upthread it was said to be in beta and had some issues.  I am no expert.  maybe C4 has it in beta too.

This thread is almost making me sign up for Apple Music to see what all the hype is about, c4 integration or not...

If you have an iphone, it's just so easy to use and integrates nicely with car play (of course). On top of that, if you have the Apple One plans, you can share music, game store, apple tv+ etc across the family for $20.

The library is one of the largest, and don't forget it includes the Clasiical App and HQ music streaming.

We have 2 cars, one from 2012 and one from 2016, neither with CarPlay. Though I’ve rented cars with CarPlay and SiriusXM and Pandora work too with CarPlay.

We do not have Apple One, my wife and I each just pay $3 or something a month for iCloud storage and we do on/off with Apple TV subscription based on our watching habits.  Though I could see for a family with a few members that could be enticing.

I get $20/month off Sirius with Amex Platinum so im paying pennies for 2 cars + online streaming and Pandora is maybe $55 or $60 a year versus $20+/month so  over $240 a year for Apple One.

HQ streaming to me isn’t worth a premium.  I have one room with a very nice set up, the rest is in ceiling speakers or working in my office listening to some bookshelf Klipsch speakers.  And i rarely listen to music in my nicer set up room as its the living room, so its mostly TV viewing. HQ, High Res, etc, its background music so really not a differentiator.  Half my TV’s still aren’t 4k because I mostly watch cable TV and almost nothing is in 4k - I am a very old curmudgeon for someone in their early 40s!

And you're far from alone.

Yes, the number of apple iphones vs android phones among our clients far outbalances the market shares they have.

The number of our clients that have Spotify vs Apple Music is more out of balance by far: I'd say 60% Spotify 5% Apple Music and the rest is mostly SXM with some Tidal and Deezer mixed in. There is sme overlap as well of course.

 I started a trial a week ago.

Tunemymusic found far less music during the switch from Spotify than to Deezer or tidal.

I actually found Spotify performs much better even on a MAC studio 2 (although, no lossless).

I suspect I'll be cancelling when the trial is over honestly.

You are authorized to speak as to what is under beta at C4?

I have a Mac Pro, iPad Pro and an iPhone, so I am 100% in the iOS ecosystem.  Just never used Apple Music really - Pandora for 10+ years, SiriusXM for 10+ years and Amazon because it comes with Prime and then I have over 1 TB of live FLAC of various concerts over the last 40+ years.

So I am curious what all the fuss is about for Apple Music.  And for what its worth, I used to work in the music industry, I am a really bad musician, and I listen to music almost all day in my house, so its not a c

Sure.  lol

I use both Apple Music and (free) Pandora with C4. As some others have stated the Apple Music integration with CarPlay just makes it easy, and then the family plan basically costs nothing. So my wife, kid and I all get unlimited music for less than $20. With that said when it comes to C4 I find myself using my free Pandora account. Just super easy to hit pandora icon and select a genre like Todays hits.

Android auto and Spotify family and you got the same thing... Or Spotify integrates into Carplay exactly the same as apple music...

Pretty much..

That being said, I don't stand up for Apple often, but, I do respect that Apple pays artists a lot more than other platforms

We use Apple Music because it it’s bundled with the Apple One Family Plan. My family would probably rather use Spotify but I refuse to pay for duplicate subscriptions.

The one feature Apple Music has, that most other services do not, is iCloud Music Library. It allows me to upload my entire collection of rare/live music to the cloud and access it like any other song through the Apple Music app. (I losslessly converted all of my FLAC files to Apple Lossless ALAC and it’s available through Apple’s cloud at full original quality.) That’s much easier than maintaining local servers/libraries and transferring files to mobile devices.

I think the real killer feature of Apple Music is that everything “just works” within the Apple hardware/CarPlay/Siri ecosystem. Apple users want that same simplicity to extend into the other systems they use.

Although our home is Appled, the college kid is our hold out....  he pays $5 a month because he prefers Spotify. Just because he feels likes the front-end experience and results (searching music) over Apple.

If it wasn't for Apple One, I'd probably consider looking at Spotify too.

Realistically there's not definitive answer to the best streamer.

Like most things in technology, there are two to three really good choices then everyone else

yeah kinda like how you have iOS, Palm OS and Windows Mobile as a top 3, then "everyone else" like Android...

Those numbers fluctuate a lot though. In some Spotify Amazon and Pandora pay half of what apple does, in others, they are the same or nearly so. Tidal, Qobuz and some of the other smaller ones pay more in most measurements, and in some lists Napster (Rhapsody) leads the charge.

Of course Apple and Spotify are likely to have your track listened to numerous more times, so it's also debatable if 'per track' revenue is all that important.

One person on Napster listening to your latest album nets you a dollar or two....but there's only one person listening. On Spotify you'd get a quarter for the album listen per person, but a million people do it so..... which do you prefer?

It’s incontrovertible though that Apple is a leading platform that isn’t going away and C4 should prioritize full integration

That it's a leading platform and not going away any time soon sure, no one would deny that.

C4 prioritizing it is subjective however.
