SR260 screen burn in

Recommended Posts

I have one SR260 which I have had since they first came out.  I have noticed recently that when I move through menu items, I see bits of extra text under the highlight bar.  I don’t think it is my eyesight! It reminds me of old computer screens getting burn in when there was no screen saver used.  However, it can’t be burn in as when I am out of the menus and on the home screen, I can see the room name and a perfectly black screen with no burn in.

The problem is worse in some menu colours than others.  I first noticed it when I got bored of green and changed to orange.  I have subsequently changed back to green and it is nowhere near as bad although it is noticeable.

Has anyone else experienced this? I assume there is no fix?

i do not own a sr260 that I can rip apart (i have 8 or so sr250's) to verify but after looking at the specifications of the display and looking at a picture of one with the case off it is possible this may be an inexpensive replacement display?

there is another thread with a tutorial on doing this on a sr250 with cracked display so it may be of some help with regards on opening the sr260?

Hello all, this thread obviously hasn’t been updated in awhile but I wanted to shed some light. I pulled the trigger on a few replacement screens, similar to the one mentioned above; just from a different seller with some better reviews.

I am happy to report that the screen replacement went flawlessly, and has brought back life to these remotes.

The tear down process was a little daunting, just because my fear of breaking the case! Once the shell is off, it’s pretty self explanatory; remove the ribbon cable, remove the screen via clips. The screen is housed in a plastic frame and is glued into place. It was possible to remove it with just force, but a heat gun may have been easier. From there, the new screen went back in, ribbon cable follows, and finally snap the casing back on.

The screens from the original seller I bought from are unavailable now, but here is the same item from a different seller.

I have attached some before and after photos.

Happy tinkering!

I have the same problem and want to attempt this replacement, but I’ll have to try and find another supplier. The shipping on those guys is pricey!

Yeah the shipping was not very wallet friendly. It accounted for over half of the order. Took about a month to deliver. Definitely worth it though vs. a brand new remote!

If this is due to the dim screen - you may be better off just getting a replacement under the program.

I thought that they stopped offering the dim screen replacement years ago?  I bought two SR-260s on the second hand market that have dim screens.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
