You can use an extra garage for experience button and program it to close all the doors. This is something we cover in our New course too

You would need to use an "experience button" or a relay/contact object, rather than a "custom button".
Custom Button by design were a catch all for items that didn't have a relay/contact object already. Simple Text, you can't assign them an icon. To carry into OS3 they got hitched to a generic button like folder object.

This seems to keep coming back to haunt me.  As such i have now created a driver that will do this properly.  Have tested this over 4 months and it reboots upon internet outage only and is autonomous.  So much so that i have had to use the Chowmain logger to keep tabs on it.

A suggestion would be keypad LED programming.

HomeAutomationNerd reacted to zaphod in *False alarm - When did C4 iOS OS3 app get Apple Watch functionality?
It appears that you can now do some C4 things on the Apple Watch with the OS3 app.  I am able to adjust lighting, but Media sees buggy as it says that there are "No currently active media zones" when I have at least to active zones.

I have a number of hue bulbs behind C4 switches. I have all the switches set to act as keypads, so that pressing on/off does not control load.

Instead the “keypad” just triggers an advanced lighting scene (on / off / etc).

I program a double-tap to control load, just in case I need to actually turn them on/off.

This has worked out quite well.

If you have a touch screen or iPad in guided access/kiosk mode, you might want full control of cameras (quickly rewind backwards to see what happened a minute ago or pan a camera). One could say about almost all services with C4 integrations: why not just use native app? Ideally, C4 handles it so you don’t need lots of apps. That said, I understand the power of the native app and why a lot of people like it. Perhaps in my ideal world I have the option to do either.

Yeah, I can view video streams via RTSP with the generic IP driver (Unifi in my case).  Sure I would like thumbnails but that is just a cosmetic feature with no utility. I'm just not seeing why anyone would want to use the C4 interface to view recordings as the sytems main interface is likely to be far superior...

Blue Iris?  build your own PC or buy a Dell Business Outlet refurb job for a few hundred bucks.  1 time software fee for the PC and another 1 time fee per mobile device user.  There is a free driver plus a paid driver with extra features.  Can easily work with Lilin cameras.  Its pretty much as feature rich and camera agnostic as it comes.

I see all of my live camera streams in C4.  The BI App is great for reviewing stored content so I do not use C4 to review archived clips.  I do have a video distribution system (Netplay by Video Storm) that allows IP cameras to be seen on TV (live feed not recordings).  so live feed I can see on tvs or C4 interfaces.  recordings I pull off the BI app (on my phone, the desktop app or even any web browser).  Never tried to see how I could pull recordings through C4 but never had that need.

except it's not rich featured. Meaning that it can't display snapshots due to how unified built to protect. The snapshot comes off the camera and the video comes off the NVR which control 4 doesn't support

Is there anyway to access the video via an IP stream? Like H.265/ H.264 and web or mobile app? Using your approach, you need a lot of heavy and $$ matrix switching or expensive SDVoE equipment, baluns etc. And it wouldn’t work over mobile. Savant does something like this (I think) with its Apple TV app and their integration with ICRealtime. Users can view and interact with video all over IP (not just NVR control) as opposed to your approach. Your comment is very helpful and I suspect you’re solution is the only one. Just thought I’d ask

unifi protect doesn’t have ONVIF support so my understanding was integration with C4 with full functionality is limited. Interested in what others have to say

I just wanted to point out to everyone that @alanchow has made an addition to this driver to allow you to send info to Control4 by hitting a web URL.  This is revolutionary as it allows you to send information to Control4 from other systems or other APIs.  In the past this was not easy to do other than using @RyanE's WebEvents driver.  There are endless applications for this.  Thanks Alan!

Correct... it needs one e-mail address per family member.  I had to create one new / fake email address to get access to the maximum number of streams... Probably took me half an hour to setup because of this... but once it was done, it was perfect.

Yeah installed it about 5 months ago and works great with the EA-5, Triad Audio Matrix the C4 Tidal Driver.  I had to use separate e-mail addresses associated with the main account for each of these zones.

Thanks Alan! I'm playing with it now and reading the docs.
BTW, I have your IFTTT driver (trial still). It's amazing. I love your generous trial policy - thanks for offering that, as it makes the evaluation process so much easier.

Use the room control driver for Control4.  It creates bindings for keypads for all sorts of things like volume control.

HomeAutomationNerd reacted to RyanE in Driver Validation vs Doc - Which is right?
Adding a <proxy> tag with the filename of the driver is the 'legacy' way of doing it, and should still work.
In addition, you should add a <combo>true</combo> tag to the driver, which indicates that the driver has no proxy.

There are modules for Crestron that provide feedback for Hue lighting using the Hue bridge.
However, you need to poll for status updates: When changing light using the module, status feedback is updated automatically (i guess it justs sends a feedback poll request after sending the light command), but changes from outside the module (e.g. Hue app) are not detected automatically, you have to poll for it (e.g. via a oscillator every couple of seconds).
I´m not suggesting to use Crestron, just pointing out that it seems to be possible to have Hue 2-way. 🙂

@c44me I've been using the LG 55" OLED55C6P for ~3 years now. This is a 55" Curved OLED 4k HDR panel, which they discontinued a few years back. I'm thinking of selling it for the newer 48" 120hz 4k panel. I've got the curved LG Sound bar to go with it.
Mostly, it's great. I haven't seen any issues with burn-in anywhere. My primary use cases are day-to-day work, occasional slow-paced gaming (Civ, Magic The Gathering, etc), and web browsing.
Note: You'll need to disable the "Local Dimming" feature. If the content on the screen is largely stable, then the screen dims. For TV Watching this is fine. For computer usage this drove me nuts, as anything like reading, writing code, or even writing a doc would cause the screen to dim. Once I turned that off, everything was fine. My instructions for disabling that, which took a while to track down as they're in the TV Installer menu, are:
Buy a "One For all" IR Remote of Ebay (Mine is URC-8820N) for like $10.
LG TV codes: 0178 (USED) TAP a DEVICE button (eg, TV) PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE. TAP 9 - 9 - 4. TAP the SETUP button TYPE the 3 or 5 digit EFC code (aka "advanced code)   EZ-Adjust = 00018    IN-Start = 00019  <- has the global dimming disable TAP the regular button (eg, VOL+) - two Blinks Password: 0 4 1 3   What to change: Go to "13. OLED" (if you dont see it, press exit on the remote and access the Service Menu again). Set "TPC Enable" to '0' or 'Off' (depending on your model/firmware). (See attachment 02) Press Exit on the remote. (The change will be saved)
