For those following this thread, Control4 released their new Pentair Intellicenter Driver last week.

I have buttons configured that make announcements over the ceiling speakers. My entire place is all Control4. “It’s time to come upstairs for dinner” is one that’s used often. If you don’t need a response just setup announcements and trigger with a button push. Done.
I’m also building right now and doing everything with Control4.

You can have pre-recorded ones, or using one of those drivers and some creative programming you could text or email (which can be done via voice on any modern phone) and have C4 read it over the speaker(s).

I have 8 SR250’s that have been beat to hell by my 4 boys and they keep on kicking. I purchased 3 SR260’s to have in hand as I expect some of these SR250’s to start dying but they don’t!
I did put one of the SR260’s to use just to see what it was like, and it’s been great but is only used in the master bedroom on my side of the bed...which gets minimal use. Hopefully the others I’ve got work when it’s time to use them!

Yeah man...this isn’t my first rodeo. I’d rather spend a few grand a month for 9 months than $27k in one hit. Net net doesn’t change but it feels better.

I've got an extra Pi 3 kicking around...is it possible to try out your driver? What does just the driver cost?

When it comes to running wire in an already built home I quote as "Time and Material", unless you have LV conduit in place. Carpenters do some fairly screwy things that then get hidden by drywall and make life very difficult.

From a guy who's been in 100's of attics of all shapes and sizes...and adjusted pricing accordingly.
My recommendation is that if you're going to complain at all about what someone is charging you to work in your attic, go up there and do the work yourself.

The custom color setting is already available for the ranged loop and adv chase, we planned to add that to all effects in the future release in addition to the Comma Separated Random group type in the effect switch. Meanwhile you can use the "Use current colors "setting of the random loop to get the colors you want. Just manually set the ligths to the colors you want prior of turning on the effect switch, then the random loop will use the lights currently on as the reference pattern and will randomize those colors accross all the light range.

Got the fan speed controller and fans connected to switches working yesterday.  Still have motion detectors, generic relays, and the security system to do, but that shouldn't take that long.  Hopefully will have something out to play with soon.

I literally can't remember the last time I changed the temp, with the physical buttons, MyHome App or otherwise. It's been YEARS.

The problem is that people find it necessary to try and manually control their thermostat, which may be the most inefficient. A well thought out program should be all that you need outside of some occasional over rides. Generally you should never need to touch your thermostat, especially if you want cost savings and efficiency.

Can you elaborate on this more? Maybe I missed it in the first post, but I saw a brief mention of it. At you saying that I could, from my phone (for example) say "Come upstairs for dinner, please" and have it play over the C4 distributed audio? If so, where do you do the recording to/from? You say it's web based, but where?

Huge shout out to AK1. Pinged him on a Sunday morning about a problem I was having getting my movies to play, and he jumped right on it in about 2 minutes. He remoted in and was able to get to the bottom of things and get it back up and running quickly. While he was at it, he made a few changes to my DNS settings and boosted my home internet speed substantially! Andre (AK1) is the man! If you need anything done, he's your guy.

Alan, this is fantastic. Any chance of adding a "severe weather alert" feature whereby we can select the alerts to announce (for me Severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings)? One caveat is that it would need to poll every four minutes (radar update frequency in the US)

Here's the scoop: was upgrading my C4 systems with new switches, etc. company I was using updated firmware and then couldn't get anything to work. They spent a full 8 hours in my home and on the phone with C4 tech support. Still nothing. They left my home that day stating "the updates are bogging the network down, it should clear up within a few days". They were also told by c4 that I had a "faulty" six button keypad that needed to be replaced.
This sounded like BS to me so I hit this forum seeking someone to give me a second opinion.
I emailed Neil on Friday night, got an email back within 10 minutes, the next morning we were on the phone and in short order he had everything--EVERYTHING--working and in sync, including the supposedly faulty six-button key pad. In short there was nothing wrong with the system, or the update, or the equipment. Neither my installers, their programmers, nor control 4 tech support could get it working. Neil did it in an easy morning. he's my first call from now on. Just AWESOME!!!
