  1. See, that’s normal though. You do that with any switch. I feel like all the wire nuts get in the way.
  2. Agreed 100%. The simplicity of not having another item there is attractive but you’re absolutely right about that being difficult.
  3. Nice! It’s about time. I had two of them that had the Phoenix connector and everything on them but disabled in firmware. UL issues. The production ones didn’t even have the connectors I don’t think. Good to hear it’s a box now, and hopefully they just put that connector block back on.
  4. I’ve got no experience with Lutron, but have put C4 lighting in 4 homes at this point and unless something changes, I’ll do it in my 5th home (which is planned but is inevitable). It is rock solid and out of what is probably close to 1,000 dimmers/switches/keypads (spanning every generation of product) I’ve had 1 fail, and it was my fault. I love the engravable keypads, the backlit lettering, the customizable LEDs, etc…
  5. I’ll just add that these are phenomenal. We use one in our “pool house” that we don’t heat or cool (live in Utah so see extremes on both ends) and it’s been going strong for a couple of years now. I fully expected it may be something that needs replacing every year or two. There’s acid, chlorine, 600+ pounds of salt…all sorts of stuff in there and it’s just sitting on a shelf. It sounds grey and performs great. Music is perfectly in sync with all the other zones that are fed from the centralized audio in the house.
  6. That’s exactly what I do. We NEVER use the Somfy remote. My family doesn’t know where it is or even that it is exists.
  7. I’d like to get this driver. Is it available?
  8. Just home run all your wires somewhere that you can put equipment. You’ll have C4 equipment and non C4 equipment. Just get all the wiring to one place with plenty of excess…I’d do about a 10 foot service loop to leave you plenty of options.
  9. Interesting floor plan. Run CAT cable to anywhere you want a camera. Run conduit from your mechanical room to your attic. Run 4 cat cable to each TV location. I’d put a pair of in ceiling speakers in each room, then 2 pair in larger rooms. I’d also put subwoofers in the larger rooms. Obviously your theater will need more wiring for speakers and subs. That has served me well. I have dual 8 inch subs in the ceiling on my main floor and in the wall in my basement living room. Then obviously more subs in the theater. Every room has a pair of speakers, but the larger rooms have 2 pairs. I’m the bathrooms I did DVC speakers.
  10. I told it to close the shades that it thought were open, and the UI toggled to close and the shades didn’t move. I then told the UI to open them and it did. Mine understands and open command and a close command.
  11. I just checked and out of our 5 “zones” of shades (which are all down right now) Control4 thinks 4 are done and 1 is up. I’ll play with this and see what I can figure out.
  12. I know that Somfy supports that, because I can use my Google Home and say close the shades or open the shades and it knows the difference. In Control4 I just have keypad buttons that do a toggle so I don’t ever pay attention to whether or not Control4 understands the state correctly.
  13. Who is using Home Assistant in conjunction with Control4? I’d love to learn more about what you’re doing and why. I’m intrigued by Home Assistant for its presence detection capabilities. I don’t know much about them just yet, but it seems as though there’s pretty great functionality there. As I try to decide how much time I should spend noodling with this (I do have Home Assistant spun up with a couple of basic non-Control4 integrations I made to help me learn), understanding how you all are using these items in conjunction with each other would be helpful!
  14. I’ve got a brand new UDM Pro and Enterprise 24 PoE switch The switch is $799: https://store.ui.com/collections/unifi-network-switching/products/unifi-enterprise-switch-24-poe The UDM Pro is $379: https://store.ui.com/collections/unifi-network-unifi-os-consoles/products/udm-pro Both units are still new, sealed in the box. $1,000 OBO for the pair.
  15. Pakedge gear is sold. I still have the Luxul stuff.
  16. Thank you! Just downloaded to my phone and will check it out later today.
  17. Got the kids a PS5 for Christmas. Replaced a Popcorn Hour in the A/V rack and all works well, but now I want the PS5 icon instead of the Popcorn Hour icon. Not seeing anything in the database. Is this the easiest way to get the PS5 icon? http://www.chowmainsoft.com/no-control-video-games-pack
  18. I finally ripped out our AppleTV’s in favor of more Rokus. Wish I’d done it earlier. Sold the used AppleTV’s for the same price as the new (better spec) Rokus. The Roku is just way more consistent and flexible from a control perspective. They support airplay too. I really see no downside…they even have the AppleTV service.
  19. We have XBOX One S and PS5 in the A/V rack and get impressive range out of the controllers. Our home is wood construction (traditional modern day American home) and isn’t huge (about 6,000 square feet) but it works for us to play it wherever we want to right out of the box (in one room the Xbox remotes will disconnect on occasion). Have you tried?
  20. We cut Dish Network in favor of YouTube TV. My family hasn’t complained at all. We also have the Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ bundle and Netflix. I sometimes wonder if we need YouTube TV…we do watch sports on it, and shows like Survivor, but I think those could probably all be watched on the respective networks apps. Who knows. We like it. We had both Roku and Apple TV (2 of each in our distributed video setup) and just replaced the Apple TV’s with more Rokus. Kept having issues with the Apple TV driver not controlling the Apple TV.
  21. $25/each for the router and WAPs? $100 for the router and all WAPs shipped? It’s Christmas and I’m feeling generous. Please make an offer.
