C4 BEAR
I had to update my username and password on my Apple TV today, and as soon as I did it, the Control4 handheld remote would no longer control it. I'm guessing that somehow the Apple TV may have changed IP addresses. Can anyone tell me where to go in Composer to enter the new IP address? Or if you think something else is going on, I am grateful for any insight. Thank you
C4 User
If it is indeed an IP address issue, I believe this would need to be done under connections which only dealers can do. I’m only a user but the good news is there a plenty of remote dealers on this site. I do recommend you go into your DHCP router and assign static IP’s to each of C4 devices that register via IP. If you do this, be sure to assign the same IP that C4 is currently using. Another option if your router supports it is to set it up for persistent IP assignment (i do not know the technical name for this) but in essence the router will hold and reuse the same IP for a particular device when it goes offline and returns to the network as happened when you RESET your ATV. Keep in mind that persistent IP in a router is not forever. Meaning if your device is offline for days or weeks it may not receive the same IP. But for reboots or resets it will. JSTRONG
Ip reservation in the router. But isn’t ir the recommended control for Apple TV?
msgreenf
IR is not recommended. But which apple tv driver are you using?

msgreenf
Did you figure out which driver you are using? If you have a driver called Apple Bridge installed you using apple home. It's the API that the Control4 driver uses

rolldog
Ever since Control4 rolled out the Apple TV integration option in the settings of the Control4 app, navigating the Apple TV using the Control4 app has been much easier. One way to check and see if your Apple TV has been setup like this is by opening the Apple Home app and look for a Control4 remote being listed somewhere. My dealer set all my Apple TVs up using IR and the 3rd Gen driver years ago claiming it was more stable, but I had to notify them about the Apple TV integration in the Control4 app settings. Ever since this was setup, all 4 of my Apple TVs have been working great. I imagine a large number of Control4 users have Apple TVs for Control4 to add this Apple TV integration into their own app. I hope one day someone releases a streaming device that would be universal, support all types of video steams, all types of audio streams, but could be setup using different types of user interfaces so end users could set it to be similar to whatever device they’re familiar with, then everyone would only have to worry about one driver and a universal integration. I must have 25-30 different devices that can be used to stream media when including TVs, Blu Ray players, etc in addition to dedicated streaming devices. It should be under Bridges..... there's a listing for EA Controller Most importantly, if you change the username/login on the TV it needs to match the one on the phone with apple home. C4 BEAR
The problem has been solved. What I had to do was delete the default user of my Apple TV and then re-login with my Apple ID and everything started working again. I just thought it was a Control4 problem but apparently it was an apple problem. Thank you all for your insight and your help.
