HomeAutomationNerd got a reaction from tseveendorj in Intercom Anywhere and Akuvox
I've got an Akuvox R20A (Doorbell + camera) working locally with C4 Intercoms (the T3's etc). I'm on Control4 OS 3.1.3.
Intercom Anywhere is having problems. Through the IOS Intercom Anywhere app, I get signaling from the Akuvox ("Incoming Call") by no media stream. That is, I get the IOS notification for an incoming call, I hit the "answer call" button and then nothing.
The T3's work properly thorough Intercom Anywhere, so basic connectivity and setup is good. I've been all through the Akuvox Wiki, to no avail.
    Has anyone gotten this working?

HomeAutomationNerd got a reaction from istreich in adding HC800 for additional audio streams
I believe the two would be very similar, with the HC800 probably having better DACs. Either way, I don't believe you can specify which stream is used when - I think C4 figures that out.
Amusingly, I also went down this route. I ended getting an EA5 instead. The DACs and Amps on the EA5 are quite good, and for processing thigs like Tidal MQA streams seemed the best overall choice.
If you're "desperate" for 1 more stream, you can also use the HDMI output on the EA3 for an output stream. Just buy a $20 HDMI audio extractor of Amazon, and then you're good to go.

HomeAutomationNerd got a reaction from chudel in OS 3.2 Out today! with new products!
They seem to have updated quite a bit of the internals. For example, Node went from v6 to v10. Hopefully they did a general O/S update as well, and pulled in all the latest (and more secure) Samba and File system drivers.
With the Node update, I wonder if they're considering running Homebridge on the EA1/3/5. That would bring a huge new feature set...

HomeAutomationNerd got a reaction from AMG1199 in Network file storage and long passwords with QNap
Last night I changed all the passwords on my QNap. I went with long complex auto-generated passwords, that look like:
    (Password Example): Lkp#WEPU6QzdO?8)PvX6YAy1QxZaa2
Turns out the Control4 Network File Storage driver (or something in the network path) doesn't work with a password like that. After resetting the password to one simpler, shorter, and not having what appears to be forbidden characters, things connect and work again.
The error was "Unable to connect to the network share".
I put this here in the hope that the next person won't have to spend an hour of network debugging trying to figure that out.

We use the RGB experience driver which gives the ability to easily cycle through however many preset colors a customer wants.  Have yet to have someone complain about that.  It's simple and it works.

There are so many other factors to choosing a projector:
    application
    brightness required
    screen size
    native aspect ratio
    throw distance
    ambient light levels
    budget

Go and speak to a professional and get them to sort it for you.

These are indeed wall outlets - https://www.kasasmart.com/us/products/smart-plugs/kasa-smart-wifi-power-outlet-kp200
Also Amazon has them on special, though you can only order 2 at a time and only 3 times I believe.  Does make me wonder if they have a newer version being released and this is a dump of current stock.
Anyway, these outlets work amazingly well with Control4, as do their switches which are the best for non-critical areas.

If you use the Tidal family plan, you can have parallel streams but they do each need to run from a different instance of Tidal in C4.  A bit of PT to set this up... but after it is set up, it is great.

    https://drivers.control4.com/solr/drivers/browse?q=Multi+Screen+Wall&fq=certified%3A"true"&fq=manufacturer%3A"Control4"
This driver is designed to control up to 20 screens in a room arranged as minor screens around a major screen.  The primary use of the driver is to enable the customer to easily swap the source displayed on a minor screen with that on the major screen.  This is most often used when customers wish to follow more than one sports event simultaneously switching the focus between games as they progress.
The driver and method described here provides the customer with the flexibility to control such arrangements using the standard Control4 UI.  The control of the major screen will enable them to both control the source currently displayed and easily swap with another screen.  It is also possible to control any of the minor screens with a separate control device (Touchpanel, App or Remote) which is great when friends come around.

Disagree - the EA series has better DAC
The outputs are prioritized automatically by quality - so digital ports then EA ports, then HC ports.  That is how I understand it

    Let's see...

    In no order

    Room control
    IFTTT
    Bond
Alarm driver - insert your flavor
Hvac driver - insert your flavor

    Maybe it's a top 6?
But with this collection there is virtually nothing you can't automate

I’d go (also in no particular order):
    Janus Technology - BMS monitor
    Cinegration - Flo
Domosapiens - Generic Blinds (Somfy and Bond)
    Domosapiens - DSC
Domosapiens - Security enhancements (if you don’t have a Domosapiens security Driver)
    Jooced - Text to Speech
    Jooced - Push Notification images
    Chowmain - IFTTT
    Chowmain - Notification Suite
    Chowmain - Experience Button Suite
    Chowmain - Bond Bridge
    Yatun - Thermostat display
    Yatun - calculator
    BNet - bTimer
    Bnet - bEgauge
    Blackwire - Emoji
Greenfield - Renamer (I use this less now as my system is relatively stable... but this was my most used driver at one stage).
Annex4 - LG driver (deserves a mention as Toast messages takes basic TV integration to another level).
Coolmaster (not sure off the top of my head who’s driver this is).
I ignored Room Control (as this is a native C4 driver and my list was 3rd party drivers) but agree with MS that this is a great driver. I use all of these drivers daily and will definitely be trying the Domosapiens Advanced Lighting timer when I find a gap. The Cinegration Agents package also looks interesting!
I’m probably missing some as there are a lot of cool drivers out there.

HomeAutomationNerd reacted to ejn1 in DSC-IT100 -> NEO - Upgrade or not?
I find the wireless options better with the NEO and more options to integrate via ethernet.   I had a standard DSC system with the IT100 prior and glad I switched.   I would have needed to purchase a paid driver to get the new C4 alarm gui and instead of doing that I just purchased a new NEO system and used the opportunity to program and Unlock my myself.

I use arm and the current state of every upstairs door and window sometimes but that was quite a bit of programming. It is rock solid for me.  The trick in my case was inserting sufficient delays between commands being sent to the DSC.

Today I did an Ambilight to my Living Room TV, ws2812b, 5v 10ams PS, Arduino Uno, temporarily on Xiaomi Android Box, it’s freakin awesome but I will take it to the 2nd level with a Raspberry PI!

I also have a new busy light I built for my office with a RPI zero w.  It has an API that is working and I am writing a driver for it!

HomeAutomationNerd reacted to South Africa C4 user in DSC Security System - Tying into C4
I agree with the above comments (if I was doing this again). That said, I have an older DSC panel with the IT100 and it has worked flawlessly for me apart from one lightning strike which fried the IT100.
There are many different DSC drivers out there.  I am using the Domosapiens one and yes, you can program off zone states and there is no need to split the wires.  One advantage of the Domosapiens driver is that it has a number (6, I think) of zone groups so you can create a group called doors (and link all the door sensors to this) and then know whether all doors are closed or at least one is open easily and without additional programming.

Quick question for those that have integrated DSC NEO into C4 using the TL280. Is the functionality between Serial and Ethernet Integration the same? Or is one preferred over the other?
I am in the process of removing the TL880 originally used for Alarm.com integration. Unfortunately there is not a C4 driver for the TL880 yet so I am going to make the switch and install the TL280 so I can integrate with C4.

HomeAutomationNerd got a reaction from ejn1 in C4 controllers with 10G
In traditional terms, a controller is the Control Plane. For that you want reliability, resilience in the face of network failures, and features like battery backup.

The Data Plane is where you need bandwidth. This is where AV moves around your network. You can envision a house - even how - with 20+ 4K video streams (cameras, etc). That data flows through you main network, not a controller.

HDMI (and whatever is next) is a similar high bandwidth data plane.

There is a bit of crossover (a controller does some music, a bit of video transcoding while an HDMI. Link might carry some control-plane data.

Generally though, given current architectural designs for software and hardware, a 10gb link wouldn’t be on my priority list.

Now eARC and other tech is high in my list...
