So I made 5 Amazon FireTV Mini Drivers that I couldn't find; these being:
    Kodi (Sideloaded onto my FireTV)
    ITV Hub
    Demand 5
    Red Bulll TV
    BBC News
I was surprised at how easy it was.  I also customised a photoshop script I found online that at the click of a button will take any square PNG file (More than 140x140), and create the experience*.png and device_*.png files for your project.  This essentially means that you can make a driver in under 5 mins (Including figuring out the App ID, and finding an image online.

What is the best way to share these - Should anyone want them?

hey @alanchow this is an awesome driver, really makes the c4 media experience better! (and makes my T3s much more usable haha)
one question/comment/suggestion, it doesnt look like there's a way to shuffle a show. normally, when we turn on a show, we go to roku > plex > the show > shuffle. would there be a way to invoke this in your driver?

Remember ios1 could not even send a photo message? Missing basic functionality that your feature phone had.
Ios like C4 gets more feature laden and more scenarios are needed to test.
Apple's own crash logs say the software is getting more stable.
Apple build ios for ~4 pieces of in Life hardware with no integration just Communications stacks. Easier to test.

Please know I don't think anything is malicious or intended.  Of course not.  But sloppiness or lack of investment in quality is an issue, particularly in a system that limits people's ability to help themselves.  For example, 2.8.1 might be a "free" update, but I can't do it myself.  And even if a dealer isn't charging for the update, it's still their time to go around doing it.
So in that environment and context, I would just like C4 to place much more emphasis on quality control and testing....  It's a business decision, since they could be more bug free if they wanted to -- other industries are -- like Autos.  Remember when iPhones used to "just work," and then since Steve Jobs died, you've seen more frequent iOS updates with increasing major bugs and problems.  iOS9 so thrashed my out of warranty iPhone6 that Apple actually gave me a new one!

I understand what you're saying about not "running" the security -- I don't use C4 as the means to run the alarm or do self monitoring.  I have a separate monitoring service for that.  But there are many other features that are squarely in C4's responsibility that touch on the integration working as expressly sold by them and working just fine before the updates.  For example, I expect to get the notifications and alerts that the security integration provides.  I expect to be able to run outdoor security lights / pathway lighting and get text alerts when a fence is opened unexpectedly, based on the sensors and triggers set up in C4.  When all of those things break because of bugs they introduce in subsequent updates, it has real implications on security that the alarm itself isn't set up to cover.  I don't want to go back to individual motion-detector flood light units!  :-)

there is already one for bbc iplayer... i spent a good hour making one and 'hacking' the mini driver until i refreshed and found C4 just released one!
I made a TED one, as not available yet, uploaded into this thread
Theres a custom mini driver for anything not yet available and a description of how to make your own...i found this AFTER i deconstructed a mini driver to make my own
I can see C4 integrating this mini driver business into the 'channels' media section of composer, rather than creating new drivers and icons tend to change with time.

    Chowmain - Plex Full

Plex is a centralized home media playback system with a powerful central server (Plex Media Server) that streams its media to many Plex player Apps which can reside on a number of devices from Roku, Amazon Fire TV, HTPC’s, mobile devices and even Smart TV’s. The Server is available on many platforms like Windows, OS X, and many flavors of Linux, as well as many NAS devices.

The Chowmain Plex Full driver is one of the only Control4 drivers to have full library integration including Movies, TV Shows, Music and photo browsing/searching/playback and can be used to control Plex on various platforms including Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Sony Android TV’s (FY15 up), Dedicated HTPC’s running Plex Home Theater or Plex Media Player.
This complete solution provides the consumer will seamless playback of content from any Control4 interface including SR-250/SR-260, Onscreen Navigator, Touchscreens, IPhone/Android based Navigators and more.
This driver will only work on Control4 OS 2.7 and above.
    Features
Ability to browse/search/playback Movies, TV Episodes, Music & Photos from any Plex client/server with cover art including local or remote servers.  Ability to browse content by recently added, recently aired, recently viewed and more.  Ability to resume movies or tv episodes from where you have left off.  Ability to program any event in Control4 to trigger playback. Eg keypad on the wall, security system disarm, motion sensor trigger.  Ability to automatically turn the room on upon playback. This is good for dedicated Plex systems where you might want to send playback of content from your mobile device or tablet to your TV.  Two way feedback for client state (Play, Pause, Stop, Playing Video, Playing Music, Playing Photo, In Navigation)  Can be setup for any Plex Client including Plex Home Theater, Plex Media Player, Plex for Roku, Plex for Amazon Fire TV and Plex for /Android TV's.  Ability to launch Plex on Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices. Upon media playback the driver will launch Plex on the device, wait for it to startup and then start playback.  Support for Sky Now TV and Telstra TV boxes (Roku rebadged boxes).  Ability to return to the Roku, Amazon Fire TV or Sony TV drivers upon exiting Plex. Makes the experience seamless.  Ability to return to onscreen navigator on playback ended. This is great if you want to hide Plex’s interface and use Control4 only.  Ability to switch users. This allows for content restriction based upon username/passcode. Limit children to G rated content only. This also allows multiple family members to resume playback from different spots.  Frequently Asked Questions
I'm confused which Plex driver should i be using?
A while ago we created the Plex Home Theater driver and Plex Media Player driver. These drivers utilised the older Control4 media player interface which could only handle movie integration. Back in August 2015 we released Kodi Full. This driver utilised a new method to display content on Control4’s devices. We decided that we would improve on our Plex driver’s by doing something similar and have named it to match our Kodi Full driver. Plex Home Theater is still an excellent driver and may do everything that you want. Plex Full however is superior to Plex Home Theater and the development time period reflects that.
Do i need to the Plex Media Server driver as well?
No additional drivers are required to operate Plex Full. Please read the installation PDF to get an understanding on how the driver works and how to set it up.
Can you give us some examples of how we could use this driver?
Browse/search/playback movies, tv shows, music, photos from Plex.on any Control4 user interface including touchscreens, onscreens, smart phones, tablets and remote controls.  Resume content that you have started watching from where you left off from a different Plex client.  Complete your media playing solution by pairing our driver with a Roku or an Amazon Fire TV. Both devices can utilise streaming services such as Netflix or Hulu. With our driver installed the customer will now be able to browse/search/playback any of his own personal content on the system.  Create the perfect cinema experience by dimming the lights down when a movie starts, ramp it back up when the movie ends or if the user pauses or stops the movie.  This driver provides two way feedback on what media you're consuming and what the state of the media player is. It will tell you when the movie is playing, paused, stopped or if it is a video, photo, song or if it is in navigation. This information is useful for customising your lighting and environment to suit your customer's requirements.  Start a movie on your tablet and then cast it to your theater to have your theater automatically turn on.  Fall asleep at the TV? The driver will automatically turn the room off once the movie has finished after a period of time.  Setup a button on your onwall keypad to start playback of you or your family’s favourite movie. One touch playback. Great for kids.  Limit the content your children can watch to G or PG-13 rated content by using User/Pin codes.  What hardware will this work on?
This driver has been tested on Roku (including Telstra TV and Sky Now TV variants), Amazon Fire TV, Sony FY15 Android TV’s, Plex Home Theater (OSX/Windows), Plex Media Player (OSX/Windows). If you choose to use it on any other platform you do so at your own risk. It should work however you will find the problem is launching into the application on the platform of choice. It is recommended that prior to purchasing this driver you utilise the free 48 hour trial period for testing.
NOTE: Amazon Fire TV OS 5 and above currently has a bug which do not allow multiple ADB connections simulataneously. If you chose to utilize the the Fire TV with OS 5.0 and above then you cannot add in the official Control4 Amazon Fire TV driver. This is due to a single connection limitation for ADB. You can however utilize the Houselogix Amazon Fire TV driver as it will launch Plex for us.
Why do you only support OS 2.7 and above?
We utilise methods exposed only to the Control4 OS 2.7 Driverworks software development kit. It will not work with any lower versions of OS.

I know they are just the distributor, but they are also the support center.  If there is an issue, though Alan is helpful and does answer some stuff here, he does ask for tickets to be open.  Matt discussed some issues with the VS implementation, turns out its on the VS side, not the kodi driver, but still if I did need support or basic troubleshooting (had Matt not found this out prior) I could see issues.  If I am going to spend a few hundred on drivers (not just Alans, there are 1-2 more I wanted) I want to make sure the distributor will stand by their product.  I already have 2-3 other HL drivers, and I've had other issues and same thing, very slow if any response.  The Rachio driver comes to mind (they built it, again different in this case, but support channels are the same from what I can see).  This is getting off topic on the thread, but just voicing my reasoning.

When you go to search and enter your zip.....is there anything you can do if your provider is not listed?  For instance, I'm in 20011 (washington dc) and comcast and a few others come up.....but no verizon fios.    Anything we can do with this?

UPDATE_-- entered a few different zip codes and found some verizon fios.... sorry for the bother!  just had to play around more....but still annoying that it doesn't list it in my zip.

This driver does so much.  It provides browsing/searching/playback of movies, tv shows/episodes, video files, photos, music library, music files, audio addons on any navigator device.  Playback state feedback, automatic aspect ratio detection (if you have a screen that masks and projector that supports 2.35/16:9 mode changing then you can automate this), automatic room on playback and room off on screen saver and much more.
Have a look at our Kodi Full product page for full details on what it can do.  Watch the videos on the page to be wowed.

The new proxy has the ability to set a default code for each partition.  I expect the idea is that it will use this default code when you programmatically arm or disarm the system.  Unfortunately, this does not seem to work.  I've seen reports for multiple security panels stating that this functionality does not work.  I assume the concord 4 driver has the same problem.  I'm not sure if this is a proxy problem or a failure in the protocol driver to read the default user code if set.  Since all the security panel protocol drivers are encrypted there is no way to be sure.

It would kill all international association.
How would that deal with Dish's competitors - both internationally and locally?
Where would Dish take it as far as R&D goes?

If it were to happen - it would end up a disaster for the home automation side.
And I really don't see it benefiting Dish at all either.
That's apart from the fact that adding a ZigBee radio to one device is a long stretch from getting into 'home automation' (which is NOT adding a few lighting controls to a remote) - let alone taking over a company far removed from their target market.

It's not a limitation of the Control4, rather that lower end TVs often dont have the ability to select "HDMI 1", rather they just have a toggle input selection where you have to keep hitting the input button until you get the input you want. Sometimes you can get lucky and even if the remote doesnt have a button for each input, discrete codes from higher model tvs may still work.. but there's no way to tell until you try it.

msgreenf reacted to Cyknight in Driver issues with Insignia (BestBuy) TVs
URC (as in not the brand but the codes for generic universal remotes) codes are meaningless for C4.
What you'd have to do is learn in the codes for the input changes. If the remote you have has actual buttons for each input - you're golden, but any half-decent dealer would have been able to do that.

Lacking that, depending on how the TV works, a custom macro may be possible.
This will largely hinge on if a) the tv doesn't auto-jump inputs that it doesn't see a signal on and if there is SOME way of discretely getting back to the built in tuner (ie a separate button to do so, or a channel up command brings you there).

Lacking that - you'll have to start searching for IR hex codes and good luck there.
One final option that you MAY have available is to check if Logitech has a driver for your or a close model - and see if it has discrete input codes. If it does, you could get whatever base (cheap) model from logitech you can get, add the TV there and use that remote to learn the codes into Control4.

Thanks.  I'm not sure if the Homerun app is supported as a PVR backend or not.  I guess the only way to get around it would be to have IR support built into the Kodi driver, to accommodate the IR remotes you can add to Kodi.

It's not that I plan on using the Raspberry as a PVR, it'll mostly be use for movie playback, but the Homerun app works pretty well and can act as a nice backup with the wife and kids have tied up the 4 Comcast boxes.   With the Raspberry on the HDMI matrix, I'd be able to use it for TV as well.

Great work though on the app.  Thanks.
