C4 IOS today’s update bring in faster experience

You should see improvements across the board especially for remote connection times, the updated version to look for is 322.18 or above.  When connecting over 4Sight look for the lightning bolt to know you connected through the new Lightning servers, but be aware that these remote speed improvements only work with the newer OS 3 builds so it may require an OS update to get the speed improvements if your system is running an outdated OS.

Here is a video of me connecting over 4Sight on a solid Wi-Fi connection averaging 2-3 seconds to be fully connected.

I was vey excited to read this and have updated my iPad and my iPhone to the new version… To my disbelief, neither device was able to connect to my system initially…   With lots of coaxing I got the iPhone to load up the system and after that first load, every future load of the system has been super quick and everything seems to function immediately (which was a problem previously).

My 18 month old iPad is another story.  It simply would not open the app and when it finally did, it only had one room and going to the room chooser menu gives an empty list.  Equally accessing the C4 menu gives an empty list and choosing security or comfort or lighting etc. gives a blank scene.  I have not tried deleting the app and re-installing… that will be my next test but I must say that I am terrified of the next time I refresh navigators having had to nurse my iPhone through the app update and having failed to nurse my iPad through the update!

@South Africa C4 user Can you pull logs from your iPad and DM them to me, so I can write up a bug for the team to look into.  This was a complete overhaul of how things connect/work, so it is possible a bug or two were missed.

Now I wish Android app can be as fast! IOS is now faster than Android C4 app! Good work really knowing that working with Apple is a pain in the neck!

Android app beta is very fast. There's a public beta in the app store

I noticed the difference in speed, much better and faster in LAN mode, I have to test it with 4Sight but it’s much better on IOS 15.4.1, iPhone 13 Pro Max

@Amr,

I noticed on your bug report that you have an HC800 running your system. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get all the speed improvements working against that controller's older chipset, so you will see some speed improvements but won't have the complete optimized experience.  In order to get optimal speeds you'll need an EA or CA series controller with OS 3.2.4 or above.

Thanks @Darin, C4 PM UI - I will send some logs and details tonight / tomorrow.

I have v322.18.0 of the iOS app and my director is a EA5-V2 running 3.2.1.  I don't see the lightning bolt under the "Status" section of the app.  Am I missing something?

I don't see it yet either.

Looks like when it is connected locally you get a 🖥️ icon and "CONNECTED"

Appears that when you are connected via 4Sight (remote not over the local LAN/WiFi connection) you get the 🌐 with the Lightening Bolt and "CONNECTED"

Try turning off your WiFi on your phone and force a connection via your cell provider to see the difference - I have noticed that I don't always get the globe and lightening bolt - sometimes just the word CONNECTED.

Looks like you no longer get the Connecting Progress Bar - probably because it loads so fast now you don't need it.

All above comments are on iOS.

Agree - both are fast - WiFi local connection is impressive  Nice work C4.

Here are the 3 different connection types, pictured top to bottom.

  • Local
  • Remote (Legacy)
  • Remote (New)
