While the external design and many hardware features are the same, the hardware has been upgraded somewhat, with much more RAM and Flash to support larger projects and additional functionality.
The biggest update, of course, is the software and seamless compatibility with Control4.
There's also a better-handled warranty (drop shipped replacement), better dealer support, and a profitable, vibrant, active company supporting the product.
All of these things cost money.
Dealers are not going to discuss products in beta.  That's how you become an ex-dealer, or at minimum an ex-beta participant.

you should probably not be using Control4 and spending so much time on this forum if you hate it so much and think its such a ripoff.  Also if you think that product pricing is based on the cost of the physical material, you are sorely mistaken.  The expensive part is the software, cost to develop, sell, maintain, and support the software and hardware properly.

I do! If for nothing else than not having to “type” out a search on the AppleTV!

Correct, this remote does not have hard 0-9 buttons.  It does have a very usable number pad on the touchscreen.
I'd suggest you create room favorites for your favorite handful of channels, then they're one-touch, available on the main screen on the remote.

Make sure the bridge driver is updated to v39 and the ATV driver to v26.
I heard those versions should fix the control issues.

The other work around was making a button to refresh the bridge driver which can be done from Composer HE and Pro in programming.

Your dealer used the unofficial ip driver which I hear is broken in with the new ATV OS. Need to change to the new IP or IR drivers

is this really the only thing you want? cause you ask for it alot, personally meh....It's not worth the extra bandwidth and processing....but what is more of a problem is that you have to downgrade the video quality which a lot of cameras aren't allowing anymore.

Agreed have heard many times and on my post similar to this one on the ridiculous speed.

I am so glad they working on it and apparently fixes the connecting ..... issue.

I just don’t get why this specific issue is taking so long to publish. Being such a fundamental flaw, releasing a update for the app that just addresses this, would be a customer centric approach.

Only thing I can think of is that its a deeper issue that requires controllers to be updated etc ...

Same issue as the OSD it use to be so much faster in 2.x. I have two EA5s so its not like its a hardware issue ...

I went down this road when contemplating the 3.0 upgrade and the death of my existing touch screens. I couldn’t find an acceptable iPad mounting solution. Ultimately, I accepted advice to look for T3s for sale on this forum and on eBay. I’m happy I did. I found several T3s in the range of $500, and they work exceptionally well. The iPad alternative was made worse by 3.0’s elimination of “Dedicated Mode” for the iOS app. Even with workarounds, the app must reconnect every time you touch the screen. Intercom isn’t a big factor for me. TLDR: Buy T3s on the secondary market, you’ll be much happier.

drro reacted to RyanE in Is there a way to program without being a dealer
    Not typically.
ComposerHE lets you do nearly everything dealers can do with ComposerPro, with the exception of:
Adding / Renaming new devices and rooms (including 'swapping out' TVs or other devices for different models) Making *bindings* (connections) between devices, including network addressing Doing loops in programming There are many 'on-line' dealers who will (for a small fee) add and connect new devices, and loops in programming are rarely needed with timers, which are typically a better option.
Most other programming, including ad-hoc things like programming 'When motion sensor triggers, and it's nighttime, turn on lights' can be done with ComposerHE.

drro reacted to RyanE in Yale lock autolock and door frame
A few points about the Auto Lock driver:
The Door Auto Lock driver is free, in Control4's online database.  Your dealer may charge you something to install it, but it doesn't cost anything for the driver itself. You've never been able to adjust the values of the auto lock driver on a T3's User Interface.  You may be able to adjust individual lock's auto lock time via the lock UI, but I recommend you disable that if you use the auto lock timer driver. You can programmatically turn on/off the auto locking via ComposerPro programming, but can't adjust the locking time. There are a couple of other benefits of the Auto Lock driver vs. using the built-in lock timer: Auto Lock driver works with a contact for the door being closed, so doesn't lock the door until *after* the door is closed. Auto Lock driver shows up as a UIButton, showing state of the door, open, closed and unlocked, closed and locked. Auto Lock driver can be configured to lock the door via the UIButton on the UI, but to not allow unlocking, for security reasons (which you can't do with Control4's standard Door Lock driver) It's a great idea to add a way to adjust the auto lock time via a variable, but unfortunately, I don't have the time to add functionality (and test / verify it's working) to that driver at the moment, with CEDIA coming up and plenty of family activities and responsibilities as we approach the school year.
    RyanE

P.S.  My Auto Lock driver is *not* encrypted, so if you know of another developer who can figure out Lua, they could probably add the variable, and have it update the property, and then it'd be available for ComposerHE programming.

The good thing about Caseta is that you can buy and install it yourself. I usually buy my dimmers from ebay/amazon.

After you install, pair and program everything on Lutron’s side of things, just get a C4 dealer to add them to the system.

Just make sure that you are not dreaming or having a stroke when buying the bridge. It has to be the PRO version. Its the only version that can be integrated with C4.

The Pro and Non Pro look and work the same, but the Pro version has a submenu that enables integration via Telnet.

    https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F401781498236

    My suggestion is:
Buy a Pro bridge, one dimmer and one lamp dimmer, bench test it with the bulbs you are used to and see if meets your expectations before committing to a larger order and/or integrating with C4.

I have 2 bridges in my system, 4000 sqft home, bridges are in located in the middle of the house and I call all mu scenes using C4 keypads. Its flawless.

    PROS:
    - cheap
    - diy
    - quality
    - Great range
    - Instant feedback
    - Works with LEDs, MLV, ELV (this model is a bit more expensive) and etc
    - Fan controller can be found for ~$50
    - 1 lamp dimmer can be used as range extender
    - can be used with c4 keypads
    - You can create scenes within C4 advanced lighting agent
    - Ramp rate configurable within C4 scene
    - If you main c4 controller goes down, your lighting still works via lutron app (even if the internet goes down, but local network is still working AFAIK)
    - If you decide to move away from c4 one day, I guarantee you that Caseta will be compatible with your new HA platform.

    CONS:
    - Limited integration with C4
    - No double/triple taps
    - Dimmers cant be engraved (AFAIK)
    - Dimmer/pico looks is not for everyone
    - Since its not c4 zigbee, they wont help extend your mesh network
    - You may experience “popcorn” effect when using multiple bridges. Its not horrible, but could be a deal breaker for some people. It doesn’t bother me at all, since I cant see all the lights that Im dimming at the same time. Lol

If you can stick with C4 lighting, do it. If money is a problem and you can live with the limitations, there is no other system, in my opinion, that beats lutron Caseta/RA.

thanks - yes I'm aware of that work-around, however when you do that then you can't manage/modify the scenes in Control4 (via composer or the C4 interfaces), or get proper scene tracking in Control4...so while it solves the popcorn issue, it creates other issues.
