mujtaba.khokhar reacted to WhyPhy in Low Voltage Switch Solutions?
What mujtaba is saying is that the switch can't directly dim / color change the low voltage LEDs. The low voltage LEDs needs to be controlled by their own power supply/controller, and then C4 controller uses a driver to communicate with the LED controller. The C4 switches would send commands to the C4 controller, which would send commands to the LED controller, which would control the lights.
Some examples of this are Philips Hue (C4 controller -> Philips Hue controller -> Philips Hue LED light strip) and DMX (C4 controller -> DMX controller -> LED light strip.) This allows dimming control and color change control.
But this is only if you need dimming capability or color change capability. If you don't, the easiest solution is to have a Control 4 wall switch (SW120277)  turn the LED power supply on / off. The LED power supply is what converts high voltage to low voltage. This is the solution I'd recommend unless you're set on dimming or color change.

Mujtaba.Khokhar recently integrated an LG display via the Annex4  IP driver for my apartment. He troubleshot it all through teamviewer (a free screen sharing platform) and got it working flawlessly. No delay at all!!

I then enlisted his help to integrate a Kramer 66h HDMI matrix. I could not figure it out myself. I was frustrated and had little documentation for the product. It was an eBay buy and I nearly wrote it off as broken. He stepped in. We switched drivers, we switched control protocols. IP, serial, we nearly settled on a damn IR driver...
He went above and beyond and got on the line with the people at Kramer. Now it works flawlessly!

All of these jobs were accomplished at a fair price. I recommend this man/company for anyone looking for an experienced remote programmer.

    Thank you again, Mujtaba.Khokhar.

Depends. Generally yes you can but:
-Some Pakedge APs have the option of being a 'master' unit - you don't want to pull that out.
-Take care if you're naming the network the same - that can cause issues.
Replace APs first, then router. Those two are usually the biggest 'down' time items. Switch is usually quick and dirty.
No cable should ever make sharp bend...there's cheap wall mount 'racks' available that can easily manage panels like that, many with one side hinged so you can 'open' the fron to manage or service. Startech even sells one or two of them - a quick search should give you some options.
Always keep SSIDs simple (no spaces. underscores, exclamation marks etc ) - some devices don't play nice with them. Beyond that. I'm no experts on the chosen devices.

Thanks for the reply Mujtaba.khokhar.  To answer your question my network is pretty basic. I have a single router, Asus RT-AC88U all settings at default.  The remaining actions in Control4 seem to run fine without any delay, quick response actually on any execution such as turning on TV, video source, lights on/off etc.  The only issue i have is the music execution. I have updated the controller to the latest update. The music now takes 15 seconds to come on.  One more thing to note, once the music is initiated and running all is normal. When I add a room to the music selection already running, the music comes on instantly.   Thanks again.

can be a goodnight scene/button if in a hallway headed to the master bedroom.  Could be used for motorized blinds in a foyer or an adjacent room.  foyer and scenes have a lot of potential.i have a few lights on outside all the time, but if guests are coming and going i can press 1 button to turn on just about all exterior lights from a keypad in my foyer.  to me a lot depends also on who is living in the house - if its a family with young kids or older adults and no kids, etc.  for instance, you could do something with garage doors in the foyer to open/close in case you know someone is coming over.  but if you had young kids I'd be afraid they would mess with stuff and your garage doors would always be open!

With the help of my dealer Epic Systems Tech F/K/A Strongman Security, we were able to figure out the problem. It was a hardware issue and not a software issue. One on my network switches went bad and was not working. Epic System Tech sent me a switch next day delivery, and I swapped it out, and Control4 is working now.

mujtaba.khokhar got a reaction from Elvis in Anyone use Ubiquiti new amplifi alien kit with Control4
Personally I don’t think you need to spend any more money on network hardware its just a case of getting it all set up properly first.
Firstly Package have a deal with control4, basically Package + Control4 is supposed to just work. I would stick with the Pakedge equipment you have and work with that. However Ubiquiti is on the ban list with Control4, but sometimes it does work, but its not recommended, its mainly the switches as they don’t support multicast traffic very well as Control4 relies on this for their stuff to work properly.
Also an EA1 is supposed to be for a single room use not multi room, well to be honest it really depends on the size of your system....
In regards to access points it sounds like you have a lot going on… if you cant get into any of the UniFi access points I would reset them and the cloud key too. By adding in the apple time capsules you’ve just made your wifi situation more crowded so access points are fighting for space in the same channel spectrum and there is likely a lot of overlap between access points.
Your packaged router should be more than sufficient for your needs.
The HC 1000 is discontinued so if you were to go to OS3 you would have to replace it or get rid of it. what is the HC 1000 doing?
There is no lack of support with Hikvison and Control4, sounds more like its not set up properly and your dealer was trying to make more money from by just selling you gear.
The ring video doorbell does integrate, from what I remember its just for a doorbell notification (doorbell sound from ceiling speakers when the button is pressed) but I will do some digging and see if this has changed.
In terms of getting in, you have 2 options
    1. Ask your dealer for the passwords, technically they should give them to you as you have paid for the equipment etc
    2. Factory reset everything and I can help you set it all up again.
What would help is a floor plan of your house, and where each access point is located and any other details you could provide.
by all means PM me and I can go through and tell you what to do.
Also what other control4 equipment do you have? Do you have video distribution? Ceiling speakers? Lighting? HVAC? Security? Irrigation? Gate control?
    Thanks

I started to subscribe awhile ago - email I got when I woke up:
        Token Authentication service upgrade
An update has been posted   After the rollback of the authentication token, we had to update some records in the database. Customers will need to re-login to their mobile applications. If customers are still experiencing issues connecting with their projects after around noon MST on Wednesday, we recommend a reboot of their controller to force a renew of their authentication token. If need be, we can force a reboot of controllers remotely. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your patience as we've worked to resolve this as quickly as possible.   Time posted

    Okay I do too

403 is a http error somewhere something isn’t right from the client side (us) to the server side (Control4). It could be some sort of authentication, a certificate or someone got the http address wrong that the clients are supposed to point to...

I’m sure control4 will be able to shed some light on it when I call in the morning.

I’ll report back here with any updates

    Thanks

    Open an administrative powershell session
In the taskbar search, type powershell
Right click on the Windows Powershell option and select "Run as Administrator"
Press Yes to acknowledge the prompt
Copy/Paste the following command, then press enter.
    Get-NetConnectionProfile | Where-Object {$_.NetworkCategory -eq "Public"} | Set-NetConnectionProfile -NetworkCategory private
    Exit the Powershell window

It used to work when just changing your network from public to private but for some it doesnt work. So use the above powershell command
