Says it comes with an adapter for a standard one gang box.   That’s a big plus for me since I would replace an existing Ring Elite.

It’s because of various reasons 
they take a deposit and run and never come back 
they start the job and never come back to finish  
they do the job and it’s a bad install and bad programming and are not experienced enough
They sell product  online 
and my favorite , they send a quote to this guy for $70,000, This trusting guy pays the diamond dealer $70,000 no questions no bargaining just pay in full up front before anything. This dealer installs , hc250,s and prior generations touch panels When ea and t3 were already out for 1 year! Then in his quote was 9 control 4 LUa receivers (for the control4 matrix) when he installed a binary matrix kit with baluns. Then he never finished programming. The entire centralized lighting never worked. This guy had to go in his basement to reset the lighting modules every day to get them to work. He included 2 Amps and a matrix that were used and he bought years before the install. I saw the quote. Everything was sold as brand new. Nothing ever worked. 
 
not only did c4 terminate them, but c4 really took care of this guy. Because that’s the kind of company control4 is 

 
 

Just a word of advise, DIY systems is a pain in the ass, you will regret this move for the rest of your life, upgrading firmware and drivers all of the time, fixing breaking things and sudden changes will make your life miserable specially if you hate tech or you growing tired of it ... 

I use alarm contact sensors to program off of for lighting. Open garage door to mud room and both garage and mudroom lights come on a 15 min timer, open the large garage door lights go on in garage, etc. So many options most people don't automate and just control mostly. When you start getting to this level it's night and day difference. My wife just the other day finally said she gets it and it is really super helpful to have all the automation we do (she's not a techie and let me get a robust c4 system out of love lol). 

I just want to add this. There is no difference between the EA-1 and EA-3 in terms of processing power. People have posted the internal specs before. The difference is the additional audio streams and more IO. 
If you are on the fence try an EA-1. A lot on this forum try to push people out the gate to an EA-3 or EA-5. It’s overkill for just starting out. I have a decent sized system that runs perfectly fine on a single EA-1; Honeywell alarm, 3 garage doors, IO extender, 4 video zones (Samsung TV serial and IP drivers, Roku’s, Dish hopper/Joey, denon receivers, Apple TV, Sony blu ray), 8 zones of audio with a Russound matrix amp, sonos connect for streaming music, around 20 Lutron devices, kwikset door lock, 4 sr-250 remotes and a couple of IP cameras. 

If your TV, and all other local devices, are controllable via IP you don't need controllers by your TV, at least if you don't care about OSD.  I have some remotes that are in rooms that only have audio, not video.

I have one micro setup. But... I don’t use Amazon so I can’t compare. However, in my opinion, it’s as tight of an “on-net” integration you can have between a voice assistant and C4. To me it’s only real drawback is it’s price, and compared to Google, it’s Natural Language Processing (albeit always improving), seems a little less to be desired. But to be able to trigger any C4 programming, not just lights, is a huge plus. For example... I can Tell Josh to “call / Broadcast / Intercom, etc” one of the kids rooms and it triggers programming that Initiates the living room T3 to intercom the their room and mute the living room and the kids Bedroom TV if they are on. Then when the call is over, the programming unmutes the TVs. Obviously the heavy lifting is done by C4, but I couldn’t get that level of integration with Google. Maybe you can with the Alexa Driver.

Lastly... what drove me to Josh.AI was the fact that I was tired of the consumer offerings integrating and working well, and then because of some change with the API, the solution no longer works with Control4. That gets old pretty fast.

All you need is an RTSP decoder with an HDMI out. Plenty available everywhere.  Now how to configure that decoder will be dependent on the hardware.
I personally use a Videostorm system at home and some clients.  This is built in natively where the cameras are just sources in the matrix.  But, I can do PiP popups and keep watching what was on the tube.  PiP shows for 60 seconds then goes away.

The garbage disposal is the only switch in our house that isn’t automated. My wife wouldn’t go for it - proving once again to be the voice of reason when I get carried away with tech. Anyway I installed a specific garbage disposal switch which looks identical to our decora smart dimmers/switches but is a mechanical switch with an internal spring so requires you to hold the switch to run the disposal when you let go it turns off. Works well and looks nice. Not sure if C4 offers this but wanted to mention these sort of switches as another option. 

The text to speech will also read out the current weather and forecast, It also reminds the entire house in every room with speakers (loudly) when its garbage night, including a picture of a garbage pale on every touch panel. Of course every single person ignores this message and I have to take out the garbage anyway
 

I created one for my house keeper and when she enters her code, It greets her by name, every light in the house turns on and I play her energetic house cleaning music
 

All quiet... but if anything is going to be announced it should be this week... I would love a Neeo 2, a T4 and some nice software updates...
