I just called tech support for clarification.
An old account upgrading to a Core DOES NOT have to pay for Connect and may fully update to the latest OS!!
Connect ONLY triggers at creation of a new account, and does so for ALL new accounts regardless of processor or OS!
Home sold systems need to either have the previous owner do a change of email to the new owners, or new owners will HAVE to pay Connect for a new account, even for an HC running 2.10.6.
In theory there is a resale value to dead accounts.

I personally despise the 'modern' C4 look but to each there own. I much prefer the 'traditional' version (especially in midnight black with an actual stainless steel cover).

That said, tastes will differ. I do like these: https://www.axxind.com/smarthome/touch-keypads/

Rithum is another options that I've looked at but never used them. I'm concerned about speed of control a bit on those and just had zero time to trial them.

In the end, we've done VERY few alternative options - because the added cost of alternative keypads with less snappy control, or much more expensive keypads that work just as well tends to convince even the most 'liquid' clients. 🤷‍♂️
We've played with some KNX options and things like the blacknova aria but it's rarely gone anywhere, and frankly they rarely work quite as well as a regular keypad.
Most cases it's a few alternate options in specific locations such as decked out theatres but the majority still regular keypads.
The problem with the overly fancy options is also that they POP a lot more. Which is nice in a demo setup and looks great on a web page showing one of them....but it tends to become this obvious thing sticking out on every wall of your house if you put them everywhere and actually can feel like MORE wall clutter, not less. Just something to consider.
Also, while the 'touch' look is again nice, think of how you live and move around in the house. A 'tactile' keypad over the course of a bit of time become muscle memory - you walk across the house and merely 'feel' what button to press, do so blindly and move along and you get what you want. Generally for any touch options - you will ALWAYS stop and look at what you're doing.

Not telling you NOT to do alternate and fancy options - but don't get drawn too much into the look of something, that may be better of not being noticeable at all.

Those are touchscreen alternatives, as in an alternative for using a touchscreen, not so much keypads, and I find them rather 'meh'

My comment has nothing to do with C4. A lot of us integrators dont use ADI for reasons.
However, if you think things were slowly evolving  for Control4 now.. just wait.

As a dealer I dont suggest proprietary  panels. I am an iPad + iPort guy for all touch screen situations.  WallSmart is also a great place to look.

Since you worked for a dealer, you know the rules.  You need an email that’s associated with a dealer account.
Find another dealer to work for??

Control4Savant got a reaction from BY96 in Unifi APs Dropping out of Controller but Staying "Blue"
Not exactly. Unifi does not have any rear port switches for example. Network switches are all somewhat the same and usually pretty good by any brand. Now that Araknis routers have OVRC and a half decent firewall they are not an awful choice. Id still use a more advanced firewall.. so thats 3 brands.

Network management software is really just for convenience. Most network parameters are universal. The macbook going to sleep doesnt cause APs to go offline.  I know this because I run lots of networks both ways.

You didnt give me any reasons besides Autonomic involves a single unit.  You said after discussion it fits your needs more… I personally doubt that, even without knowing you or your system.

Today, Autonomics (and Sonos) have deeper app integration with Josh voice control than native C4 audio apps. Not sure the techical/licensing reasons, but the workaround for those doing distributed via native streams is to add a Sonos port or more.

To be clear, this isn’t a Josh vs Control4 thread, it’s a Josh with Control4 thread. I have never integrated a standalone Josh system. I have done many Josh systems that integrate “into” Control4 for voice control. The argument cannot made that the synergy is incomparable to any other voice integration. It’s quite powerful and very useful.

Sure Sonos could as well. Not everyone wants Sonos though (I think Sonos is great but I do wish Control4 would just revert back to the old unsupported API). Seems really strange to chastise him for choosing one product over another.

and  how would Sonos not accomplish that. Theres a variety of additional products Sonos offers that a dealer based/supported system like Autonomic cant compete with. Not to mention potential future music service compatibility Sonos is always at the head of…

Ok I’ll share my story, even though it’s off topic. I don’t mind the C4 UI, which I think is nice, but I think Savant’s is a little nicer. I renovated a home down to the studs and spent a lot of time cross shopping systems. Those were my final two choices and I saw a house with an amazing Savant setup.

However, I am really big on third party integration and tinker with my system a lot - like constantly. C4, at least when I bought it, had significantly more 3rd party integration. I haven’t kept up with Savant, but that was the big reason I chose C4. I was looking for something that could integrate a large range of devices from different vendors and that would be stable/reliable (because I was coming from SST, which was anything but and ran primarily on Z Wave). Home automation is a hobby of mine but I don’t have time to be constantly fixing broken stuff. My job is too busy.

I’m not in love with Alexa but I really like voice control as a medium. So that’s why I’ve been interested in Josh.ai from the beginning, but 15k for it, which is where it was for a 5 year license and all the stuff I’d want, was not an insignificant cost and even pre-lawsuit, I’ve always been worried about large commitments to smaller companies that are developing new technologies.

Now that I’m a bit removed from installing my C4/home automation system and I’ve fully paid for it/my bank account has recovered, I’m interested again - and I hear the pricing has changed and is maybe a bit more favorable.

This is a C4 forum (I know your use is to sell Savant which is all good. Savant is a nice system but most of us on here have C4). I asked questions because I have C4, am interested in Josh.ai’s products and interface, and want to know if it integrates through C4 (and if C4 could block it). I’m not trying to take down Savant, Josh.ai or insult you. It’s all good.

Lutron and Vantage are not a home automation systems. They are comfort control brands. They will always be a partner, not a competitor to whatever list of lux brands we make. Josh wants to be the premium software that handles them and besides hardware processors and I/O IR control, a sleek system specific smart remote other brands seem to have difficulty with is the only other hardware piece they need. They will continue to build business on integration with only few critical but really well made hardware skus.

Without question, the network chipset in the Micros is finicky (versus flakey).  I tell my clients to turn off the "wake Beep" on each Micro as it seems to work 100x better in catching the commands.  Once that's done, I never have issue with Josh understanding a command, nor have I gotten negative feedback regarding not understanding (with the "wake beep" set to off in each micro).  It's not listening for that split second and sometimes causes issues with the command.
