No less eager to try out the new harmony piece/PDP piece for PS4 though - biggest thing is power on/off control (and then primarily power off so kids don't leave things on). Also agree fully that the compaint there is to the manufacturer - while yes C4's goal is to have as many options as they can, closed systems aren't C4's responsibility open. Unless it's Hollywood Again agreed - I've just seen poor implementation on the DEVICES, primarily on receivers. That said the reason I prefer serial when/if available for 3rd party devices (when reasonable - ie video switches or receivers) is because it DOESN'T rely on networking.
  3. Errr. WTF are you talking about. Yes, we really should just hack everything right? When 99% of things that have Bluetooth ALSO have IR or IP or serial, or any combination of some or all. By C4 you mean? er....again you are really just pulling crap out of thin air My one daughter is watching TV right now, My son is playing PS4. I', listening to music, my wife is as well elsewhere in the house. My other kid isn't using the 'system' right now, other than turning the lights on from her tablet to play in the basement. Stop assuming and accusing WAP. Based on what WAP? Feel free to pass on USEFUL information WAP. Drunken rants on Hollywood, HDMI and unsubstantiated and referenced assumptions and accusation however are neither 'feedback' nor 'useful'
  4. Because you cannot support every possible stack out there. Sony WILL NOT allow the PS4 unless oficially licensed for example - why do you think it took YEARS for Harmony to get a device and even then it took a 3rd party?
  5. You mean why isn't there direct bluetooth connectivity in the software. Because of it's extremely limited use.
  6. I'm trying to get the device itself, haven't found a way unless I order out of the US yet.
  7. Yep. I do not know nearly enough on the QS integration to know if it would work, or could be made to wirk relatively easily but if it integrated with QS, and QS integrates with C4.....
  8. It's a bit of a 'test' mind you - I've seen weird issues with C4 being (partially) down if internet is down, and suspect it may have to do with the new internet time server option which is activated by default (eventhough legacy is marked as default). Do post if it fixes it for you or not if you don't mind.
  9. Using system manager, connect to the controller and set the time keeping option to 'legacy'
  10. That's the point though, a single room is easy, but once it becomes device after device - are you going to have all do the same thing in each room? But hey if they are engraved they'd just be another option, and a nicely designed one. Except that they aren't an option, because they can't be integrated
  11. But how would you engrave for the gestures? For 4 single buttons, sure.
  12. Hmm looks like a great demo piece, but I'd be curious how well it would work once you have 20 or 40 of them in a house, as you'd have to remember what each and every one of the possible touches or gestures actually does on each and every button? Love how they say they want to 'keep it simple' but unless you do each one exactly the same in every room, with no way of engraving them I don't see how it's any 'easier' than a normal keypad, quite the opposite? Very nice design though. At any rate, I do not believe any are available. That said, it would appear it's actually based on KNX, and has little to do with Crestron as such - KNX HAS integration available into Control4 - so it may be possible to do that way. Mind you it looks these have been around for several years already - so if it hasn't happened yet... Could also have to do with the fact that it's all based on european sizing which, in the end, is a smaller market to begin with. The loxone one is really just a 5 button keypad, that's just touch sensitive vs pushing a physical button - meh.

  14. Or get a Steam player for that matter. The point is that it's an incredibly powerfull device with lots of option and is arguably (hard NOT to argue it actually) the best quality AndroidTV out there. Why buy a good watch if you can pick one up from a dollar store. Why buy a Mercedes when a Honda gets you from a to b just as well. Why get a computer when you can do it all on your phone. Different people will want different devices.
  15. Which has sold millions and people want it to be controlled for turning on off and video playback control - I don't say there SHOULDNT be an ATV driver either, just that both have a pain to control, and at least there IS an ATV driver I've had a dozen requests to get a PS4 into the system just this past 2 weeks.
  16. I think what ISNT clear is whether you need to have it plugged into an AndroidTV/Shield?FireTV to USE the IR output (from what I see/read yes you do, but it isn't clearly stated as such).
  17. Now if we could get that expanded to control a PS4 I'll start buying these by the crate
  18. That's NOT how I would read the first quote
  19. Except that the HC1000 had ZERO i/o. And yes relative to the rest of the generation it was FAR superior. Frankly systems running on an HC500 or 300 could easily start seeing slowdowns in control etc, whereas the HC1000 never had an issue running a system regardless of size. Of course, the 800 already outclassed it and while I've seen no index comparison as stated, I would expect the EA1 probably has a higher rating than the HC1000 if compared in a similar way. 'Course your average KIA these days will leave even the best vehicle from the Model T days in the dust in speed, acceleration, safety, cargo space and comfort. (the T wasn't exactly top the bill - it's recognized for being the first affordable vehicle, not the BEST vehicle of it's time, though arguably the more reliable, say like a Honda Civic )
  20. As per above, the 300 was released WELL before the HC250. And the 300 was never 'higher end' either. The 'line' of the time was 200 300 500 and 1000. For all intends and purposes the 200/300/500 weren't specifically 'better' and more or less on the same field. The difference lay more in the number of i/o and existence of an internal hdd or not. the 200 was a BIT weaker but not by much to the point that they had the same index level - the 300 and 500 were essentially the same device as far as processor etc was concerned. It was only the 1000 that was a real 'master' controller intended only for the larger systems. The HC250, while arguably a replacement for the 200, is in all respects far more capable than anything than the 1000 from previous gens. Off the top of my head, the HC200,300 and 500 were all indexed at 100, the later HC200b/300c at 130 the HC1000 at 1000. The hc250 was indexed at 500 while the HC800 was 1800. These were rough index number meant for quick comparison only and certainly are not all-telling (for example the HC250 acted faster for audio server processing than the hc1000 did when used as a main controller) but it gives you a bit of an idea on their relative 'power'. No I do not remember seeing a similar index report for the EA series before anyone asks.
