booch
I woke up this morning to a major issue with my system that I just can't understand: Three of my T3s are now 'stuck' on the 'Control4' boot screen, aren't showing on the network and won't respond to 'pinhole' reset commands. The weird thing is that two are in-wall, PoE units and one is a portable unit connected via WiFi only, which rules out a PoE power surge. To make things even weirder, I also lost a Klipsch KDA-500 overnight. These have a high failure rate and I've lost one before, but the timing can't be a coincidence... EMP, aliens, any ideas!? THE L1ZARD KING
Oddly, I had the same issue with a 7” in-wall T3 today as well. Perhaps a OTA update, but not sure. For me it was the oldest of my 3 touchscreens. I was however able to resurrect it by performing a factory reset (pressing the pinhole reset button then followed by pressing and holding the pinhole button by the microphone at the top of the screen). It’ll flash a warning then say “erasing.” Mine then went to the setup screen like when they were brand new, but then provisioned itself, only had to setup screensaver etc. again. All other resets failed, button, POE etc., it would just sit on the splash screen where the C4 logo flips around. You might give the same a shot with yours, it worked for me. There have been several other reports of this happening as well. C4's only response thus far in the public forum is "teams are looking into it." There might be other info available to dealers. blub
wow that is really weird. I had the same issue in 1 of my T3. Stuck in a bootloop fpr a day now. If inally had the time to factory reset it and now it is backup up and running - the last system update was months ago, I have no idea why any issues should just pop up... T3/T4 and the Neeo receive OTA updates that are out of band of regular OS updates.

stevemercer
I now have 5 screens stuck since last night. Even the OSD on my EA5 is now doing the same thing.
stevemercer
I've unplugged all on my racks and rebooted the entire system and even replaced a perfectly good 24 port POE switch with a new 48 port POE switch, restarted everything and now the same 5 touch screens and all of my OSD's on televisions throughout the house just show the Control4 splash screen
pkkaiser
Any dealers care to share what C4 is saying about this??
JBak
Same here as well. T3 bricked as well - stuck on boot logo. From the switch I can see it is not transmitting anything at all (totally dead). Mine is in-wall, PoE config.

robbie3130
C4 splash screen stuck on my EA5 OSD here as well. T4 still works so far
South Africa C4 user
Had an EA1 do this over the weekend. Dealer did an Image Restore today and all working fine now… I don’t understand what happened!
LollerAgent
Interesting that we haven't heard anything from C4 on this issue. This is pretty bad.
RAV
There is no offical answer yet, appears due to a pushed update. Just passing what I've seen. May also affect EA OSD navigator - that's a call to support. The advice is to perform a factory reset on the affected T3. I was not aware that push updates to EA controllers happened outside of the normal OS updates? I know this is possible for Touchscreens and the Neeo? Cool that they can do this but then the updates need to be well tested!

LollerAgent
Curious how things like this are handled by dealers. Do dealers typically charge customers to fix things that were broken by automated updates pushed by C4? Sounds like I was lucky since my T3's/Neeos/OSDs all seem to be fine. pkkaiser
Factory resetting (put on dock). While holding volume up put pin into upper right reset hole, keep holding volume up until c4 with exclamation point shows, it will say erasing) then redo everything…worked for me on 2 bricked screens. Key part is to work it has to be on the dock w power Amr
booch
Thanks for the replies, all. And (in a way) glad to hear I wasn't the only one/it's a systemic issue. Turn out I was doing the T3 pin-reboots incorrectly, so thanks to this thread, those are all back after the reset. Had flashes of shelling out $$$ for an hour or two there! Still think it's odd that one of my amplifiers died on the same night, though as I said, it's clear the KDA-500 has board/thermal issues. If anyone has a similar-spec suggestion, would love it. And lastly, I did notice (after the fact) that this episode seemingly coincided with Ubiquiti's UniFi 7.0 update, though now that I see all your comments, I'm guessing it was a Control4 botch (unless you all have UniFi)... RussellB
Adding my experience on this. On March 5th The OSD of the EA-5 that is used in the Theater did the Control+Spinning 4. Reboots did nothing. I decided I didn't REALLY need the OSD as I had an extra T4 that I could move into the Theater. End of day March 7th I went to take a look again and it was working again. All 4 EA-1s I have and the four touch screens were fine. I was able to capture this from the director log. Every time I hit the Control4 button it put this entry in: C4HomeKeyReceiver: Failed to inject dependencies
416to305
Same issue here, 2 of my T4s last weekend were stuck on the Control4 logo as was my EA3 and EA5. Factory resetting the T4's worked but my EA1 and EA5 still are stuck on the Control4 logo with the OSD not working. Waiting on my Dealer to get back to me as he mentioned lots of people reporting the same issue but that he was waiting on C4 to provide updates before he makes the trip to come out.
