Simple. You aren't "troubleshooting a sudden issue", nor are you programming to stretch the function of a system - you're bypassing the rules you signed up for when you signed that contract.
If neither you or your dealer can figure out how to change what is clearly a basic IR driver to have an HDMI output, neither of you should be using Composer Pro.
Oh I'm sure you don't like that answer - and you can call it 'hate' all you want, but it is, in the end, exactly WHY Composer Pro shouldn't be readily available.

Oh I'm sorry mister President/Head of the FBI/Overlord of the (Under)World , didn't know it was you, because who else could be so important that the only available time you have, the only time anyone is home to let a professional in to fix something in your house, is in the middle of the night. The plumbers, electricians and appliance maintenance people are at you back and call along with the cleaners, your dentist and family doctor.
Assuming whatever isn't working is so important that it couldn't wait, I know of plenty, ourselves included, that will and have done so. Though in most cases it's not actually "our" system that is the cause of things - but the furnace guys, electrician or other isn't responding....but guess who does.
So you won't drive a car unless you know how to replace the transmission, the engine, the steering wheel, starter, full body wiring, axle and more? Riiiiiiiiight.

yes, laserdisc.. I still have a 600 disc collection that has a few things I want to watch every once in awhile.  I still have four players in box in storage for when the one I am using now breaks down.
So, this is going to be my last post on this topic. again thank you to msgreenf for providing the solution to this. and for others who made suggestions.
As for some of the other replies, you know who you are, I really am having a  hard time with your judgmental attitude.  I really hope that you come across better to your customers than you do on these forums.  When I was first considering the smart home route, I had three estimates done before I found my dealer.  I was ready to give up on the whole thing because the dealers who came out were either condescending, took weeks to do a simple estimate, or seemed more interested in having the system work the way they thought it should instead of the way I wanted and needed it to.  Thankfully, I found the dealer I have now, who was referred by a friend at work.. who was willing to accommodate my schedule, and who was willing to listen to what I wanted to be able to do with the system.  Unfortunately he is no longer local, but is still willing to sell me equipment to install and upgrade, and to remote program when I need him to.  Awesome guy, and I wish more of the 'smarthome'' people would be like him.
about two years ago, I had to have new AC installed in my house.  three systems.. long and short is that because of my schedule, I was only able to give them one day to do the work. yes, my work schedule is that bad, and my time commitments are that strenuous.  they did the work, but f###ed up the connection to the thermostats, blowing up two of them when the system was turned on.  These were the old C4 therms, with remote sensing in each room for temp.  AC guys had no clue about the C4 therms, how to troubleshoot them, or how to fix the problem, and recommended I call a C4 dealer.  so here we go, called 5 local dealers to see if I could get somebody out to trouble shoot this problem, and replace the therms.  NOBODY even returned the calls the same day.  frantically called my dealer, who sent me five therms from out of state, overnight, and just talked me through the wiring to get them installed.   turned out two of the old ones were actually 'blown up', with charring on the inside where the wrong connections were made. only needed two replaced, but ended up keeping and paying for all five to get some consistency, and to say thanks to my dealer, who went out of his way to get this working for me..
I wont even consider anybody else at this point, and some of these comments make me remember why. Cyknight.. really? I hope you get over whatever trauma or situation made you so bitter.. you obviously had something happen to you and I wish you the best. your sarcasm regarding my schedule and hour commitment, when you dont even know what I do, and what my commitments are, is really.. just bad.  Dont judge others until you walk a mile in their shoes my friend.
Anyway, another thanks to those who helped..
    Steve

Sony for this guy. Never had an issue with Samsung, just not what I prefer. The 900H is solid as well.

The pulled driver is unreliable anyway,  Amazon released a new FireOS shortly after the driver was written.

We've been expressly told not to (I actually also don't HAVE a copy so don't bother asking) on the dealer forums.

Please tell me what professionally installed automation system has more end user control than control4 between the OS3 app, Composer Home Edition and When / Then?
Not Savant, Crestron, AMX, Elan, RTI..... Please tell me what I'm missing here?

MattK2 reacted to BraydonH in Better looking keypads
Call me crazy but the nicest keypad (aesthetically) of the 3 pictures you posted is without a doubt the black C4 Keypad at the bottom. The white Control4 keypad with the god awful glass plate looks terrible. Hate the way those engravings look too. The C4 faceplates really make the keypad look great. Don't use other brands of face plates.
And dont get me wrong I understand that glass is a premium product and plastic is a cheap product but that palladium keypad is a total gimmick. The glass wall plate looks so small and crappy. The engravings aren't centered. That thing will look super outdated fast. I dunno, I'm not a fan at all. I certainly wouldn't pay extra for that finish. The pricing is out to lunch on Palladium. The only room where that would even make make sense is in a bathroom... but even then. To each their own though.

Depending on the finish of the house go with Snow white (WAY better than regular white) and if you can go with Midnight black (way better than regular black) with a stainless C4 plate.

Swap out the 4 zone amp for an 8 zone. the old C4-16AMP is an amazing product. Then sell your 4 zone. Shouldn't be hard as the 4 zones were incredible value and I know alot of people would still have use for it.
Or you could always get 2 x Triad One's. But with that being said i'm sure a used 16 channel matrix amp is less than 2 brand new Triad One's.
If your still using Sonos (and plan on using Triad One's) and not just Native C4 streaming services you will need to have the sonos go into one of the Controllers audio inputs. It will add a bit of latency but then your Sonos could be listened to in the Triad One zones as well.
Just get a 16 channel matrix amp.

MattK2 reacted to BraydonH in Luma NVR 510 integration with C4?
Control4 can only live view cameras and use PTZ functions. That is a limitation of Control4's camera proxy. There isn't any system out there in which you can rewind and playback saved footage on the Control4 app.
The Luma "fully integrates" by allowing things like full control over the OSD using the HDMI output of the NVR. You can control the NVR with an IP driver. So you can hook it to a TV and have full control over things with a Control4 remote. It also allows for push notifications and things like motion sensing detection. If you plan on looking at your cameras on a TV frequently than perhaps a Luma solution makes sense.
To save footage or rewind things you must use the Luma mobile app. Saving footage is a real PITA with Luma. Also its missing ALOT of smart features that you would find on cheap cameras such as Nest or Ring.

Luma is about as good as it gets within the Control4 space. But I wouldn't worry too much about the C4 integration and just get a Unifi system and use the Unifi app. If C4 integration is a top priority then go with Luma.

Just get a standard 'Dumb' garage door opener that works with a traditional relay.
Use a Z2IO for the relay and contact.
You can get the package from control4, or if you want to order the contact separate its a "Tane-66"

MattK2 reacted to BraydonH in EA1 Questions
I would personally skip on the EA1s in every room and maybe do an IOX in the rack. OSD really isn't the greatest anymore and im sure if you planned on having 10+ controllers in your project that you have incorporated enough lighting to make a very strong zigbee mesh without additional controllers.
The other thing I worry about is in how many years will C4 say the EA1 isn't supported anymore then you would have to replace 10 controllers which was already a fairly large investment. The EA1 isn't exactly a brand new product so who knows how much longer its lifespan will be. I know the EA5 will likely be supported for a very long time to come, but I can't be so certain about EA1's.

We always controlled BAF Haiku models with a Control4 0-10v dimmer. Why not use that instead of the IP integration?

Ubiquiti is unreal. We basically only spec ubiquiti for all our projects and it never misses a beat. Nothing but good things to say about their products. And the fact that they have Unifi Protect to go with the networking side of things makes it even better. Probably the best security cameras i've installed. The unifi protect app is also very user friendly.

I dont usually just get a dumb soundbar and hope everything will control fine with ARC. But by all means go for it. I do recommend a soundbar with proper drivers and integration
