PapaSmurf74
The new control4 OS3 app is not compatible with my 2018 kindle fire. Seems like control4 needs to update the compatibility list on the amazon app store.
JoelC
@PapaSmurf Thank you for letting us know. We are aware of the problem and are working on getting some new amazon tablets. The only amazon tablets we had were older. I can't make any promises, but we will hopefully have a fix soon.
Crustyloafer
Similarly, I was installing a small system for a client a couple of days ago and the Control4 for OS3 app was not in the Play Store on his Samung mobile at all, but it was there on his Android tablet device. I have it on my note 8 and it is working with the exception of cropping the custom wallpapers. For the fire tablets couldn't you use es file explorer and load a backup of the apk file? rea
I side-loaded the Google Play store on my Fire HD8 (2017 model) and installed the OS 3 app from the Google Play store. It’s been working great so far. You'll find simple directions to add the Play store with a quick Google search.

Is there a known bug with Android smart phones? I have 2 Galaxy S8+ phones and a Galaxy S10E. All have the same issue. They show unable to connect message. I've had level 2 tech support run a bunch of tests and I've submitted logs from all devices. I hope this will be patched soon because I love the new OS 3.0 update. I posted in a different thread with more details on my particular issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
JoelC
@daerai I'm not aware of any issues with Samsung's. I have an S9+. We have a few S10s we test with also. Do you have a 4sight license? I have seen issues where the SSDP traffic doesn't come through to the phone. Do you know if your network allows SSDP? Usually having a 4sight license fixes the issue, but it also means you are stuck on a slower remote connection.
daerai
I don't have 4Sight. I hope it's a bug that will be fixed soon. The odds of it happening on 3 different phones are pretty unlikely. Especially when I never had these problems before the update with same router and equipment.

No issues when testing system w/my phone. Possible you have a rogue app, or some odd blocker apps on those phones?Sent using Tapatalk
daerai
I submitted additional logs to tech support. Looks like I have a lot of multicast devices that may be interfering with communication with director. I have 6 Sonos Zone Players / speakers, 4 Roku media players, game systems, DirecTV Genie 2 with 4 4K boxes, etc. They are working on a fix in the meantime, but suggested 4Sight as a work around. Seems to be working for now going that route.

Robb C
Control4 os3 app is not available from the app store on kindle fire. My supplier says it should be available on Fire tablets running version 5.1 or later. I have an up to date version - any ideas?
Ibf
I have a samsung galaxy tab e lite. I get a "non compatible with your device" error when I try to install os3 from the play store. Works great with my iPads and iPhones
Robb C
OS 3 app for Control4 is available on Apple and Android stores but not Kindle Fire. Control4 say they are working on it - but when?

JoelC
Hi, Sorry for the delay in response. The app will technically work on Kindle Fire tablets, the issue is that the Amazon store is filtering it from being visible for those devices. We have identified the issue, and we have a fix. The fix is currently going through validation. Once we feel confident that the fix doesn't break other areas of the app we will release it. msgreenf

Works great with my iPads and iPhones @lbf It appears the Samsung galaxy tab e lite runs Android 4.4 (Kitkat). Control4 only supports Android Lollipop 5.1 (API 22) and higher for the mobile app.
jrh1812
You can always install the google play store on the fire tablets and install from there. I have two 8" and a 10" fire tablets that are working fine with OS3 installed through the Play store. JoelC
PapaSmurf74
Looks like we have the same problem with version 3.1 of the app. 3.0 did show up on the amazon app store but now the 3.1 version will not install on my kindle fires
