eggzlot reacted to RAV in HDCP 1.4 and 2.2 - can someone explain in plain english
Yes. the "things" (several vendors) provide the HDCP 2.2 key and EDID to the source device that it can't get from the 1.4 port that you're trying to connect to.

Greenfield Solutions is thrilled to introduce our brand-new MEGA Camera Driver! We're taking a fresh approach to camera management in Control4 projects, putting the power in the hands of end users to dynamically add Camera drivers via the Camera Agent. This innovative approach simplifies licensing and consolidates all camera drivers into a single license, offering maximum flexibility across different brands.
Exciting news for existing users: all license keys from Blackwire Designs will seamlessly activate the Mega Camera Driver, regardless of the original camera driver you purchased. Please note that Houselogix drivers are not compatible with this new product and will require a repurchase. However, if you previously purchased our drivers from Houxse, we're offering a generous 50% discount. Just reach out to mitch@greenfieldsolutions.site with your original Houselogix driver purchase details.
One of the most significant advancements in this driver is the dynamic delivery of supported cameras and driver updates via the cloud. This means Greenfield Solutions can effortlessly add additional cameras requested by customers, eliminating the need for constant agent updates.
Getting started is a breeze! Simply download the driver from Driver Central https://drivercentral.io/platforms/control4-drivers/security-systems/greenfield-solutions-mega-camera-driver/  head to the Agents Tab, click 'Add,' and select the Mega Camera Driver. Get ready to revolutionize your camera management experience with Greenfield Solutions!

At launch, our driver extends support to the following brands, with the rest of the Greenfield Solutions portfolio set to migrate shortly:
    •    Dahua (all variants) NVR
    •    Dahua Fixed (all variants) Camera
    •    Dahua PTZ (all variants) Camera
    •    Avigilon
    •    Reolink
    •    Reolink NVR
Stay tuned for updates as we continue to expand compatibility to provide an even broader range of options for your camera integration needs!

I think Heos works too with C4 drivers
Though I agree, if they can build a Triad One, why not just do a model with a build in speaker...I guess Sonos is so huge they figure the install rate would be minimal.

A status landing page would be welcomed.
that said AV is quick to find, you could set up a dummy room called "Home" and have your locks/sensors/alarms on that page for a quick visual but it would be a hodge podge attempt at best.
Not calling out those who "don't" want a dashboard, but there is a reason why dashboards are popular in the corporate world - cuts through the noise and you can see important things (to you) at a quick glance

So what is the programming?  When kids AirTag is noticed unlock the door?  If the kids are old enough to get off the bus themselves and come into an empty home without an adult can’t they put a code into a door lock?
I have a dog - No AirTag in her.  How would I use geofencing for my dog and program stuff?  I guess if you don’t have a fence and just let the dog roam around town and when the dog is back on the property blink lights?  Is this something big in the luxury market?
i think localized in house geofencing could be interesting.  Like with Josh you can turn on TV and it should know your room - ok.  There is something different there.  But like I said there is a lot of logic needed here to make this super elegant so someone walking thru a room doesn’t auto trigger lights or media when not wanted.
    Exterior geofencing - I don’t see it I guess.

I guess it all comes down to 2 things:
    1) Voice > I still dont get the appeal, I have enough sensors/timers/programming in my house, very rarely do I need to adjust lights, if I do, a cell phone/c4 touchscreen isnt far away.  There is 1 scenario where sometimes I like to adjust lights using voice control, so I solved that with a $39 Alexa, though I could also likely program a button on the SR260 to do it for me too (just thought of that now)
    2) Apple Music > I dont pay for that service
So to me, I have a single interface for control of media and home automation.  My media is Pandora, SiriusXM and Audacy along with distributed video and its all controlled within the same interface.  I guess I cannot tell my home to play XYZ, I just press a button to do it.  But is paying $100's a year in licensing fees + upfront hardware costs to Josh worth telling my Pandora what to play vs pushing a button?  And if I wanted to mess around enough, maybe I could create media scenes around playlists and tell my $39 alexa to play something and it plays out of the EA Controller.  I know Josh is a premium for security/not selling your info, etc I am not saying there isnt some value if you are starting from scratch it is at least a bit more in the C4/Savant field now.
Of course I could be in the minority so YMMV

    Dude.
Ad-free subscription is literally less than $.03 a day.
Or "stick it to the man" and run an ad blocker.
Or just deal with the ads?
    I'm not judging.
I just don't understand coming to a forum, from which you have clearly received value, to bitch about ads, while not bothering to hit the easy button.
Hope you figure out a good solve.

I am excited to announce that Greenfield Solutions is the 1st Ryse Home blind automation dealer. Ryse home is a great solution for retrofitting existing blinds and making them smart. The hardware connects to the pull chain and will open or close it. It comes in battery or plug-in style as well as having an excellent driver from Chowmain!
Happy to help anyone looking to explore this option!

a licensed unit from c4 to do what?
They have made it public that 2n, Doorbird, Akuvox and Comelit work if they support standard SIP and there are certified C4 drivers and they have an SDK if others want to write drivers (which I believe there are a few 3rd party doorstation drivers for other brands now available).  I use some hardware that isn't available anymore called a 2n Video Kit and it works just fine with the standard 2n Driver (only a 2n Audio Kit is still being sold).

any 2N door station will work in C4.  That doesnt mean a branded/labeled new "C4 doorstation" is coming to market.  But anything by 2n, Doorbird or 1-2 other firms will work fine in C4.  I have no insider knowledge either way.

Even if you don’t need PoE out…if you have a PoE switch feeding behind the TV you can use this device 1 poe in for power and data and 2 outputs
small form factor and no additional power outlet needed if you can get Poe there:
    One of many versions:

Use the EA5 until it dies or C4 does some updates that are not supported and you need those features.  You should be able to get several more years out of the EA5, if not longer, and then if it becomes obsolete there is always a market in EBay to salvage a few dollars.
Your summary of your house isnt all that different than mine and I have some complex programming involved and I have an EA5 and an EA1 and it works fine.  The Core has a little speed bump I think and a few features geared towards higher resolution audio, but as far as running a house like yours, it’s fine.  If you needed more performance you’d look at a CA10 (which is going to be overkill I think)

well its simple to test sirius on your end - add in two drivers, manually execute them to play in different rooms and see if it works, or if the world explodes
pre C4 I was a Pandora person and just of habit have never left.  Turns out you can have lots of Pandora drivers with no problem so its never been an issue for me.  8 audio zones, 8 pandora drivers named like Kitchen Pandora, Dining Room Pandora, etc...each keypad in the room is to control that specific room Pandora driver, though I can always link any of them up with the add zone feature.

I have no inside knowledge But this comment made me curios so I looked:
OS2 was launched in June 2010. OS was launched June 2019.  We are only at 3.3.x now, whereas 2.x went to what, 2.10 or maybe 2.11 or something?
Seems odd if OS4 is right around the corner…

I wouldnt use any system that locks me into a camera brand so Unifi would be out.
In my home I have cameras from Vivotek, Dahua, Panasonic and Amcrest.  They all fit different needs for price/size/color/FOV and other misc features.  That is why I never suggest going to Costco and buying 8 identical cameras + an NVR or looking at Unifi that locks you in.
As someone asked above, I am not 100% sure, but I believe Synology will work with any ONVIF camera.
For me, Blue Iris + 1,000's of ONVIF compatible cameras + a free (or for more features paid) C4 driver available.

Neo will NOT work with your old wireless sensors (wired is fine)
Qolsys IQ4 (don't use the hub, doubt Pro is needed) you can get the DSC powerg + dsc (older) version and re-use all the wireless devices.
It's certainly the easiest way to replace.
