ekohn00 got a reaction from ejn1 in pentiar intellitouch
The intellitouch was a bitch to wire, to many protocol adapters an expensive device to connect the controller to C4, but the IntelliCenter has wifi directed from the box - much easier if you ask me, especially if you never ran cables from the controller for network connectivity.
I don't have a very large system, but I do like the Home App vs the ScreenLogic App. It seems more intuitive for simple tasks like turning on the pool lights and changing their colors.

It's the environment. It works much much better at flipping around between apps as well as visual appeal. If all your doing is going between a bunch of apps or playing music, this is just more responsive and appealing.
For specs...I got the shield. Definitely for those atoms HD movies via Plex.

personally if you're going to do it yourself and manage it yourself because you have the knowledge, I felt the unifi was the best bang for the $$.

Probably wouldn't be a problem with the unifis you meantion. And in your case, just give the garage its own SSID so those devices only connect to that AP. Just make sure in the management app the SSIDs are showing up per AP correctly.

if it doesn't, check for interference and make sure you have the latest SW.

My point was simply, it doesn't work that way. even if not used, an equalizer will add noise. they are not pass-through devices.

+1 It's worth checking out the DTI driver. easily works in a docker container too.

Liking the idea of a POE stick computer. Pop it in any POE port. Fedex it to a client. Tailscale it.

@PaulAV9 don’t hate c4….. you actually have one of the most confusing things going.

with Bluesound node and Roon there are 2 ways to play Roon.

    1. Bluesound way. (I think you’re doing it). As you know Bluesound has c4 drivers.  And mini drivers.  The mini driver selects the stream (xm, tidal, Spotify, Roon, etc).  If you select Roon either from the Bluesound main driver or mini, I believe you need to use either Roon itself or go into the Bluesound app to select Roon music.

2 the C4 Roon way. This uses the  loudoun as an endpoint and just talks to the Roon server to select music.  Roon app is not needed at all
hopefully this helps your dealer on how to set it up.

    ekohn00 got a reaction from PaulAV9 in Roon w Control4 - New driver - A few questions
Lets take this one at a time:
Roon Core - doesn't have to be a dedicated computer, I use a mac mini along with Plex and other apps as my Core. From what I have read, a NAS will probably not be a good core due to CPU strength.
Zone 1 - sounds like a no brainer, the core will stream direct to the StormAudio via ethernet.
Zone 2 - Roon tested basically means an airplay stream to the Denon. I didn't like the way airstream sounds you can eventually change this by adding something like a PI with DAC. (hifiberry.com)
Zone 3 - Im not familiar with Sonos Connect, but this sounds again like an Airplay to the Denon AVT by default. For my outside, I defiantly went PI/DAC for best performance.

FWIW, when i was "testing" roon, we used the Airplay connection before deploying PI/DAC for better sound. You may have better results, in my case i was using Airplay to my control4 EA5 which then streamed it to the EA1s or Matrix Amp. I have to think this is the worst case. Since you're going to a Denon, you might have much better results. I also went Core -> Headphone Jack -> EA5 input -> stream, and didn't like the results compared to PI/DAC.  If you start with Airplay, it's easy to make changes to test results.

Roon Drivers - Yes there are 2 that are installed. The Core (only one) and Zones. First a note - you don't need a Roonlab's Nucleus for Control4 anymore.
I assume the core driver is the connection to your Roon Core and provides the menu selection in Control4. The Zone helps set up everything for playing.
On a control4 remote listen->roon and all devices should turn on and play roon. If doing this on a display or iPhone, you get the roon menu that allows you to search and play from your library.
You can also use the Roon app to select and play for any zone. Obviously use C4 to turn the zone onto Roon first.
Good example..in my home office, i've selected Roon, didn't turn it off, and whenever i want music - i just go to my Roon app.  Or i really can use the Control4 app on my computer to select the music via roon driver.

Don't hesitate to ask, i had  a hard time finding initial info - so glad to help now that i kinda get it.......

I don't think you need HE to favorite anything.
Very easy from either a touch panel or ipad. Long press allows favorite to room screen.

That's it. Glad you found it, I totally forgot the drivers are on git now.
the driver labeled core is the server and the other goes in every room you stream to. (only 1 blusound usually means only 1 driver). I was also thinking of adding another bluesound (would be the third) or pi to get coax/fiber connection to my processor - right now i just go room to Heos which does provide hi-res, and could recommend how to if you had a Heos reciever in the house too.
How do you like that Anthem? I almost went with 90 8k and was excited they talked about Roon integration - which never happened but ended up with the AV10 now that it added Dirac.
Once the C4 roon is set, you can also favorite music too.
    Good luck.

I also use Roon and there are a few ways to have it work. I use the bluesound node too. If you search this board, I had written up the connection scenarios for Roon when my memory was clear.
The first thing you want to do is have your installer use the Roon drivers. This will allow you to control the music selection through Control4. There are 2 drivers, one for the server and one for every room you will stream to.
Without it you'd probably be selecting the node as your device, then selecting ROON for the node playback (actually think the blusound will autoselect roon when playing roon), then going to the Roon app to select the music. The control4 driver also works with the roon app, so if you're like me, you might go to the control4 display and select roon but later control future music selections from the roon app.
    Hope that helps for now.
PS....you can contol voume from contol4.
PSS..make sure the blusound is set up correctly first, if something like siriusXM or Airplay from the bluesound isn't working, don't expect Roon to.

Any idea how does this compare to the Varietas Driver?
I've been running Varietas since 2018 and not sure i've seen anything else that provides much more or worth looking at a change.

I've never been happy with SiriusXM through C4.
I use the bluesound node and not only is the sound better, I'm having no problems with Sirius and get all the extended channels.

Hell No, the M series laptops are the best laptops I’ve ever owned. I’ve owned an MBP m1 and m2. It’s the best battery life of any laptop. From a developer perspective they blow away a windows laptop.

I run compose on parallels with my m2 without issue.

The black is such a cool color for the macbook!

Docker on a Synology NAS working nicely. Just do the simple install for homebridge for docker.
Turned out DTI had to update their driver for older C4 Light Switchs...yeh mine are that old..... within 24 hours they had me a new driver and I'm up and running. Their solution seems to be a LOT faster than i expected as far as response time.
