Some Sony AV receivers support eARC WITHOUT CEC, which makes the control easier. (Unfortunately, mine does not.)

That's interesting, because CEC is not a requirement for eARC to function at all, it is transmitted over the previously unused ethernet channel pairs as a completely stand-alone audio signal.

  2. 1. Do  you have panelised/centralised lighting controls or are they all via keypad dimmers/switches

    2. If the former, the fallback behaviour for some of the keypad buttons should still function without the primary controller being up and running, that is if the installer has bothered their arse to correctly configure the fallback behaviour. If that does not work then at the very least you can control the loads from the individual circuit buttons on the 8 channel dimmer/relay modules themselves.

    3. If the latter, the keypad dimmers, if factory reset (tap top button 13 times, bottom button 4 times, top button 13 times) will default to the top button toggling the power of load 1 and the bottom button toggling load 2  (if they are a dual load dimmer/switch), of they are a single load dimmer/switch then I think any button will toggle the load attached.

  3. We do the same where possible, EA-3 or EA-5 in rack for main control and audio streaming duties, EA-1 - PoE version behind each TV for OSD, ZigBee and local IR control.

The whole system runs more stable, remotes respond instantly and OSD is for that room exclusively as it should be.

This is how you put a Control4 system together according to best practice recommendations and it works. Anything else will be a compromise somewhere.

I've been to loads of jobs where the original integrator has tried to run everything from a single centralised controller, splicing IR from it to remote TVs, sharing OSDs between multiple rooms via a matrix and stretching ZigBee range to its limits. None of them worked well or reliably.

    Do it right first time.

Did you ask the powers that be on this forum to create a UK specific forum?  The downside to a group on Facebook is that you have to use Facebook and more people are deleting their Facebook accounts due to their dislike of Facebook's business model.

    No I didn't.

  5. Hi all,

Not sure if allowed to post about this so please delete if necessary.

I just wanted to send out an invite to a new FaceBook group (Control4 Community UK) I created with the intention of increasing communication and collaboration between C4 dealers and end-users in the UK.

This is primarily aimed at partnering UK dealers with end-users to generate mutual partnerships along with the discussion of integration requests and solutions that may bring the two together.

I'm aware there are lots of new dealers on the scene who could benefit from a bit more visibility and lots of end-users who have older systems no longer maintained by their original installer or they may not even be around to support the system any more. Likewise, there are also lots of people who inherit C4 system with the purchase of a property and have no idea where to turn to get the system working as desired and ongoing support put in place.

It is primarily aimed at UK based dealers and end-users but all are welcome.

In your opinion, would this be a better option than the other suggested option of leaving the amp on all the time, running a 3.5mm?Cat6 from each Echo back to the matrix as an input?

If you have the option of running an audio cable back to matrix from each Echo then great, but as a retrofit solution this works.

For a small room, why are you using tower speakers?  I wouldn't want a Triad 1 driving those.  I'd be looking more at the bookshelf type, with a separate sub for extra thump if needed.

You would think so, but more often than not larger speakers such as floorstanding models tend to offer higher efficiency than smaller bookshelf models and so, contrary to what one might think, they might be a better match for a lower powered amplifier than smaller speakers.

Hello, I didn’t contact anyone about this besides this forum. You’re taking too much of your own time just to write the incorrect paragraph about me and starting useless drama. I don’t need you to break my reputation on this forum and for you to say these untrue things about me is insane! I don’t even have a facebook account (lol). Spend your time helping people and not forming a group of people who happened to have the same query as me to believe it’s me. I’m obviously not the only one to ask this question- Goodbye.

Just to point out the first 4 words of my post were “I could be wrong here” so if I was then so be it.

Either way, what you are asking for is quite simply against C4 dealer agreement and any dealer found doing so or having done so will find themselves terminated as a dealer.

  9. I could be wrong here, but the OP of this thread may well be an end user who initially contacted me via FB asking about remote programming and then turned out they were looking for access to Composer License and asking about receiving training from me on how to program the system etc.

I have already given them all the relevant information about it being completely against dealer policy to do so. It is also very likely that the termination of the previous dealer being referred to by the OP was for related reasons.

Anyway, just a heads up for anyone else that @yoho decides to get in touch with.

If any other dealers who have been contacted by the OP and wishes to contact me about this member/user the please feel free to PM me.

So I am binding the IR out from the controller to the new LG Driver? or the display?

From controller IR our to the dummy IR copy of driver. No other bindings needed at all.

Then in Programming tell it to turn on IR one when IP one turns on. IP one can remain as primary driver and video endpoint for the room.

@Crustyloafer Should I have a second version of the native LG CX driver for this?  With only 1, I have IR bound from the loca EA and I can't even get it to flash.  Any tricks will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, just add a second copy of same driver to project, obviously no need to bind/identify via IP as you are controlling via IR, just bind the IR output from the controller to its IR input.

Then in programming I just configure that when 'IP Controlled TV' turns on then turn on 'IR Controlled TV'.
