ashwinmj reacted to Dueport in New Flo Device Coming! Kitchen Faucet?
@Cinegration the driver now is excellent and we've found it very useful in our home. Looking into the future for the driver and expanding it to include new devices brought into the Flo ecosystem: my feeling is the ability to add more devices into C4 is always best because it expands both integration possibilities that may be immediately obvious but also those that aren't anticipated until you need it - having more tools available is always good and adds value to the driver. Off the top of my head some immediate possibilities for useful integrations would be: 1.) if the kitchen faucet is running for more than X minutes shut it off; 2.) when the house shutdown macro runs (when people leave and/or when everyone is sleeping) then turn off the kitchen faucet; 3.) if the leak sensor under the kitchen sink detects water shutoff the kitchen sink; 4.) if the low temp sensor in any room detects a low temp turn on the kitchen sink slightly to prevent freezing pipes (this is better than the current implementation the sink supports because it only uses the temp right under the sink); 5.) if the device supports setting temperature limits, then set the max temp at one level normally and another level when the housekeeper is working; 6.) if the faucet turns on when the house is empty trigger the home security system to alarm; 7.) if the faucet has been used recently, don't turn off the lights near the kitchen even if motion hasn't been detected recently in that room (helpful for open layouts to avoid false triggering of lights off on no motion); 8.) if the Flo detects unusual water activity make sure the kitchen sink is off first before shutting down water to the entire house; etc. These are just a few ideas but I'm sure having the option and more time would yield more possibilities now or in the future.
Additionally, Flo by Mohen may be expanding further in the future - I believe they announced a sump pump at CES that would also be integrated - hopefully the shower too in the future. So in the future there are likely more devices and integration options that people will want to use through this driver.

Fantastic news! Thank you for posting! I'll be picking one or more up in the next few months now for sure!

I have good news! The Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus (with Apple Home Keys) works with the C4 ZigBee module!
I was using the module in my older Assure Lock gen 1. I swapped out the module to the new lock and registered the module in the Yale app, and it all worked immediately. Nothing had to be done in C4.
I haven't tried it in the model with fingerprint, but I assume it would be the same since the Verge article made it seem like the fingerprint version has wider module support than the Home Keys model.

Yeah…I’m not using a wifi bridge device. I am using the August C4 Driver which works great. It sounds like the bridge was the problem (most likely).

So I installed the wifi module in the lock and also got the August driver and bridge setup in C4 and it works great. I'll be curious to see how the Zigbee module works, and if it is actually supported yet or not, once I receive it.
Using the WiFi module the lock responds within two seconds and reports back in the mobile C4 app within less than a second that the lock state has changed. So, overall, from the time I press lock/unlock in the mobile C4 app the lock is locked and the status within the app changes in two to three seconds which is not bad.
I will post back if I experience any issues.
I will also add that it is nice being able to just use the iPhone and Apple Home Keys to control the lock itself.

I’ll try that…I ordered a wifi module for the lock and a few more locks since this one works so well. I got them all with wifi for now.

We're in the US and I do plan on purchasing one in the next few months and will update then if someone hasn't tried it sooner than that. Sounds like it could go either way....

If it’s just a single task of unlocking the door remotely, the Yale app is a lot quicker than doing it via the C4 app in terms of the number of taps and load time. With Wi-Fi connectivity, I can also get access to the Door Sense status in C4.
Nope, I have 4Sight

That's an interesting question - I didn't know about the Yale wifi bridge product. I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that. Bluetooth is built into every lock and normally to add wifi you'd use the wifi module but that would preclude using the C4 zigbee module. But I see what you're saying about whether the wifi bridge paired to the lock's bluetooth would work, then maybe if that works you could plug in the zigbee module and have that work too. If the Yale wifi bridge is compatible with the Assure 2 locks then maybe this would work but I don't think we'll know unless somebody tests it. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I’ve pre ordered the Apple Home Keys version. I’ll know soon if it works with the C4 Zigbee module.
I wish they had a variant with both Apple Home Keys and fingerprint.

Wow these look great - I'm going to be in the market for a new lock soon so I'll probably try the Apple Home Keys version with the C4 module at some point. I'm only guessing of course but I think there's a good chance the C4 module will work with these if we know they work with the other Assure Lock 2s and these are variations of those. Of course we won't know until we try them but here's hoping. Appreciate you flagging these new versions and sending the links!

I did - rather than using the gear like on the old keypads, with the Assure Lock 2 you initiate the pairing using the app

It would also be nice if the Neeo screen could be customized independently of the room's navigator in the app/T4 without creating separate rooms in an effort to reduce overall "room clutter".

ashwinmj got a reaction from South Africa C4 user in C4 app suddenly slow to load lights/shades
@ChrisHenderson thanks for looking into this problem.
I’ve been trying a few things and I noticed a pattern today. It seems like everything is quick to load if I remove the system from my iOS Control4 app and add it back. Then after 2-3 days it become slow again, until I remove the system and add it back again.
Also, the problem isn’t only for slow loading of lights and shades. Other parts of the app as well may show up on the UI faster, but they don’t actually send the commands to controller until the initially 20-30 seconds are over. For example, if I choose a watch source, the app shows that the source is on. But nothing actually turns on nor does the source show as active on the touchscreens/Android app until the initial 20-30 seconds are over. Based on this I would assume the lights/shades are taking long to load initially because they do some kind of a query to the controller to get the list and status of the lights/shades.

I’m sitting with my dealer tomorrow on some other stuff, so will look at this (for interest) at the same time and feed back.

Similar feed-back for me. Very happy with the Moen Flo. I bought the Flo sensors as well as they were not overly expensive but they are not necessary. They give you an additional piece of mind for areas that could be higher risk (water heater catastrophic leak, washing machine overflowing...) but abnormal patterns will be picked by the valve/flow monitoring device. Like you, I have started adding a few Resideo/Honeywell Flood sensors connected to my alarm system. I did it before buying the Flo system. Check with your insurance but you may qualify for some rebates with Flo installed.
I have not integrated with Control4 yet as I am not sure it is worth the cost (driver). But your call. The Flo app is really well done and as Don explained, works well and gives you immediate feed-back before taking action. And if you have a family, there is a good chance that in the first few weeks, someone will complain that the water got shut off... after a 25' minute shower!
You can request professional install but I did it myself. Not difficult to do if you have a reasonably easy access to main water line and manual shut-off valve. Highly recommend - every house should have something like this, whether it is the Flo by Moen or another one. Water damages are very expensive, painful and one of the easiest things to prevent... Feel free to reach via DM if you need more details.

ashwinmj reacted to Don Cohen in Dam-it, Moen Flo, other?
You are correct - the Moen Flo monitors your water usage and pressure, developing a 'model' over the first couple of weeks of use. After that, it is then able to detect unusual patterns indicating a small or large leak. You can configure the Moen Flo App itself to do what you want, including automatic turn-off. It's actually pretty slick.
My wife took a shower a bit longer than usual, and I received the alert on the app, and I also have it configured to call my cell. I have it set to auto turn-off, but I can override this either in the app, or via the phone call. Same thing happened when Stanly Steemer was here cleaning the rugs, and using a fair amount of water. I received the alert and phone call, and was able to over-ride the auto turn-off that would otherwise have occurred.
It does a nightly check as well, and alerted me to a slow leak. I then discovered an outside faucet that had a slow leak, and which needed to be replaced. No alerts after that.
And it works well with Control4. I have a 'Vacation' experience button which when activated, includes turning the valve off (along with other programming for HVAC, lights, etc.). And when we return a simple tap opens it up, and restores everything to normal.
I do have a few external sensors (refrigerator, kitchen sink area, washer), for a little added protection. But these are optional, and the primary functionality described above does not require them.
So you could say I'm extremely happy with the Moen Flo.
