We (dealers) have been aware. We have resources for this stuff… resources that sounds like your dealer is ignorant to. Too many “professionals” asleep at the wheel.

msgreenf reacted to Andrew luecke in Hc800
HC250 can go straight in the bin.. At chowmain our drivers still mostly support 2.10.X (theoretically, except our new ones), but, without OS3, nobody should be installing HC250's anymore unless they want problems. The cost of labor for OS2.10 was also significantly higher, because drivers like our shelly driver wouldn't have been able to self setup
HC800 MAYBE, but nobody should be installing these either.. They only run OS3.3.0 max, so they're a dead product too. Our drivers will still support them, but because even OS3.3.1 added so many updates for the new color lighting stuff, even our os 3.3.0 drivers realistically need a newer OS then hc800 supports
Core series absolutely slaughters the EA series (we've been doing a lot of performance work, and the performance often is double). HC is older. Friends don't let friends buy HC controllers though..
Unrelated, if you're using Chowmain drivers, you're going to notice a few performance improvements in all of our newer drivers rolling out, and our new Related diagnostics and Extended Diagnostics systems

msgreenf reacted to C4 User in Adding Removing Favorites
My bad. I meant to say it would be awesome to be able to do this via programming.

msgreenf reacted to Andrew luecke in features/functionality missing on C4 app (Android)
Make sure all of your mobile devices use a email login (don't use 1 login for all devices).
If you can't set an alarm, speak to your installer, they probably have to add the wake/sleep agent and configure it (I don't think its added by default).
In regards to adding music services, your installer needs to have the Manage Music driver set to unhidden in various rooms. But this will only work if you're using Control4 for Audio. Depending on your needs, your installer might have installed something different (like VSSL or Sonos), which doesn't support that functionality

msgreenf reacted to Windthrow in What are realistic expectations for Control4?
Enjoying all the posts. My goal right now is just to become better informed in a really general sense so that I can ask the right questions and be able to understand why someone might have been unhappy and whether their experience tells me anything useful about what I might expect for my experience.
Things I have learned so far:
1. Push the envelope of what your dealer has experience with and you can expect thing to go less smoothly. This primarily means using devices they have integrated before.
2. Think through as many use cases as possible early as to get the initial install properly defined and then be ready to go through some updating once you start living with your system.
3. That people might be unhappy with their Control4 installation doesn't automatically mean there is a problem with Control4 itself.
4. Alternatives to Control4 with the same level of functionality at a comparable price point are very limited.

I disagree that it takes constant tinkering. In the last month I have made 1 change to my house...

msgreenf reacted to RyanE in Best Roku driver
I think you're missing the point of what I'm asking for.
I want to be able to make the Roku driver work like the AppleTV and/or Comcast Xfinity X1 drivers, to allow the Control4 remote to be used in place of the native remote.
I'm not looking for a hacked hardware solution for a single system, I want a legitimate software solution for *every* system.

Greenfield solutions is excited to release our latest innovation: project quick start. This is a whole new way for dealers to think about starting a project. It's an agent that makes building out device and room hierarchies much quicker than manually double clicking a hundred plus times in a project. In our benchmarking, this can provide significant time savings.

Once a driver implements the complete public API, it's done. Cooked.
Now, if you guys know someone at Roku who can open up a voice API that would let me send a voice stream to the Roku like it's remote can, let me know...
