  1. I have a Apple TV - the box plugged into the wall. I now have a ROKU and this has Apple TV the app. Why did Apple name their physical box and the app the same. For some reason some apps on my phone can't see the Roku, so I still use the Apple TV for airplay occasionally. But Roku is 4K, so I should probably use Roku to watch Apple TV movies (are any 4K yet?) How do I name them so the family understands which one to select... Anyone else have this very, very, very minor issue?
  2. Yes, the 12V 5A power supplier is just to power the sensor, it is in no way connected to the HC800. I can hear the beam sensor clicking - which I assume is the relay switching At this time, the lights fail to turn on and the C4 app does NOT show in alarm Link supplied was NZ local online store - perhaps not available outside of NZ It is this one found on ebay: Beam Sensor Using a multi meter on the physical contacts on the beam sensor. reads just over 12V. Wired using 6 wire security cable with a run of about 80mtrs. Good question - I will run this as a test. Cheers.
  3. I'm getting frustrated with a beam sensor connected to a C4 contact which is working intermittently, hoping someone has some thoughts on debugging the issue. I have had this beam sensor (LINK) for years and everything has worked well until recently. Problems were occurring when it was connected to my HC300. the 300 has been removed and it is now connected to an HC800 The beam sensor is about 80m away from the controller and power supply. I am using a 12V 5A power supply. The sensor appears to be working and I read 12V at the sensor. I have the contact from the sensor plugged into the controller via the 12V and SIG connection points I read 12V on the contact when in alarm and 0V when not in alarm. - This tells me the relay in the sensor is working. At this point the sensor icon on my iPhone C4 app shows in alarm too. Perfect - all working as it should. Then later on when I need it to turn my lights on as I walk down the path, nothing.... Always works when I test it, and fails later. Anyone got any ideas before I go and buy a new beam sensor?
  4. Good to know, however I'm not in need of anything with that much functionality. My towel rail is a simple a puck switch hiding behind a single toggle face plate with a single blue indicator LED. Cheers.
  5. Yeah, I'm keeping the scheduler running so they will still have a few hours on daily, but finding now the family often want to manually turn it on, so a timer to turn off later is perfect. Radiant floor timer? Do you mean a non-C4 digital timer? - I have these for my tiled floors - and did have them for towel rails at first, but as they failed, I replaced with C4 pucks
  6. Thanks, I'm assuming the same - I have a load of timers running my lights with motion sensor too - but generally for 30 seconds to 5 mins, not constantly running for hours each day But also wondering if there are other methods available and also hoping someone who knows for sure could chime in too.
  7. I'm hoping to get some clarity on best methods for programming timers and scheduled events please. Timers -> Do they use much resource while running? -> if I'm going to have several timers running for a few hours - is this going to tie my system up at all? (HC800 running V3.1) Scenario: Heated Towel Rails; I have towel rails connected to a puck switch. I have them come on daily at 6am via Scheduler. I also have them turn off at 9am via Scheduler. However coming into winter and with a growing family who like to shower all times of the day, I now want flexibility to turn them on via the wall toggle switch and have them turn off automatically 3 hours later. My plan is pretty simple. I will get rid off the scheduler which turns them off and just use a timer which is started when they are turned on. (I don't see any option to dynamically set a scheduled time event??) When the timer expires, the towel rail will turn off. Is there any issues with several timers running for hours long constantly? Is there a better method? I've also seen the puck has options to program on 'Minutes_On' Does this do anything different to a Timer? Is one better than the other? Thanks.
  8. Thanks for the info. I'll have to have a play around with Plex and then see if further integration is the way to go. Cheers.
  9. I've just installed PLEX for my photo library and use roku to view these on my TV. I still have 100 or so DVD's stored on NAS which us a Netgear EVA8000 to play from the C4 OSD. I'm thinking about using PLEX for these movies too and scrapping the Netgear? Can I have the C4 OSD play these movies using the Roku-Plex mini driver somehow? or is the only option to use Plex's interface to find and play the movie? Thanks.
  10. If you are using the 'deactivate scene' programming option, this will invoke the toggle scene - but only if the scene is active. The scene will no longer be active if any of the lights within the scene have been changed. I personally stay away from using 'deactivate' scene - I prefer to 'activate' the toggle scene. My programming looks like this for my motion sensors:
  11. I bought Roku, only to find Roku does not yet have the Disney app or Amazon Prime and many others enabled outside of the USA. I can use Roku for Youtube, AppleTV and Netflix - it works really well! I currently need to use my TV for the other apps though (as far as I know) So just looking to program the shortcuts as best as possible - the menu->arrow->arrow->select is not the ideal options....
  12. I found dedicated IR codes for HDMI1, HDMI2, HDMI3, Component - even though my remote uses a menu sequence to change the source. I guess I'll just have to write macros to do the button clicks for the apps. not ideal, but has worked for me with other options....
  13. If you have the old 6 button/3 button - all you do is use the colour pallet to select a dimmer colour option. Do this with programming rather than any system design option. I do this for the dimmers in my kids bedrooms.
  14. I have a Panasonic TH-55FX640Z (I think) It has a few useful local apps such as: LightBox Spark Sport TVNZ What are my chances of finding an IR code for each app so I can get a watch list option directly linked? The remote has a 'Netflix' button and a 'MyApp' button. So I can link one of these local apps to the MyApp and use it's IR code. I'm hoping I can find IR codes for all the apps. Any ideas how to find the code and how to know if they exist?
  15. I was recommended Global Cache products. I think they have both ethernet and wireless options that could suit you. I'm guessing you would use something like this https://www.globalcache.com/products/itach/ip2cc-pspecs/ to control a relay. The relay would then switch the light transformer I have not tried them however.
  16. Any chance the device you are using for the source is not on the same local network?
  17. There are some discovery tools to help with this, but I think you need your dealer to use the Pro edition. Alternatively, your TV may be sensing input on an HDMI channel and turning on automatically - I have a Samsung which was doing this with Chromecast. I turned off the option in the TV's settings.
  18. Sounds like fun to enter a restricted zone at your place
  19. A 12V relay would be a good option if; you can run LV cable from the controller to the pool controller, Or you can install a Z2IO at this location And you are happy to only have control from C4 (or can rig another LV input on a switch to give a manual override.) I'd assume Matt wants a physical switch so manual on/off is an option without having to remember to take a phone out to turn off the pumps when maintenance is required. - or having to unplug. I have never added my pool pump to C4, but I have a second pump in the same location running a waterfall into the pool. This second pump is controlled by a relay - but I have two runs of 6 core security cable running back to the rack - so I have local switching using the C4 contacts to run the relay for the pump and pool lights etc..
  20. If you are in USA! Disney+ and Prime Video and many more apps are not yet enabled for other regions outside of the USA (And Canada?) on ROKU - yet....
  21. I have an outdoor heater with an IR remote. What are my options for drivers? I basically want a free driver I can have edited with ir codes for on/off and up/down and a bonus would be if the icon was a 'fire' or 'heater' Thanks.
  22. Thanks - the programming is pretty much what I do already. I look forward to seeing your videos - are these available for us all to view?
  23. I install Roku, add Netflix, add Youtube, go to add Disney+; No, damn it - Disney+ and Prime Video have not enabled their roku app to work for New Zealand yet. bugger! So I'm stuck streaming from my iphone for Disney+ for now. The whole purpose of Roku was to have an all in one streaming service. Oh well, should have done more research first I guess.
  24. So, these 'mini apps'; They will give me a nice icon on the OSD/iphone etc They will give me nice individual 'Watch' list options on my remote What happens when I select this mini app option? Does my rooms say 'Disney+' or does it go directly to 'Roku' ? - assuming control needs to be given to the Roku driver ?? Cheers.
