  1. Another vote for Rachio. You can bind the experience timer sprinkler driver (dealer action) to the Rachio zones and have manual control. Set the experience button to your desired timer lengths and you can have manual control of the zones. It may not be instant because it has to send it to the cloud and back down for control. But Rachio has been the best we've integrated so far.
  2. When you favorite a RGBW or tunable white fixture to the room. The system can tell if the fixture is doing RGBW or tunable white coloring and it can adjust your favorite room icon between a fixture with RGBW bulb or a tunable white bulb. Pretty cool detail! The bulb is also different from the standard lighting icon, it looks like a LED bulb. More cool details.
  3. In order to use the new color wheel your RGBW / Tunable white fixtures need 3.3.0 drivers that are built for the new light proxy. Depending on which drivers you're using you may need to replace/re-install a simple update may not be possible. Once you have the new drivers installed / configured you can go to lighting. Any new drivers will have a slider, a light icon with a small colored circle beside the light. If you press and hold on the light bulb you'll bring up additional options, and features including the color wheel. Chowmain released an email/update with their drivers that are compatible. Domaudeo's DMX driver has been updated as well and available from black wire designs. The Domaudeo's DMX lighting has been completely revamped and improved, you'll need to replace/re-install. That's what I'm using and being shown below.
  4. OS 3.3.0.628678 is available, at least for my system. Updating now.
  5. Have you tried to delete the device from your customer.control4.com, delete the app from the phone, then re-install the app, log in with your email address, then check the notifications of the app when you install it again?
  6. I noticed this with some of my client devices too. I had to use the UI agent and re-select our custom wallpaper and apply it to the project/rooms again. But I don't believe that's available to Composer HE.
  7. For those thinking about getting >1.0 Gbps internet, I would recommend looking at the fine print for the speeds. One of our local cable ISP states that the max speed is 940 Mbps. To achieve more than 1.0 Gbps you need to have simultaneous connections. Below is a quote from their legal section. Here is the fiber ISP small print. Just something to keep in mind when ISP's are throwing around big download numbers.
  8. I wanted to follow up from our earlier post. I've attached a couple of pictures of the way we do it. We will always try to run the garage door opener wires back to the processor whenever possible. If not, we locate the Z2io/secondary processor in a secure location. The Lift master 893 Max does almost every garage door open lift master makes. We can then run a garage rail door sensor to either the main processor or the secondary processor to monitor if the door is open/close. In the pictures below, we've tied the doors into the alarm system so we can monitor the doors through there. @RyanE I'd figured you'd appreciate the details.
  9. We have another vendor that sells a similar OEM model, it works very well! I have 7 of these at one install and they work flawlessly. Highly recommend them!
  10. We've been hardwiring door openers to either a Z2io or directly to the processor (preferred) for years and never had a problem. We have tons of sites out there with a very clean solution. I will try to visit some of these sites next week and show you some very good options.
  11. @Demay A little late to respond, not sure if you received the driver yet. But the KeyDigital Champion Series matrixes can use "KD-HDMS8X8 (Serial)" driver. The protocol from the HDMS matrixes is the same as the Champion Series. avswitch_Key Digital Systems_KD-HDMS8x8 (SERIAL).c4i
  12. Interesting, didn't know they did that! Thanks for the information!
  13. Correct, you can create scenes with Control4 too, I'm not saying it's exclusive to Lutron. I'm just saying using Scene based lighting is a far superior way of controlling rooms/spaces. Once you do it, you won't go back regardless if you use Lutron or Control4.
  14. Toggle based keypad buttons are no better than a dimmer or a switch. You're simply turning on the light. Having toggle based buttons is like having an oven that only does 0F or 550F or a car that is either stopped or warp speed. It doesn't make much sense. Scenes based lighting designs gives customers a more reliable, predictable better lighting experience. In medium - large rooms where there are multiple fixtures, it doesn't make sense to have one button per fixture and making everything toggle based. You stand at the keypad every time pressing multiple buttons to accomplish a single button press can achieve. If you use scene based lighting designs, you get the exact same results every time. It gives the home a more luxury feeling. Trust me on this! With that said the Palladiom and Ra3 keypads are more challenging to design because they have fewer buttons than the standard 6 button keypad. I spent a week taking lighting design courses at Lutron and it changed my life.
  15. Ra2 has the following LED logic Path of light Single/Multi-room scene Toggle control / room monitoring Shade tilt view toggle Shade toggle Green mode Time clock mode Ra3 has the following LED logic Single Action Toggle Homeworks has the following LED logic Depending on what button type you select Single Action, Toggle, Dual, Raise, Lower you will have the following options. Room Scene Pathway Momentary on when pressed Via integration Defined by sequence The LED on the button will turn on if lights are at their programmed state. There is no programming required to control the LED.
  16. I prefer the Lutron programming capabilities. In my opinion, it's better, faster, easier and you can create better lighting scenes. The LED feedback offers multiple options that automatically program itself based on what you select. Ra3 have less buttons per keypad, You'll want to look at scene based lighting designs rather than fixture based buttons. There is no customer based programming/training for Ra3 software. Ra2 and Ra3 use different software, they are completely different beasts. If you go with Ra3 you'll want to find someone who is very familiar with the design software because it's a big jump from the Ra2 software. Ra3 requires your dealer to get certified before they can install Ra3. With that said, clients can change much of the keypad programming through the Lutron connect app though (just not everything). You cannot order color change kits for Ra3. Once you buy your color, you're stuck with it unless you buy a new unit/new color.
  17. We've been extremely happy with Yamaha's RXA series IP control, it's rock solid! They do a fair amount of firmware updates on their units and it never breaks the API/protocol Your receiver selection may be limited to what's available/easy to get your hands on. Some makes/models may be back ordered for months.
  18. I personally use the Xbox app on Windows 10 PC, have a controller connected to that PC and I 'stream' the xbox to the one of the computer monitors. It's pretty cool how it works. However I can't speak to the latency for 1st person shooter games. But I will caution that when a game needs to download an update while streaming to your PC you will be lucky to get 1.5 MB/s on the download regardless how fast your ISP is. Stop the streaming and it will immediately jump up to the max speed the update server/your ISP can handle. It's the difference between 6+ hours to 4 minutes on a 3.9GB update heh.
  19. Looking at the two different spec sheets, it appears that the EA3-V1 and EA3-V2 have the same audio capabilities as noted by @TFlury. Some small differences between the V1 and V2 units are as follows. EA3-V1 supports WEP. EA3-V2 does not support WEP. EA3-V1 has built in wifi. Dual band 2.4/5.0GHz 802.11n/g/b EA3-V2 requires an optional dual band USB adapter 2.4/5.0GHz 802.11ac/b/g/n/a
  20. You might want to look at Screen Innovations, they have an outdoor rated screen, Zen 2. You can integrate with Control4 using several different types of controllers. Can't recall if you get two way feedback or not, but it's worth a look. Screen Innovations Zen 2
  21. It is possible the cable is carrying EMI if it's too close to electrical wires inside the walls/joists etc etc. The system could be detecting that and turning it on, it's definitely within the realm of possibilities. We've installed Echo Dots in the audio/video racks before then connected them to the AMS'. We would install a second device in the desired room, this way the in-room device can be used for voice control. To play music you'd say say "Play xxxxxxxxxxxx on the 'party dot' (or whatever you want to name the rack Echo Dot. You need to setup the devices in the Alex App to do this but it may be an option to try. This method still required you to manually turn on the audio either by touch screen, app, keypads etc etc. But you could do additional programming with Voice Scenes and/or Alexa routines. Something to try if you're still interested in complete voice control.
  22. I really like the Sony TV / Control4 integration, it works really well. I have it in my personal home and wouldn't change it.
  23. This is a known bug. I'd recommend having your dealer contact Control4. There is a script Control4 may be able to run that may fix this. The IR routing should still be functioning. The "Watch" button should be able to select the TV sources.
  24. The custom ones we designed can handle up to 16 zones. What's not pictured is a cable management bar that holds the wires in place for each patch panel shown (it's installed on the back side). It keeps everything super clean and easy to work on.
  25. @zaphod We custom make those panels. Cy is correct, one of the main reasons we use it is because it does help clean up the wires a lot. There are 1u banana jack panels that are out there. The problem we found with those, 1U = 6 zones. Now a days, people have 8, 12, 16, 24 audio zones. There was too much space being used by 1u banana jack panel audio zones in these situations. It wasn't efficient enough for my needs/wants. So I custom designed these panels. These panels are highly customizable when it comes to the speaker configuration. They are easy to install / to do maintenance on. It was a win/win for us.
