  1. I ran 16/4 to my windows, not Cat6. but after choosing QMotion for shades, I do wish I would have used Cat6 as it would have been cleaner. With regard to how to run the wire to the window during pre-construction, you have to decide if you are going with inside or outside mounted shades. We went with inside, so I ran the wire through the framing coming out the top sill 2” from the window and 2” from the right side finished framing (so the finished drywall). So you know, when you use QMotion in zigbee control configuration, all you need is power to the shade and for this, QMotion uses 3 of the Cat6 wires for + and 3 for - low voltage power. For this you can use either Cat6, Cat5e or even 16/2. It just depends on how universal you want your pre-wiring to be. Again, if it was me, I would decide on the shades now and wire for them. Another trick I did. For all TV and computer locations, I ran an electrical outlet back to a switch in my AV closet. I then later rewired that switch to my UPS. Now all tv’s and related equipment is on the UPS and nothing flashes when power flickers. And, I do not need UPS in all my rooms.
  2. Regarding Qmotion, my experience is they need to be on a UPS (battery) so they do not lose power. I have not had to make any adjustments since putting them on the UPS over 18 months ago.
  3. One thing I did on a new build a few years ago was to run a 2” conduit from my AV Closet to just about every wall I thought I might want future access. In two years, I have used them a few times, so paid for them all more than once. In some rooms, I wasn’t sure which wall the wife would want a future tv on, so I ran conduit to multiple walls. My only other comment is you can’t have too many in-ceiling speakers. And home-run them all. Then you can chose how to zone them later. For any walls that had no access from attic (i.e. second floor above), I ran Cat6 if I even thought I might want a future panel of any sort. So final comment, future proof your new build by building in future access and then don’t stress trying to get it all correct now.
  4. Please do let us know what functionality is available with Wolf Ovens and Subzero Rerig. So far I have held off integrating, but if the functionality is there to start the oven, it might be worth it. Thank you.
  5. Search Matterlink on this forum. There is a C4 driver available.
  6. I have wolf ovens, but decided against the C4 integration. If you decide to integrate your wolf products into C4, I would love to hear what your experience is. That said, i do think it would be nice to be able to see and adjust the temperature zones in my sub-zero wine refrig.
  7. So to be clear, the CAT does not run through the window frame itself. It runs through the rough-in window frame of the house that the window itself fits into. Hope this makes sense.
  8. I’m not home now, but my shades are all inside mount. The CAT6 comes thru top of the window frame is 2 inches back from the front and two inches from the right side. You only need about one foot of lose cable. I have dual shades in most windows, so run two CAT6 to each window if you want dual shades.
  9. I have qmotion and love them. I have Cat6 from each shade back to my AV Closet where I have the qmotion power supplies. They integrate nicely into C4. Just make sure the shades are on a battery backup power supply. I have no experience with Somfy.
  10. Pounce, thank you very much. I will take a look at these.
  11. Can anyone point me to a nice RGBW fixture replacement for standard 6” can light fixtures? Thank you in advance.
  12. Does anyone know if it is possible to adjust the camera field of view on the DS2?
  13. In addition to BraydonH’s questions, do you know: 1. Do the PAR30 RGB bulbs need constant power to function properly? 2. If the bulbs lose power, do they remember their last state when power is restored? Thanks so much.
  14. Can you say more about how you would use the motion sensor in C4 integration?
  15. My panel is connected to home network IP by TL280 communication card.
  16. Not sure. Look on the internet for a download or ask your DSC dealer. It’s not as guarded as say Composer Pro. I got it from my dealer, and I know the dealer rep approved it. It is somewhat intuitive, but if you start asking too many questions, and don’t know what you are doing, my guess is they will cut you off.
  17. I installed simplisafe in my daughters apartment. Very nice and easy to install and program. But not for a house. Programming is limited, and door/window sensors, while small, are not hidden. Both are deal breakers for me.
  18. Programming is simple if you have ip connection and get the DSL5 software.
  19. Does anyone know how to integrate the DSC Neo into both C4 and Alarm.com? It this even possible?
  20. I am told I can set up my DSC panel to both Alarm.com and C4. They gave me the TL880 dual path Alarm.com version communicator, which has both LTE and Ethernet. Does anyone know if this will work with C4?
  21. I have Mobotix cameras but have been waiting years for their audio integration into C4. 2.7 now supports the SIP protocol i'm told. We just need to get the Mototix driver written to enable the communication. The T24 may still be your best choice, if the driver shows up soon and if you upgrade from 2.5.3 to 2.7 (which as a long time user I highly recommend).
