Araknis AC700 Access Point SLOW
SouthernSmarthome replied to samsmoothjazz's topic in General Control4 Discussion
Araknis is shit product, sold by dealers because it has fat margin, is stupid easy to setup and if needed has ok tech support. I’ve used and tested the AP’s, switch’s and routers. The AP’s are complete garbage as are the routers. The layer two switch’s are ok at best and the layer three have had and still might issues with stripping out vlans - snap tech support all the way to the top witnessed this and had no solution. Basically it’s for people that don’t really know networking but still want to make big money on the product side of things. OvrC is a great tool that comes along for the ride and can be very helpful. I have removed araknis at multiple sites to fix multiple issues including the speed thru the AP’s and watching the router’s weak processors slow a network to a crawl. If you want great WiFi get Ruckus. I’m sure that the araknis lovers will flame me, but i have super solid networks that outperform anything araknis routers and AP’s can offer, some even have araknis layer 2 switch’s. Ok I’ll make this easy. If you want composer pro and your not a dealer then I’m happy to help you. For $10,000.00 a month paid in yearly lump sum payments and with no tech support, I’ll hook you up. If you need tech support (most likely) then that will be an additional 5k a month for email support only. For those of you that will need phone and remote support that will be another 10k a month Tech support is only sold in 5year blocks. I’ll be waiting for your phone calls. Cash and cashier checks only. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

c4 wall10 ribbon preventing flush mount
SouthernSmarthome replied to stamatopo's topic in General Control4 Discussion
That’s because it’s not really supposed to be flush. It’s also why the pads are included for the back of the TS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Pakedge Network Equipment
SouthernSmarthome replied to RoadRacer22's topic in General Control4 Discussion
Oh yeah I’ve tried araknis (as well as pakedge and Luxul) AP’s and router and for what they cost vs performance it’s a joke. Araknis, packedge and Luxul as far as I’m concerned are products for people that need IT but don’t understand IT. Same goes for meraki. Cisco switch’s have been solid as have edge switch’s. While I’m not a huge araknis fan i agree that a single 48 port switch is a better way to go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Ubiquity is not unifi. Ubiquity has some serious switches Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Pakedge Network Equipment
SouthernSmarthome replied to RoadRacer22's topic in General Control4 Discussion
Love mikrotik, it is the only router I’ll use. Just not for the novice. From a purely functional standpoint though it’s damn hard to beat them as they can do more than arakins, pakedge & Luxul put together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Buy ruckus on amazon. They blow away pakedge. Switches are ok but ubiquity or Cisco are better again check amazon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

C4 doesn’t pre announce anything. Sorry Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
For sure I’ve seen and used C4 in conference rooms and each time it ends up being a bit of a cluster f..... Add in that the op should probably get more training. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Question for rack building pros

This. Custom power cords just aren’t worth it. Add some vertical duct and lacing bars and you should be good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

If you can use The Yamaha app then it’s highly likely you can. It may require a bit of trial and error. In general find a similar model avr with a IP driver and test. Pretty easy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

All of this begins with getting a dealer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I’ve had it since it came out. I use the IP driver and you use the previous button for back. You can also map certain buttons on the remote Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If your not getting it from control4 then i wouldn’t count on it. The unit needs to use the c4 zigbee stack. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
