  1. Hmm. Well, strictly speaking, this could feasibly be done fairly accurately done automatically - simply basing it on chapter length - I've played with a few media players and desktop software that could use this ability to automatically skip to the main movie. Heck, AnyDVD has the ability to automatically remove these based on the same info. Not saying the Oppo would have that ability, but it wouldn't require a person manually mapping everything..... That said, great work as always Alan - now I just have to wait 'till Christmas day and see if Santa got my last minute letter...
  2. PS button isn't mapped, though it's there for custom button use. Back, off the top of my head, is on the prev button, could have been cancel too.
  3. If it's worth it - that's up to you, and it wouldn't be 800 in most scenarios, it would be 800- alternate cost - wallmount The app isn't BAD - but it isn't GREAT. There is a noticeable delay in loading things, not terrible, but it's there. TS - instant. No it won't always be there. It will happen that the app closes, you use another app...and so on. TS is JUST the C4 interface. It's just not quite the same. Again, I'm not trying to convince you to buy them as such, just pointing out the advantages. It's your call to make from there.
  4. Total? -Wall Mount Living/Hall (One mentioned above) -Wall Mount Office (Probably the most redundant, occasional intercom use) -Wall Mount Master (Could do without especially since adding a portable - this will likely move to front door for music control garage and front as well as security)) -Wall Mount Theatre/Basement (just outside theatre door which is also right at the stairs leading down - Similar scenario to the first one) -Wall Mount Deck Door (also used a lot, to select music out there) -Portable Living (would be used more but not a great place to put it since furniture changes) -Portable Master (Used a lot) -Portable Theatre (Also well used) -Portable Kitchen (purely there because of intercom and camera view while cooking, and because I had it (V2)) As for what I would recommend? One per floor wall mounted in the most high traffic location. Plus one each (wall or portable depending on scenario) for the biggest movie viewing/music listening rooms. For me if I had to do 'essentials' only (remember that I have a lot because I tend to upgrade a lot, re-utilizing screens elsewhere) I'd probable have one per floor wall mounted centrally, one at the deck door (we spend a lot of time in the backyard) and one portable for the Theatre. Preference would be adding a portable to Living and Master to the above Note that I could do without screens in other TV locations because I do have onscreen available at every TV for movie selection. Apps for me are purely used outside the house unless I'm testing for issues. It's just slower, and as I mentioned, my phone goes out of reach once I'm home - I'm "connected" enough all day thank you very much.
  5. C4 Touchscreen advantage: -Always on C4 -Faster (even then on an ipad Pro with no other apps added). This comes into play in particular if you have large movie or music databases you want to browse) -They are 'always' there. Especially wall mounted one, but event he desktop versions aren't going to be taken for any other purposes (ie charging, gaming) -Not dependent on underlying OS, so not affected (or broken) by changes made to andriod or iOS updates Now whether or not these advantages apply to you, you find important or not is your own decision. I have several screens in my own house, and they get used ALL the time - I never use the app on my phones or tablets unless I'm testing things. For me, my phones go on my desk once I'm home. I don't carry them on me all the time, so they are just not conducive to use. More so - the 'wife' factor. My wife nor kids (yet) will go and get a phone, tablet or otherwise out to control anything - yet they'll walk up or grab a dedicated TS all the time. I'm not saying fill your house and every room with screens, but having a few C4 screens in well-thought out locations can be a huge improvement over tablet use. I'd say my one TScreen location I implemented years ago that is on a narrow wall that is at the centre of my house, at the nexus of my kitchen, dining. living and hallway to bedrooms is the single best individual thing I've done for my personal C4 system. That screen ahas be replaced (upgraded) 3 times now, going from 7" to infinity edge 7" to V2 7" to T3 10" - not a single regret.
  6. And no-one else that has told you it'd be a useless feature do? I can tell you one thing, if I were to base your 'knowledge' on how your C4 system works in 'the real world' on the idea that a built in IR blaster would give you any function whatsoever - it would rate at zero That things go wrong - no-one's denying that. That it would be a valuable, or even a functional, addition - oh it sure can be denied and argumented against VERY easily.
  7. And for the record - my point was, and should perhaps have been specifically spelled out for some peoples understanding - that yes - by all means develop it if you can at all, no-one can predict how well it would 'sell' (see VoicePod) but I'm sure there will be interested people.
  8. Errr... Calm down dude. Do you get a kick out of blowing things out of proportion? And no - I'm not going to cease the way I've done things on here. The fact that you seem overly eager to take a comment completely and wildly out of proportions is not going to change that.
  9. Of course, the vast majority of people haven't invested in that at all
  10. Please also check your DMX decoder's rating - it's easier to overload a driver than a decoder, but decoder do have max ratings as well - both per channel and total. Or similar - there's numerous other manufacturers that make the same product, or alternatives that don't come with a pre-sealed powercord but proper connection terminals (that get closed off on the PSU to code standard) allowing for a custom (longer) powercord to be attached that you can either plug in, or (better) terminate into a junction box. Though when in doubt, Meanwell is an easy go-to.
  11. What properties, if you mean the order in which things are set in the XML file - then it's possible to do this within the editor by opening the xml - it's built in 'xml editor' is poor though - or I should say, i simply prefer using notepad++. You can have the project open in both, DriverEditor will see when changes are made by an external program and reload. And as the test comes back fine pretty much 99% of the time on my drivers, it's not that much of a chore
  12. notepad++ ftw. DriverEditor is used to do a check, maybe edit version numbers etc and if needed encrypt afterwards.
  13. It's not THAT simple actually (not sure what I am in fact allow to say on the subject) but no, service -as such- is not a deciding factor. DISservice however can be an influence, C4 has a department for the end-user to turn to.
  14. In the end it will depend on what you use now. A few options are 'lost' in that direct programming is not available. This in particular pertains to the loss of the ability to send keypad number presses in programming, and direct programming based on keyfob buttons. That said, you get most functions you'd use numbers for back in direct button presses, and while direct keyfob presses are gone - this can still be done via the security panel itself (program the panel to trigger an output based on the keyfob press, sense that output and program from there, or if you used keyfobs to d specific tasks on arm/disram by that 'user' - you assign a keyfob to a user, and program directly fro the user arming/disarming. There's no doubt the new driver works differently, and if you are very used to and comfortable with programming the old driver - you may experience the 'move' as a loss of function. On the other hand, it has a much nicer interface, you gain a lot of options of using states and events you didn't have before both for events and actions, plus direct viewing of open zones in the GUI within the security interface and zone open/closure and alarm state history as well. Whether you prefer one or the other is up to you.
  15. No-where directly - but it's available to assign to color/custom/*/# as desired (I believe you can do this via HE?). People tend to walk up to the device to change the disc, so a remote 'eject' isn't the most high in demand.
  16. On this particular player, you'll actually get a warning on-screen if your connection is NOT HDR compatible (and you're watching an HDR disc)
  17. Yeah, there's a number of DSC drivers out there from years of DSC integration, and the wrong one can give you this kind of partial control/feedback. You'll want to make sure you have the "DSC IT-100 PCxxxx/Powerxxxx Series" driver - and NOT the "DSC Power 832 IT-100" or "DSC Powerxxxx and PCxxxx Series"
  18. If it's a pain to get hold of a decent converter - go with the IT-100. Assuming you have a dealer that works with Houselogix of course. Also, if you have an existing (and thus potentially older) board - the IT-100 should work , the 230 may not.
  19. Sure - but I'm unclear what particular trigger you'd get via NEST to IFTTT to Control4 that you wouldn't get via NEST to Control4?
  20. Why? The timing would be the same for the IFTTT or Control4 - you're just adding an additional step.
  21. I'd say that would be the first step. PS, there are multiple ways to doing all the above that would allow you to place the actual switch in ANY location - ie put in the most critical location - or NOT right where the LED blinds you as you get out of bed....but you'd certainly need that new electrician.
  22. No prob - I have it in my own system, just needed a moment to connect and look
  23. There are separate commands for no-delay arming to stay and away in the driver.
  24. No, I'd have to check to be sure, but most of these sort of functions are replaced with alternate methods.
