Ironic that it works with 13,500 third party devices but not its own HC250.

You could go the Ebay route and purchase not too expensive EA1's and touchscreens.  If you have a lot of speaker points you could go Sonos and not worry about your OS upgrade being tied to your sound system equipment.
Control4 supports 13,500 third party products, you might be better off buying cheaper tablets with wall mounts, I/O extenders, doorbell cameras.
I get questions on my system all the time because of my touch screens.  It's kind of a showcase for the product, but they will be being replaced by sheet rock now.  There is no way I'm spending $1k a screen every five years, this is not an iPhone.
Bottom line, the less Control4 branded products you have the less you need to worry about swapping equipment every major OS release.

I wish they would have extended the life of the HC-250 to at least allow it to be for IO and a Zigbee extender but oh well. C4 usually does a good job of hardware life. It would be even better if they would get rid of the audio and video portions on the controllers. Especially video.

Yes it will, because I paid for it.  How is that is good news?  I see that posted quite a bit.

Technology changes quickly.  The lesson I learned is that it's best to spackle up the holes in my walls and not make the same mistake again.

I think it's fair for Control4 to EOL a 9 year old product.  It's also fair for me to not invest in a product that costs $900 per screen plus installation cost.

This is a pretty brutal update.  Losing MYHome on Mac is terrible, I use it all the time.  Having to replace in wall touchscreens isn't fun and replacing my HC-250 (Which I only use as IR extenders) is pretty tough to swallow.

Having successfully used this for an hc300 to drive a legacy serial device in a 2.10 system, does anyone know whether this will still work for 3.0?

And if so is there any prospect of an equivalent for an hc250 that I just use for IR control of a couple of devices in a room.

    Many thanks

Yes, the 'Advanced Audio' (OS 2.10+/3.0) version of the SpeakerPoint is the Triad One.
Much better audio quality and better power output as well.

I have one touchscreen and when it is no longer supported I will not use another one. Voice is the way I control my house. The fewer analog/physical interfaces I have the happier I am.

Reasonable is subjective.  To me, 9 years of support is reasonable.  To me, $7-$10k for 1-2 controllers and 4 new touchscreens to get an enhanced UI is not reasonable.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Uh, road maps are typically shared in industries with complicated supply chains so that customers can plan their own purchasing and manufacturing accordingly.  that really doesn't exist here.  That said, the armchair lawyer opinions being shared here about trade secrets and insider trading can safely be ignored - none are even close.  Sincerely, an IP lawyer.

    You can't confirm that.
And if you actually could confirm that or not, you would be breaking the law. So, let's say you DO have an inside source. You're risking their job and/or their freedom by sharing this.
Conjecture is great. Pretending to have official word when there is no official word is not. It's pretentious and annoying, and if you're actually right, it's reckless.

    - Maybe they shouldn't spread the news so it's easy to find on google...maybe you should ban google?  Thats probably the best move.  Yeah, ban Google...SMH.

Not that I could find online.  But, Just look on Google before Kevin L. bans them (google).  Thats how I get my information, as I am just a end user, as my profile says.  I have no knowledge of inner workings at Control4 or now Snap AV?  Or 4 Snap?  or Snap 4 Control?
