It’s a shame that you want to replace Control4 with Harmony. You can have a remote dealer from this forum take a look at your system and see what can be done.  They are great programmers here that can fix your issues.

I'm wondering has anyone switched over or reverted to a Harmony Elite setup from C4.
I have had C4 and Phillips Dynalite installed since 2015 and have never been happy with the way the system has performed.
My dealer has made multiple visits, and each visit seems to break as many functions as it solves problems, and in the meantime I continue to receive ongoing bills. Tonight for example, I can't even change satellite channels after having had a Sky satellite driver installed.
I'm therefore thinking I best take control back to myself and install a means of control, such as Harmony, which I at least can control myself.
I'm thinking my biggest problem is lighting control - can the harmony system integrate with Phillips Dynalite?

@rolldog Yes, the input issue was fixed with the new proxy.
@turls I'll set a bit of time aside later in the week to get the required commands into the driver as programming commands.

I've replaced one of the proxies in the driver (the Virtual Switch) and will be phasing out the previous version of the driver. Auto-updating the old drivers would cause problems as the proxy type has changed. As such the file has been renamed so people don't try and update over the previous version, this version requires a fresh install.

    https://annex4.link/drivers/udp-203

I've added the advanced commands in the protocol as device specific commands for this release as well.
    Changes:
Added discrete mute commands. Added 'Set Output Resolution' command. Added 'Set Zoom Ratio' command. Added 'Repeat' command. Added 'Set Subtitle Shift' command. Added 'Set OSD Position' command. Added 'Set Time Information Display' command. Added 'Set HDR Mode' command. @turls
You'll need to go to the virtual switch portion to send the mute command.

wappinghigh reacted to F0ZZ in Is Alexa becoming a C4 competitor at the low end?
I chose C4 for two primary reasons. The onscreen display and physical remotes. My previous control system was Simple Control ( formerly Roomie Remote) which is primarily a DIY system. It has most of the capabilities of C4 for a lot less money. There are dealers who install this system and it can be programmed remotely, but set up is pretty easy so I would imagine this system is 99% DIY. No drivers to program, most products just work (IP, IR or serial). But without a physical remote, it’s uesability is lower than I wanted.
In my mind C4 is a high end product that caters to people who don’t want to or can’t be bothered to set up their own automation system. It is certinally more powerful than most other offerings and Im happy to have a system in the works. But C4 needs to treat Alexa and other “smart home” products as competitors. If they don’t, they may find themselves in the same boat Kodac did when they didn’t take the digital revolution seriously. Apple HomeKit as another example connects to thousands of devices, it’s free, is easy to set up and works remotely. It isn’t a complete package however like C4.
    C4, stay on your toes!

    SplashTiles web feeds
Requirements:  html/php web pages.  All standard html/java/javascript/php/html5 supported.  Video also supported but not as optimized as NetPlay video sources.
If you encounter embedded video performance issues please use a "VIDEO URL" source instead of "WEB URL".  IP cameras in iframes generally work best as jpg file fetch.  We have an example javascript function which shows how to easily add that method.
Please see our documentation for instructions.

    Web streams
Requirements:  http live video stream.  mjpeg (SD), mpeg2 (HD), vp9 (UHD), h.264 (UHD), or h.265 (UHD) encoding
External lists (not all verified) https://www.safetricks.com/watch-free-live-tv-on-vlc-player/

    Networking
Since NetPlay Home is standard ethernet, please only post devices with ISSUES here.
Cisco Managed switches:   Cisco managed switches turn flow control OFF by default.  This can cause packet loss on some networks.  Under port settings, select encoder / decoder ports, edit, set "Flow control" to enable to resolve.
Moca adapters:  ActionTec ECB2500C works great, recommended for coax distribution

You would be leaving the amp on all the time at 80-100% volume. You would be better leaving the amp and hc800, locking the inputs and doing 1 last programming run to set the amp to use audio sensing. Turning on the zone and stopping a timer when signal is present, then when it stops start the timer. And when the timer expires turn the zone off. This will make it so you can just go get 8 sonos connects and plug them into the amp, never mess with the c4 UI and as long as no hardware fails never need additional programming. If cost is an issue you could group some zones strategically so you would only need 3 or 4 sonos connects which will give you some volume control through the sonos app but not each of your existing zones

    hi,
I tried using it, but the input seemed to randomly roll based on what the original input is. so for example, I have the ATV connected to the rear HDMI on the oppo, and the oppo has a HDMI run to the projector and the 2nd HDMI out is used for the audio which runs to my current receiver.
in composer, I have the binding from the oppo output linked to both the receiver and HDMI2 on the projector, and the out from the ATV is linked to the HDMI in on the oppo inputs.
the system defaults on any 'on' command to directv (run from dvr to rec to HDMI1 on proj through rec).
when I change the input to OPPO, the video on the proj. changes to HDMI2, but the input on the OPPO will either change to BLURAY (if the last thing watched was ATV) or to ATV (if the last thing watched was BLURAY).  the same thing will happen when I select ATV, it will roll to the nect input, and does not seem to be able to select the correct one.
using the IR driver I am able to send a 'input' then '2' when selecting ATV, and this seems to work fine every time.
I am also selecting input 'bluray" on the ir driver for OPPO selection,a d this seems to change it to the correct input.

I didnt see these control options available on the IP driver, unless there is a newer version of which I am unaware.

Depends on the content services.  Obviously since they are just android apps we could go forever.  The majority of the hard work was done by Video Storm so thanks should really go to them.  All i did was create an alternative version of the driver which offers a more streamlined experience.
No it will not work with the Sony TV.  It is designed for step top boxes.  Since it is app based and USB HID based the API is fully under Video Storm's control and won't break with firmware updates.

Chowmain - Nvidia Shield / Amazon Fire TV 4K driver (Video Storm IRUSB)
The Videostorm IRUSB device allows us to control any Android set top box including the Nvidia Shield, Amazon Fire TV, Foxtel Now, Xiaomi MiBox and more.
The Chowmain IRUSB driver for Control4 provides IP control over the IRUSB with sms style text entry, direct app launching (via mini apps), transport controls and it also adds additional IR outputs to Control4 which can be used to control other devices in the local location such as TV’s and receivers.
Note that this driver requires a installation of the IRUSB dongle created by Video Storm. No root access required.

    Features
IP control over the majority of Android based devices such as Amazon Fire TV, Nvidia Shield, Foxtel Now, Xiaomi Mi Box and more  Adds an additional IR Output for control over local source (eg TV or receiver)  SMS style text entry for SR-250 / SR-260 remote controls on number keys.  Mini apps for direct launch on any navigator for many popular applications  Custom mini app for launching of other applications not listed  Mini Apps include
ABC iview Amazon  DirectV  Disney  ESPN  HBO  HD Homerun  Hulu  iHeartRadio  Kodi  Netflix  Pandora  PBS  PLUS7 Showtime  Spotify  Stan Tunein tenplay VEVO  Vimeo  Youtube  Youtube TV FAQ

What hardware will this work on?
This driver will work for the following devices.
Nvidia Shield  Amazon FireTV  Xiaomi MiBox  Foxtel Now  It should also work with the majority of Android Boxes but we recommend you test it prior to driver purchase.
Note you will need to purchase and plug in the IRUSB dongle from Videostorm and install/configure the IRUSB application from Google Play store.

Can you give us some examples of how we could use this driver?
Add additional controlled AV zones to Control4 by simply adding an Android box. Control the TV using the IR emitter and control the Android box via IP.  Devices such as the Nvidia Shield and Amazon Fire TV have problematic control. For example in 2017 Amazon broke ADB control in their 4K lineup of Fire TV’s. This hardware / software combo gets around these issues and ensures it won’t happen again.  How do I find out more information about the driver?
Please see the links below for more information about the driver.

The driver has always had the ability to use the input of the Oppo.
You will see there is bindings for the input and if you bind a device to the input you will then have it as an option under the watch menu.
You only need to hide the matrix portion of the driver.

Actually the reason I didn't reply faster is because I was driving to work, eating breakfast and in my morning routine not bcusae I don't have an answer.
NYCE and Card Access have both built remotes, not remotes like you are talking but still it illustrates the point that 3rd parties can make hardware for Control4.  AXXES is another 3rd party zigbee integration.
Any my idea of built it yourself isn't a wise crack.  I have started 3 businesses and have another full time job.  I believe in innovation and startups.  I wouldn't have started 3 different companies if I didn't think I could fill a gap.  One company has 5 employees now and in it's first year of business has nice revenue and growth and has raised angel funding that is pretty impressive.  Not gloating but just saying, I FIRMLY believe in the American Dream - work hard and build something

What's the best way to control a PC running Windows 10 with a C4 remote?  Using the Windows Media Center driver?  Will that allow you to map a button to "Ctrl-Escape" which is equivalent to pressing the windows key?  That then allows you to use the transport keys to select items on the Win 10 tiled start screen, including Netflix, etc.

Which we have seen at least a couple of times that I can think of. Sure it's nice while they work, until they don't work... then you're stuck.
I am constantly trying new drivers and devices in my system to stay on top of things. My system is solid and IP drivers don't just "stop" working. I don't know what kind of networks people have out there that have had such poor luck with IP control. But to me, that's a poor network design or implementation that is causing the issues, and needs to be addressed. DO IP drivers solve every problem? No. Is it nice when an IP driver is available over IR or Serial? Sure.
I'm not seeing the huge draw for control of game consoles, either. Maybe for DVD/Blu-ray control but that's it? It's a game console, that's why it has a game controller with it. If you want "rock solid" control for video playback, buy a dedicated player for that particular media. Otherwise, complaints need to be made to the manufacturers of these devices (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, etc.).This is not a Control4 problem, they have no control (no pun intended) over what these console manufacturers do or don't want to allow.
EDIT: And long ago I thought IR capabilities on the remotes might be nice, but that just introduces too many variables. Using your phone or tablet to control the room? Out of luck. Didn't point the remote perfectly at a picky device? Out of luck. The list goes on.

So why wouldn't it be useful to be able to control a PS4?  Or a Shield without an IrUSB?  Or a PC?

wappinghigh reacted to zaphod in Why don't C4 controllers have Bluetooth?
So then what do people do for control if they have one of the following:  PS4, Wii, Switch?  And the Shield (and other AndroidTV devices) would be more easily controlled with BT vs. other methods.  Some AndroidTV devices have built in IR, some don't.  Some have apps that can be controlled with IP but I don't think that is the case with all apps - I think it is true for stuff like Kodi and Plex but not native apps like Netflix, YouTube.
BT for audio and HID are two different beasts but there is no reason that it can't work.  Cars can have multiple BT conections to your phone -- for handsfree audio, data, etc.
AndroidTV had noting to do with BT (otherthan you can use BT to control AndroidTV devces) but I just thought I would throw that one out.  I have been reading up some of the stuff on Netplay and with AndroidTV on the controller it could act as a receiver for content from Netplay.  But even if you don't care about Netplay you can get almost al of the content you want with apps in AndroidTV so it can allow you to go back to one source in many instances.  A controller can act as an audio receiver of a sort with stuff like Shairbridge and Spotify Connect, so why not do the same with video?

@wappinghigh the Shield is the best 4k HDR server there is. Stable HDCP 2.2 (I know that's important to you, haha) full 4k (not faux K) and HD audio (only streamer with full codecs for Dolby and DTS).
The Pro version has IR built in, and works flawlessly over IR, but is 300 bucks. For $200 out the door, you get IP control with just the regular 2017 shield and the IRUSB. Strangely enough the video processing for streaming actually even LOOKS better than the roku.

My second room is getting one of these..and roku's are going out. Too sketchy.
@Matt Lowe will be the integrator with this unit.
