  1. These "problems" are both consequences of your policy - not its justification. Neither exists if the policy is different, e.g., license goes with the project.
  2. Sure, but what are you doing in THIS thread? Someone has said something that impugns the honor of C4 over here: better get over there and straighten em out. Too funny.
  3. "Nothing personal, you just don't know what the F$%@ you are talking about. But don't take it personally." This forum is the best.
  4. The defenses of this model are hilarious...and telling.
  5. Currently on the order of 5 seconds for me. Better? Yes. Resolved? Hard to agree.
  6. Broken humor detector inside you. Also, this is in response to the post about changing the resolution on the tablet to fool c4 app into providing intercom
  7. well now the security guy who posts here is gonna come shut it down - you hackers.
  8. This badly misses the state of Home Assistant, whatever other point it proves. You're neither doing much YAML or writing your own code, unless you are a project contributor. Not in my houses.
  9. It's not clear to me what your specific question is, but it sounds like you already have your answer for the most part. Lights, Blinds, HVAC are all easily centralized with HA, as you know. Lutron stuff works great for the first two, but you could also go with just about any zwave solution for lights. I'm using inovelli red for mine. Ecobee is a good choice for thermostat but there are plenty others. If you truly want central distribution of audio/video, C4 is really good at that and HA isn't - so you have to decide how much you want that v. how much it costs v. how much worse the alternative would be for you (for instance, an Apple TV or roku box slapped on the back of each TV. Cheers -
  10. Angst? Odd word choice if in fact you know what it means. I have none. I am living with C4 in one of three homes I own and so I speak the truth about it. I don't worship corporations, or my purchases from them. It's not true of everyone, it seems.
  11. Yes, and Snap has segmented itself into the "unprofitable small player" segment. It's genius, really, which is why only you can truly appreciate it. Enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts (it'll be shorter than you'd like)
  12. Classic middle manager thinking. The point myself and others are making is that protecting your dealers would be better accomplished by investing in growing the base, not defending the perimeter from a small band of pirates.
  13. The real question is whether the platform can be made secure to the point that it's too much hassle for there to be sustained efforts to get around the security. Certainly seems doable, given the small size of the user population (this ain't Call of Duty), and the much smaller proportion of that base willing to hack their way into Pro usage. The "even realer" question is whether the company is well-served by doing it. Snapone doesn't have the real wherewithal for long-term investment here, it is not profitable overall, and there are so many gaps in C4 that are not security-related that it seems a shame to devote much (or any) resources to what is overall, a non-threat to the company. A few hundred hacked versions of Pro are not going to bring the company down. Failure to grow the base/keep up with changes in the marketplace will.
  14. As always, a classy representative of the brand.
  15. AND IT'S STILL OCTOBER! Oh wait. Still, glad to see this.
  16. That's what you drew from this? SMH. Yet end users are morons....
  17. Tesla-level corporate worship. And I believe this is called saying the quiet part out loud:
  18. It's fine. The lighting hardware and control is top notch, intuitive, and stable. If you are the sort of person that wants distributed/matrixed video and audio, so that a video or audio feed can move from room to room with you, C4 is good for that. Although I'd think the real need for a heavyweight solution for this is diminished with the rise of OTT streaming - an Apple TV knows where knows where you are in any stream, and can live in a server closet or on the back of a TV. C4 integrates well with the right alarm systems, too. After that - meh. Camera integration is not great, intercom/doorbell is not great and they are both beaten by things you can buy at the big box store. For control from your mobile, or a touchscreen, C4 is not a one-app solution, it's at best a two-app solution (C4 and your security camera/NVR app) and for iOS users, it's a 3 app solution because Intercom functionality is in a separate app. It is also curiously slow to load. Yes these latter two are being worked on but that has been the case for more than a year. The dealer model is what it is. If you don't want to tinker, it's fine. If you do like to tinker, set up new automations, integrate new stuff, it may not be fine. As others have noted, new drivers, bindings have to be set up by a dealer. You do get some control with Composer HE, but it's an ancient looking (think Windows 2000) UI that is laborious to use and not very intuitive. Things you might expect to be able to do, you can't do. No concept of geofencing in C4, for example. As it is a closed system, there are limits on the number of internet-connected things it integrates with, which may frustrate you if you hope to include the growing universe of IoT items into your home automation system. Very few supported Zwave items, no non-proprietary zigbee, etc. Still can't, for example, get readings from a PurpleAir AQI sensor into the system and automate off that. There is a community of driver developers working on integrations, so some of your purchasing decisions will need to take into account what's supported. Cue the "why do you even post here" replies in 3, 2, 1.....
  19. I think the experience of most customers with when/then has been to try do something, then throw their hands up in frustration and pay for Composer HE instead. (They might still then throw their hands up, but a different set of things driving it).
  20. Hate to say it - best automation with kids is......automatic flush.
  21. I would add to the advice above - the biggest problem you have sounds like the dealer. I recommend asking one of the many dealers on the site willing to work remotely to take a look - including the poster just above.
