buckeye reacted to chopedogg88 in Remote Programming Services Offered
I guess mnay is referring to a couple of years ago when I was helping him out and he requested that I send him an invoice for a couple of Neeos (which were almost impossible to get at the time), and I quoted him I believe 2x Neeos at 20% off msrp and he replied that it was way too expensive or something to that effect (this is one of those guys who only wants to buy used equipment and/or at dealer pricing only). I also did some programming on his system and found him very difficult to work with, slow to pay invoices, etc...so I nicely let him know at that time that I was very busy and that I didn't want to work with him moving forward.
Fast forward to this past Friday...as you see above he posts on this thread with his phone number that he needs an integrator (not surprisingly). I didn't reply, because I recognized the user and remembered my unpleasant past experience with him. Then I started receiving phone calls and text messages from him on Friday evening, saying he needs help getting his security system keypad working with Control4 again. I didn't respond, and wake up on Saturday morning at 7am my time to missed calls from him. I informed him via text that I was too busy to work on his system at this time, at which point he asked me if I would be willing to re-consider. Then he requests that I refer him to another programmer...I ignored that request because I would not want to do that to anyone else...then he starts texting me question marks since I hadn't replied....at which point I informed him that I was going to be blocking his contact...he responds that I am a "cry baby". Not sure if he messaged me after that (probably, but I blocked him so I don't know thank God)...then he makes this false post above to try to tarnish my reputation. Just goes to show once again that on the internet, you can post whatever you like, whether there is truth to it or not is up to the reader to decide!

buckeye reacted to Ilushka85 in Control 4 - Bullfrog Spas / Gecko Controls Driver
If anyone is interested I am presently working on finishing a driver for those with Bullfrog Hot tubs or other tubs using gecko controls. Your tub would need to have the cloud control module known as InTouch2 to be compatible.
More info on the module is available here:

You should see improvements across the board especially for remote connection times, the updated version to look for is 322.18 or above. When connecting over 4Sight look for the lightning bolt to know you connected through the new Lightning servers, but be aware that these remote speed improvements only work with the newer OS 3 builds so it may require an OS update to get the speed improvements if your system is running an outdated OS.
Here is a video of me connecting over 4Sight on a solid Wi-Fi connection averaging 2-3 seconds to be fully connected.

buckeye reacted to Cyknight in Best camera system to replace existing setup, advice needed.
The problem isn't who see some of your personal lives - it's vulnerabilities that allow access to so much more than watching the deer eat the flowers.
Once you're on a device on a network, it isn't that hard to get access to all other devices on that same network (vlan).
I don't disagree that one should take care with using any internet connected device, including being aware of where it comes from and by whom it's made. Care however doens't mean just not using it, it means taking the proper precautions with it.

I block any outbound traffic from the IP cameras so they couldn't phone home if they wanted to. So far, I haven't seen them try but share the concern based on other articles.

buckeye reacted to SpencerT in Josh.ai. Anyone recommend this?
I'm new to Josh as we have started testing it out. I asked this exact same question a couple weeks ago and it's not possible today. But, according to Josh, it's coming.
You can start music on multiple zones, but no way to add other zones (at least natively within josh).

buckeye got a reaction from Kyle Coolabode in Remote Programming etc for you DIY Guys
Just wanted to add my plug for these guys as well. I reached out for some help with remote setup of new TV’s and some drivers and these guys were quick to respond and very easy to work with. They have the remote programming process down and know exactly what questions to ask and provide detailed instructions for how to work with them. Highly recommend.

buckeye got a reaction from South Africa C4 user in Is C4 getting lapped by open source solutions?
I fall squarely in the 3rd category and would gladly pay an annual fee much higher than $200-$300 for the ability. On the other hand I would probably be divorced because I would be spending a lot more on new equipment and the system wouldn't always work because its in the middle of an upgrade 😆

Restarting phone, starting app, editing favorites, then opening watch app seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks

buckeye reacted to zaphod in Setup Advice Over the Air Channels
You can keep the Roku at the TV and use the TV's audio out. I have a couple of instances where I use audio from the TV's output in the exact way that you are envisioning. In some ways I find this simpler as you reduce the number of connections plus reduce the likelihood of sync problems. Check out what types of output ports your TV has, SPDIF is common but that isn't useful to you without a converter, but they are only $15. You may also have analog RCA outputs or a headphone-type jack. This would allow you to continue to use OTA.
Do you have the older C4 8 zone matrix amp the C4-16AMP3-B? If so then you need analog signal as it does not take digital audio inputs. You could then use cheap stereo audio baluns over ethernet to get audio back to the rack - like these:https://www.amazon.com/LINESO-2Pack-Stereo-Extender-Female/dp/B01IXYSE2A/ . So the connection would be:
Master Bedroom Basement Rack TV analog audio out --> Balun --> CAT6 wiring--> Balun --> Matrix Amp Roku works very well with Control4 so you can have mini-Apps where you just select Netflix or HBO or whatever and it starts the Roku with that channel running. And it all works smoothly over IP.
