  1. Didn't used to be. Louisville water co - making the Ohio river's finest! I can remember paying my ~$25 water bill that came ever other month - it cost too much to send the bill every month for the little collected. Then we moved away in 1994 to Nashville and got "water bill shock" (along with real estate shock, etc.) right away. But I digress
  2. In Florida, we call it "reclaimed water", and it's not potable. But it is cheap! The water is runoff from the rain and is stored all over in connected ponds, etc. Pretty extensive system.
  3. I upgraded from the CA-16AMP to Triad to get HD sound quality. I had the CA-16AMP installed for 2+ years and it worked great with great sound. I've had the Triad matrix and amp installed for 4 years and it's been fantastic too. Along with the Triads, I upgraded speakers in 3 rooms. The sound from the Triad is excellent; I wish I would have started there - I would have saved some money! Don't get me wrong, I wasn't unhappy with the CA-16AMP - I just wish I would have answered my dealer differently when he asked about what quality sound I wanted during the sales process!
  4. I'm not positive what C4 alarm system interface I have, but in over 6 years, I've not had a surge-related hardware problem in either my security enclosure, or computer rack (HUGE knock on wood). I'm fortunate that the security system enclosure and computer rack are co-located and on the same dedicated GFI circuit. In the rack, I have a Wattbox 1100-8 UPS and Audio Solutions PDU's. I also have 2 whole house surge protectors, 1 for each panel. I'm probably also benefiting from having built the house in a new development, so my "last mile" utility infrastructure is relatively new (probably!). But I still live in southwest Florida so we have several brown-outs, power outages per year. I have a Generac whole-house generator and we switch to generator power 1-2 times per year. I ran an IT support desk for many years that included many Florida facilities and poor power quality was the number 1 cause of hardware problems. A key diagnostic process was putting a power monitor on the circuit which we applied after repeated, unexplained hardware failures. At home, I use a PowerTronics Probe 100 power line monitor when I think I might have an issue. At work, when power issues were identified, it usually resulted in getting an electrician involved to reconfigure other equipment in the facility to other circuits, or just installing a new dedicated circuit (preferred solution) to power the computer equipment. The monitor is about $175US; I'm not sure what an IT100 board goes for. It also sounds like the IT100 may have some weak components which make it failure prone - which may or may not be power quality related. This may be overkill for many, and I'm not sure if any of this is, or would be helpful for your situation, but thought I'd relay a setup that in least this one instance, is working well.
  5. Since there has been no power loss, the only other thing I can think of is making sure you have these 3 LG settings "on" on your TV: QuickStart+ (that may be why your GET_POWER_STATE returns the value of "on" because QuickStart+ puts the TV in standby mode vs. power off state) LivePlus Mobile TV I had to call my dealer a few weeks ago for one of my LG's where I did a factory reset trying to debug a sound issue and they had me check these 3 settings to restore C4 control. That fixed it for me - hopefully something here works for you. I have 4 different model TVs on a variety of WebOS versions, but these settings are on on all of them. Also, I use the Annex4 driver. btw - I never fixed the sound issue; I'm assuming that it's a TV issue which is weather induced. The TV is an "indoor" LG installed outdoors on my lanai, so still under roof cover. It's over 6 years old and been through 2 hurricanes. Still has a good picture and we run sound through external speakers - so the sound problem is only an issue for native LG smart apps.
  6. Did you by any chance lose power to the TV? I know with my 4 LGs, after every power outage, I have to cycle them on/off with native remote before they will accept C4 control. A little bit of a pain since we are no strangers to power loss in SW Florida - but I guess it's not too often.
  7. I use Chowmain driver as well; I did say “C4 driver” above. Chowmain driver has been excellent
  8. @ajd123 I also use OpenWeather w/out a subscription to help determine whether to open hurricane shades (based on wind speed and amount of rain forecasted). It seems to work well for that. My experience is that OpenWeather really isn't a "real time" solution. There is significant propagation delay between local weather data capture, transmission to OpenWeather database, database ETL, and finally data available to server up. Since temps don't change that quickly, your use case is probably fine. But don't be surprised if the data available via the C4 driver path versus the OpenWeather GUI route is different for the same location. Good luck! And if you think about it, give us an update later with how this has worked out.
  9. Probably marginal value, but value none the less. The garage door button on the wall is kind of like a TV remote - I still need/use it from time-to-time. On the way out of my house, I find it more convenient to single-press a button to turn on the hall lights, open the garage door, and then turn the hall lights off 10 minutes later. And while MyQ, or the keypad on the garage door will do the same thing, I can open the garage door when I’m coming home from a bike ride or walk - no waiting on the door to open (I said marginal value!). Also, I’ve used both MyQ and direct link with C4 via Z2IO, and the response time of the Z2IO is like night and day vs MyQ - which I didn’t think was all that important until I switched and experienced the difference.
  10. p.s. Sorry - I don't mean to hijack the thread. Hopefully this is short and sweet.
  11. For the Plex users - do you find that you need an internet connection for it to work these days? I installed Plex 5 years ago on my QNAP NAS because there is a Plex app on my LG tv's and it gives me an option to watch movies stored locally on the NAS during an extended internet outage, etc. But I do it infrequently and I've found lately that I need an internet connection to start Plex - which obviously defeats my main purpose. Thanks
  12. The Chowmain agent pulls data from https://openweathermap.org. You can go to this site and then also read the Chowmain agent documentation and get pretty good detail on what is available. You can also use the organization’s web page to do simple transactions for your location to get a feel for data propagation times (I.e. how long it takes between real-time data capture and transactional data ready for agent consumption/utilization by your C4 system).
  13. I've used the Chowmain Open Weather agent for a few years now. I'm in south Florida and programmatically open the hurricane shades (see-through Kevlar mesh cloth screens) on the lanai at sunrise based on rain and wind forecast via a Bond Bridge and the Chowmain Bond Bridge driver. We also change the behavior of the shades opening depending on the time of year to keep the sun out of our eyes in the family room. @msgreenfdid all the driver/agent install and programming work. My wife and I are very happy with how all this works.
  14. I'd love to be that budget meeting: Budget Mgr: What's this $1000 in capital and $500 in operating for a "dog"? I swear I just can't keep up with you techies. Testing Mgr: No mam, it's not a technical term. We need a real, live dog. The $1000 is acquisition cost and shots, etc. to get the dog ready to test. Then the $500 is for feeding, vet bills, etc. Budget Mgr: WTF DOES A DOG TEST?!?!?!?!?!?!

  16. I received my Halo on February 10th (thanks @chopedogg88!). Put it on the charger over night and set-up the next morning. The self install was very easy. I set up the Halo on a shared SSID at the home. I love the look, feel and function of the remote. Looks like only 1 button difference between the SR-260 and Halo - voice button exchanged for info button. I think all others are there in some form. The cool thing was I programmed a custom button to toggle lamps in the room on the SR-260 and that was automatically carried over to the Halo in the install process - I expected I would have to re-add that functionality. I have not yet implemented the voice function (too old of an ATV and haven't addressed Xfinity setup - I know I have IR based control now). In the 5 days or so I've been using the new Halo, I haven't seen any wifi drops (actually no need to reset anything at all on the remote). We built our home 5 years ago and our Control4 dealer spec'd Luxul AP's, wifi controller, switches and router. I've been very happy with the Luxul gear. Battery life for the Halo seems to be 1.5 - 2 days. We set up the charger base in an adjoining room roughly 15 steps away - so getting in the habit of putting the Halo on the charger on our way to bed. My wife and I both love the look and feel of the Halo - far superior to the SR-260 in our opinion - and more than enough offset for shorter batter life - again in our opinion. All I really need now is for the screen to last 5+ years! My next project will be working on Xfinity voice integration and probably upgrading ATV to latest / greatest and get voice there as well.
  17. My next steps would be to (1) power cycle the Triad matrix and see if that solves the problem, then (2) try another port on the switch.
  18. I have had the Annex4 drivers installed for 4 years or so and never had any problems other than run of the mill power down the TV and reboot stuff that could be caused by who knows what. I have never regretted installing the drivers. I'm on WebOS 6 (latest version available for my TVs).
  19. You are welcome. Glad it worked out.
  20. I have an LU862 and have had v02.25 installed for at least a year (I have an old post on it so about that time). It has been rock solid. You can update the firmware through the gui on the matrix. Should have a URL on the firmware update screen to get the update file. Here's what I show:
  21. Frustrating I know. But at the end of the day, even though general email performance has greatly improved over the years and re-set all our expectations (i.e. I expect that password reset email NOW!!!!!), email was never designed as a "synchronous" communication method. And while not guaranteed "synchronous", messaging will consistently provide less latency on an ongoing basis.
  22. @R_Willis I periodically get the same sort of delays with emails from my security DVR motion detection function. It happens all the time and these emails do not go through C4 at all. I get the best performance from C4 push notifications directly to my mobile devices - basically garage door open, close and left open too long messages, plus morning weather forecast from OpenWeather on C4. I've experienced very little latency with push notifications. You might try doing both emails and notifications for a while and see what happens.
  23. IMHO no need to eat crow. And thanks for the information. I think it would be nice if C4 could change the product definition of an HC800 to extend some part of its life, and like all technologists I believe with enough time and money it could be done. But I have faith in C4 that they are making a good business decision - for us as well as for themselves.
  24. I would highly recommend @msgreenf or @chopedogg88 for remote support. I've worked with both and they are great. I haven't worked with him, but @mstafford388 is in Tampa and has great experience and content on this board - he would be worth contacting too.
