Control4 model is not to tie together a bunch of different already-in-your-house IoT items (what I think you want, unless you are planning to replace a bunch of stuff).  It's to provide a (relatively) closed (or relatively open, depending on your view), dealer-administered stable infrastructure for whole home automation, including lighting, shades/fans, A/V, thermostat, cameras, intercom - quite a few of which are either the house brand or a subset of brands whose integration is supported by C4 and known to work well by your dealer.  And to the extent that a driver has been written for this or that IoT thing, support for that too as a lagniappe.
You say you are a DIYer - if you want to experiment tying your listed items together, try Home Assistant.  There are integrations there for each of those items.

Hmm… What is it that Control4 won’t let you do with the DS2 as it is?
    Let’s see:
My DS2 has a Bluetooth module that works super awesome. I just touch it and instantly unlocks my Yale lock. I have custom programming based on who unlocks the door using the Bluetooth module. I mean, entering a code is so 2020.
I have customers with on-site PBX and the DS2 is connected to both the PBX and Control4 with no issues.
I can do programming in the “Automation” section of the DS2 and integrate that with Control4.
I can send HTTP commands from C4 to the DS2 and viceversa for more advanced programming.
I can switch to an external camera from my T4 or mobile app while on a call with the DS2.
The DS2 will play an announcement telling the UPS/FedEx guy to leave the package at the front door if no one is home and no one answers the DS2 call after 30 seconds.
When someone rings the DS2, it will tell my PTZ to point to my front door and it will tell my NVR to bookmark the event with the tag “Doorbell” for stupid easy event search later if I need to check who rang the bell.
I can go on and on… but you get the point. If you are not using everything the DS2 has to offer right now, you are missing out.

It's not a Control4 issue. The pandemic created an insane worldwide increase on demand of tablets due to remote learning for the kids. This demand on tablets was bigger than what LCD screen manufacturers could produce. I'm sure LCD manufacturers are busy 24/7 producing screens for the big players leaving smaller companies like Control4 struggling to get supply.

Latency is not an issue at all. You have to stand inches away from the T4 to notice it. The T4 is an awesome panel. Hi Res, great contrast and color saturation. It fixes two huge flaws form the T3: Cameras feed show up instantly and the audio using the intercom is clear. Miles away from the T3.

Go with Mitsubishi, no doubt about it. You can add the Mitsubishi Thermostat Interface to the head units. It’s a module sold by Mitsubishi. With this module you can connect a Control4 thermostat to the units. Or any thermostat you choose.

Wait, a touch screen remote is better than one with buttons for Home Theaters? That doesn't make any sense. I grab my SR-260 and I can navigate in the darkness with no issues and without having to look down at all, try to do that with a touch screen remote. SR-260 might not be pretty, but it's great for Home Theater applications.

Chico reacted to coredyn in Kohler DTV Plus
I thought I would share my recent addition to my system. I have a Kohler DTV+ shower that has a network interface as well as a web portal for minor changes and has some control over the device.
I decided to peek around and inspect some of the web elements to discover a repeatable URL that I can use to trigger shower start and stop. You can discover these by simply using 'Inspect' in chrome for example and log the devices activty as you activate/deactivate the shower for example.
Below are the two commands I am currently using in my system, you can modify the valve outputs and temperature. Mine right now is set only to turn on valve 1 at 38C.  Right now I use these links as an image in announcements (to trigger the weblink as an image on my T3), I then have it linked to custom buttons on my bathroom screen as well as IFTTT/google assistant (OK Google, turn on the shower)  . I do not have the Chowmain driver to push weblinks but I think I will update to use that to trigger the URL in the future.
    ON: http://IPADDRESS/quick_shower.cgi?valve_num=1&valve1_outlet=1&valve1_massage=0&valve1_temp=38&valve2_outlet=0&valve2_massage=0&valve2_temp=38&_=1529517501631
    OFF: http://IPADDRESS/stop_shower.cgi?_=1529517501635
It is not flawless, and I would caution when trying to discover the correct links if you enter one incorrectly the Kohler web portal will become non-responsive and you need to power cycle it (this took many power cycles for me to figure out correctly).
Nonetheless, I can now tell my shower to turn on an off which I was quite excited about.

Chowmain - Yeelight Wifi RGB LED Lighting driver for Control4
Yeelight manufactures a range of affordable Wifi controlled LED lighting products. The range consists of dimmable RGB, White and strip based LED lighting. These products do not need a hub like other wireless lighting products and integrate directly into Control4 with Chowmain’s Yeelight driver. This two way driver allows do dim the light, change the color of the light, change the color temperature of the light and more.
    Features
Two way control/feedback.  Instant feedback if LED controlled from another application.  Automatic Discovery of Yeelight  Self Healing on change of IP Address  Automatically hide RGB and/or Color Temperature’s from Navigator on model detection.  Change RGB color via navigator  Change Brightness via navigator  Change Color temperature via navigator  Program color flows from Composer  Advanced Lighting Scene Support  FAQ

Why is this better than other RGB solutions?
This is an extremely affordable solution (starting from $20) which does not require an additional hub to operate.  We have full control over pretty much every function including color, temperature, brightness and even color flows.  We have instantaneous two way feedback. If the customer uses the original application Control4 gets the change immediately.

Chico reacted to ERDrPC in Best Add-ons/3rd party hardware?
We are in the procurement phase of my large install. I've been reading this forum for years in preparation...I know, get a life right!!
I'd like to keep everything away from the cloud.
I hope someone can help fill in the blanks or provide experience. I'd love everything to have IP control. I have a synology 715+ NAS with a bunch of backed up Blu-rays. Using JAP for video distribution to 6 TVs. Every room has a in-wall TS along with table top for bar area. HR260 for each TV.
4KUHD - 2 x Oppo 203 (one local fed back to rack via JAP and one rack distributed out) - C4 has a IP driver
HTPC/Streaming - required sources - Netflix 4k HDR, Amazon prime 4k HDR, Vudu HDX for ultraviolet; required audio - Atmos if available; Need two of whatever we go with as three adults and child in our home
    1. Roku Ultra - has universal search, easy to integrate, only atmos thru Vudu, ethernet. How easy is it to navigate between apps or enter using HR260? Can the C4 app on an ipad/iphone/android  or can the TS be used to enter text for searching?
    2. HTPC - I have a current 1U rackmounted HTPC - this would need to be upgraded for 4K HDR and HDMI 2.0a/b. No universal search. Control thru USB dongle. Kodi or Plex.
    3. Bolt + OTA - I'm in Canada so only the OTA version is useful for me. I cannot find control options/driver using C4? The OTA is not 4k ready ie is not ATSC 3.0. It has Ethernet and universal search. Has all the streaming sources including plex for backups.
    4. Kaleidescape  - best hardware and polished on screen display, no streaming, no TV shows, not all the studios yet, cannot play backed up sources
    5. NVIDA shield - has universal search - ? voice only; has all the sources. I cannot find control options/driver using C4?  How easy is it to navigate between apps using HR260? Can the C4 app on an ipad/iphone/android or can the TS be used to enter text for searching?
Garage door control - 3 x liftmaster 8500. I think I'm stuck with MyQ and their wireless bridge. I wish I could have this hardwired like my current opener is
Generator - I've seen some programming on this site. Looking at Generac 48KWQs or 60kW vs Eaton 45 kW vs Briggs & Stratton 48kW. Anyone have any feedback or tips?
Irrigation - want smart watering with ideally ethernet connection
    1. Rachio - gen 2- cloud based - would rather not use wifi
    2. IrrigationCaddy - hardwired - local control, no smart features
    3. Rainmachine - touch hd-12 - wifi only
    4. other suggestions?
IP Camera and NVR - we will have 12 camera's. 4 to 6 will be Samsung 4k at 30 FPS and the others will be 3 or 4MP 1080P at 30 FPS camera
    1. 4k - Samsung PNV-9080R
    2. 3MP - Samsung  SNV-7084R or Hikvision DS-2CD4535FWD-IZH/DS-2CD4535FWD-IZH8
    3. NVR - my installer is not happy with the Hikvision NVR. We are looking for an NVR that we can tie into C4. The cameras will be going into a cisco POE switch. H.265 with 4K support would be great for the main feed security recording and H.264 sub-stream at 1080p or 720p for the C4 TS/onscreen. Samsung has a NVR but it's $7000 CDN. I believe the C4 system can pull the sub-stream independent of the NVR...is this correct?
    Surge Control & UPS
I live in the GTA and Torus power is willing to sell me a AVR2 60BAL direct. However my installer doesn't believe the hype with Torus. I believe Torus allows for IP control and individual power cycling.  He installs panamax. I'm looking for undercurrent/overcurrent/surge/etc protection for the rack. Torus is suggesting 240V in and 240V out into a large UPS to allow for all the cisco/ruckus/C4 equipment to be protected.  Anyone care to chime in with suggestions? Tripp Lite makes a large battery backup UPS SU6000RT4UTF. Again my installer uses someone else.
    Door video intercom
Why can't C4 license crestron's SIP protocol or further develop their own. Elan has their own which allows real-time video doorstation chats. Doorbird is crippled as there are only two active streams and once one picks up the others cannot join/listen. I've looked at Holovision and mobotix and neither is perfect. It seems invixium NOW also has an intercom system. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si8h9Lv-4M0 It can trigger an external camera for video and it provides the two way audio. I'd like to know if anyone else has tried this? Will it work with C4 TS? Can all TS participate in a call or just one? Is there external coverage - ie answer from cell as if you were home? They also have added camera's to the TOUCH and new TITAN. I wonder if these will directly integrate??
    Landscape lighting
I like the DMX controlled coloured lights but my installer has never installed them. He is a dealer for costal source. Bullet proof lights but boring design. Plus we want natural gas powered tiki torches!!
    Door Locks
We may do invixium for our wine cellar.  They are joined with Hoppe to do the first C4 controlled multipoint door lock. Very cool but also $$$$ see http://www.us.hoppe.com/media/wysiwyg/PDF/Keyless_Electronic_Multipoint_091614.pdf Rest of the exterior doors will be Baldwin - I wish we could customize the finish to match the rest of our baldwin handelsets.
    Other cool add-ons
Steamist shower control; sump pump alarm alerting, nuheat signature in-flooring heating control, carrier/tekmar control of 3 AC units and 3 Air handlers with full basement hydronic floor heating (upstairs is subdivided in 6 zones for each bedroom and library),
It would be great if there was a sticky with recommended equipment. Maybe this can be a start??

Well now - no luck in getting this player distributed yet so I just connected it local for the purpose of doing this driver.
c4i driver file for pre 2.6:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/99vm6y1q9mwb5im/dvd_Samsung_UBD-K8500.c4i?dl=0
c4z driver file, will show custom icon in 2.8.1 and up (should work on earlier versions down to 2.6)
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/4iog1cdwja2e2ca/dvd_Samsung_UBD-K8500.c4z?dl=0
All 'different name' buttons are available for programming or mapping to the color buttons/custom 1-3 buttons.
I added both ABCD and their respective colors to the driver as codes, for redundancy.
'eject' is mapped to channel up
'pulldown' (info/123 hold) menu to channel down - this one's a bit wonky though
'home' is mapped to page up
'tools' is mapped to page down
    'netflix' is mapped to record
'return' has been mapped to both prev and cancel
    'title/pop-up' is menu
    'disc menu' is guide

The downloads/driver section of the forums does not yet allow c4z files (already requested) - but once it does I'll upload them there as well.

Regarding cables, if you don't follow the forums on avsforums.com, there are a number of (very long) threads in the bluray players section (along with various display device sections) about issues that people are running into with the samsung uhd player using even hdmi 2 18gb cables as they can't seem to handle 4k/60fps at 4:4:4 chroma subsampling (which the menu on the player uses) depending on cable length (and other factors). So, if a new cable doesn't do the trick, there may be other things you can try to get a picture.  Hopefully additional firmware releases from samsung will help.  Just an fyi...

Sorry for the delay folks.  I've been swamped at work and haven't had much time to mess with the Control4 stuff lately.  However, that said, I do want to get a functional version of this out soon.  When the snow clears this week I will make sure I get a version with the basic functionality (at the very least).  It won't be all that grand to start, but at least we'll have something to test with.

No need for donations.  This is something I like to tinker with in my spare time; just haven't had much of that lately.
