This is a known issue (as discussed in other threads).  Apparently, C4 is aware of the issue and its being worked on.  I agree - it's super slow and VERY annoying.

You don't. You don't have Spotify connect in c4. You are using it on your amp. I would recommend disabling Spotify connect on the amp and then letting me enable it on c4 w room auto on

Do you have "Auto Room Select" and "Auto Play" enabled for the Spotify driver in your room?  This helps with some of the app-switching stupidness.  With these options enabled, you should be able to just launch the Spotify app and choose your Spotify Connect driver.

I agree on the refurb - I had a few new APC's, needed another and a lot of people suggested refurbs.  I found a good deal (and found good online reviews) at http://www.refurbups.com/Refurbished-UPS-Systems/APC-UPS-Systems - so I placed an order I remember in the afternoon.  10 minutes later I get a phone call, it was RefurbUPS - not only was my order in stock and ready to ship ASAP, the company is literally 20 minutes from my house!  One of their employees lives 1-2 towns away from me, called and said hey, want to save ~$30 on shipping (or whatever it is), he said I can meet you tonight at the local diner.  Yes I was lucky, but from order to receiving the unit was less than 4 hours!  And its been up and working 100% for ~18 months.

Might work!? If the CA-1 cant easily handle this with lots of room to spare then they need to get rid of it. A lutron caseta smart bridge could handle that and lots of scenes without blinking.
    This forum notoriously overspecs controllers.

There are still lots of console exclusives, consoles are still simpler than other options, and many couch-coop and couch-multiplayer games still are being developed.
And the biggest thing IMO, in a household with kids and adults that play, is if you buy a digital copy of a game on Xbox One, you basically get two copies of the game.  Each person can get their own achievements, you don't have to even log in as the adult that bought it to play if you designate the "kid" Xbox as the home console.  That can't be said for any other platform that I know of.

I have a DSC Neo with the TL IP communicator.  It's not doing much right now.. just handling smokes.  About to start adding sensors.  Give the guys a call at alarmsystemstore.com.  They are super helpful and their prices are very fair.  They will even pre-program it and ship it to you if you desire.

You can add programming to C4 that will do things like turn off lighting/TV, etc when the alarm is armed.  You can arm the alarm from either C4 (using a T3, app, etc) or the alarm keypad.

Go the "my home" room in composer, click the navigator tab, go to locks and sensors and you can make them visible in that room.

It would be called RGB off the top of my head. It's just a toggle 'bulb' that shows different colors that you pre-program (ie 2 shades of green, blue, red, purple etc).
It's better than tinkering with slider all the time, but it's a far stretch from a color wheel

Ugh - I wish Control4 would implement a native color wheel.  That price is a little steep.

I have seen a Beta version of the app (not sure if I should have seen this, nor am I sure how far we are away from an iOS app update) but I can say that from what I saw, it looks to me like the next version of the app will load up on a local network in about 1/3 of the time that the current app takes... In short, I am not in the know, but do believe that this will be resolved soon! Those in the know are probably constrained from commenting.

I agree. The DIY market will continue to grow, but the way I see it, the actual controller or 'intelligence' will be some sort of cloud service, so a SAAS type approach to avoid the cost of hardware, but will have a recurring cost. Essentially what a NEST CAM is in comparison to a self-managed NVR; both have pros and cons, and I think common sense dictates which platform works best for which customer. Obviously SAAS approaches have implications relating to recurring costs  that are not fixed, security and ownership of the system.
In my opinion few dealers actually 'do' automation or fully integrated control. Control4 and other systems are deployed in a manner that is akin to what Harmony and a voice could achieve for a little less money on the 'single room' basis.
The typical 'resi' installation is all about zoned AV control, maybe lights, maybe climate controls. There is little in the way of actual real automation programming being done by the large majority of installers, regardless of the control platform. Ultimately this erodes the value of the industry as a whole, or at least the perceived value of it.
Comparatively speaking Control4 is NOT expensive: ELAN, Savant and Crestron are all more expensive. As nice as Savant is, it uses fairly agressive tactics to encourage dealers to use their products, or rather, to punish them if they don't - as an added bonus, vendor support is nowhere near as big as C4; NEST being one of many examples one could cite.
I can also reveal that 50% of the people who are becoming Savant dealers are electricians and similar, thus this will erode things further - because AV installers used to have a genuine passion for all things AV, including audio quality.
We all know where Crestron falls in this - go an buy a $50 Roku device for your Crestron managed system, and you'll get a $800 bill to have it installed.
ELAN is nice, but just not as well supported by vendors for drivers, and the hardware costs are well above C4, and further the product range is not as complete, and therefore relies on relatuvely pricey 3rd party products such as those by Global Cache.
I have used RTI and URC too, and cost wise, Control4 certainly isn't more expensive on modestly sized projects.
Without doubt the DIY market will continue to grow, and within that Control4 has a place in it - and it is something that will work within that market rather than being a purely binary option option.
The best way to look at this is not for it to be reduced to a simple 'either or' approach, it can be more of case of 'this AND that' if there is a genuine value proposition for the end user to use a combination of technologies.
Arguing which is better, DIY or Control4, is akin to the facile debate of whether HDBT is better or worse than AVoIP - both technologies have their place, both have their strengths and weaknesses, but there are cases where the best design solution is to use a combination of the two, rather than one or the other.
Ultimately the lower to middle income Generation X'ers and Millenials are tech savvy, and most will shop around and most will try and do it themselves, no matter how attractive the hardware cost of any of the big automation brands - because ultimately, and I am one of them, we believe it is something we are capable of doing on our own.
The actual value behind custom install is not solely the technical specifications of a product, or its brand perception, but the abilities of the installer; the real question is whether the the end-user believes there is any value in paying for these skills.
I can tell you that in the main that the average user does not appreciate the value of a custom installer, and thus will either go the DIY route, or will select a dealer who can do it at the cheapest price - a bit like getting that new bathroom fitted. Ergo the DIY market grows.
There is a place for the automation/integrated controls installer, but I think it is isn't wise to focus your attention on that end of the market too much, it is a battle you ultimately won't win unless you can commodotise it; the value a dealer is meant to offers is a service in the form of design, consultation and programming, rather than a product bundle - and in the main, the average consumer doesn't actually get that, we are too used going onto Amazon, buying a piece of tech, and installing it DIY, be it a printer, or a TV, or Hue light bulb.

Another +1 for Neil's services here.  He worked with me over the course of several nights to get my brand new C4 system programmed.  Neil was able to answer any and all questions that I had and make the system work exactly the way that we wanted it to work.  He even went out of his way to help me get some missing parts that I needed.  Everyone in my household has been happy.  Thanks, Neil!

Great questions actually.  You do need to have your dealer create a room called My Home or Dashboard or whatever, and then add whatever you want to that room's screen.
You can add favorites to a room, they don't need to be "in" that room, but they need to be visible in that room's watch or listen menus, or in the case of lighting, you can click on "all rooms" to see lights and scenes from any room.  If devices aren't visible, you can of course make them visible using composer HE, or have your dealer do it if you don't have HE.  In the case of the "My Home" room, when you create that room just make everything visible.
    hope that helps
