chopedogg88 reacted to eggzlot in Composer HE
that is rather shocking. HE is just Composer Pro "Lite" if you will. So if he said HE is a dumpster fire, Pro would be a dumpster fire with more gasoline poured on top
His logic, to me, makes zero sense. And I think he can lose his dealership if he gives you Pro and is caught
For you, its a win since you can do anything you want.
Word of caution, for Pro or HE, before you make any changes, make a backup of the project, then program away and save again. this way if you mess up, you have an older state to revert/reload.

chopedogg88 got a reaction from BY96 in Novice advice
Yeah sounds like maybe your local dealer is trying to sell you a bunch of stuff you don't need, in order to "make it worth their while". If your controller is from 2019 it's probably an EA series controller which is fine.
I'd be happy to help you out (remotely) as I've done for many others on this forum. At a minimum I can take a look at your system (I'm a Control4 dealer as well), to give you a 2nd opinion/consultation.
I can upgrade you to the latest OS, help you with remotes, etc.
Thanks
Ari

chopedogg88 reacted to Thirs in Remote Programming Services Offered
I'm a repeat customer of Ari. He was able to rework my C4 project room mappings for future integrations and he's easy to talk with that gives me confidence on future home AV projects. What makes an impression on me is that Ari is more than willing to identify tough issues while being patient enough to answer questions and explain the details (I'm the inquisitive type). His in depth troubleshooting and broad knowledge is very impressive and he's willing to share that. He didn't hesitate to help troubleshoot some problems that I couldn't resolve myself, and another that he was able to quickly work out while I was his onsite eyes and ears. Being able to do all that remotely is unique. He's fast to respond, great communication and on point! Thank you so much Ari!

chopedogg88 got a reaction from tmj4 in Control4 video distribution
+1 on AVPro edge, that's what I was going to recommend as well. You will not have loss in video quality as long as you have the proper wiring in place (Cat6 or better preferably), and are within the distance specs.
PM me if interested, I'm a direct dealer with AVPro edge and can get you pricing if you'd like. I also have access to their "B stock" units which can be had for a nice discount, and come with the same 10-year warranty as A stock.

chopedogg88 got a reaction from Dueport in FS: Yale Control4 Zigbee Modules (works with Assure, Assure 2)
These have been backordered for a while so I purchased several to have stock when needed. Let me know if you need one.
They are $189 each

chopedogg88 got a reaction from Mss14 in Replacing Audio Matrix Switch
You can wait till it dies (those amps are known to have problems...), or upgrade it to the new Triad PAMP8-125-v2

chopedogg88 got a reaction from Mss14 in Replacing Audio Matrix Switch
That switch is very old. I would recommend replacing/upgrading to a Triad AMS16. It has better audio quality and digital optical and digital coax inputs (along with analog), which helps when connecting modern components which often don't have analog audio outputs.

I use the Triad matrix in all of my systems and they work great. I wouldn't take one guys comment that they suck as gospel.

chopedogg88 got a reaction from BY96 in Samsung Frame - Artmode instead of full power off
There is an option in the driver to choose what you want it to do when you power off. Select Art Mode or Art Mode without App option.

chopedogg88 got a reaction from Time2Jet in Best Locks for C4
The kwikser deadbolts work directly with control4 as long as you have a control4 zigbee card in them... Or a zwave card in them (if you have a core 5 or core 3 controller)

People want convenience and imo any media storage/server except for Kaleidescape is a pain in the rear for the vast majority of people
Along with ease of use with Kaleidescape comes vastly superior audio(better picture as well) compared to what streaming offers so anyone that wants “easy” and owns a higher quality a/v or theater system will appreciate K
Kaleidescape isn’t going anywhere

chopedogg88 reacted to alanchow in zappiti
Over the past few years we have noticed decline in all media player sales EXCEPT for Kaleidescape.
We have noticed increases in our Android TV driver sale.
As such i would assume that the reasoning behind this is that the market is trending towards streaming servers rather than storage.
As such our energy will shift towards market demand.
Even myself at home. I built the Kodi driver for myself but tend to just watch netflix, disney+, prime, etc due to convenience.

no idea, never heard of it. recommend Kaleidescape if you want a company that has been and will be around for awhile, and works well with Control4.

chopedogg88 reacted to RAV in Araknis setup too complicated for my needs?
This is a Control4 orientated forum, where it so happens a lot of Control4 dealers do use Araknis.
Araknis is used by a lot of dealers because it's not consumer level, nor is it as complicated as enterprise, and has dealer tech support and cloud features.
A 2gig forum will be able to better answer your questions about the system and it's networking requirements.

why would you need Yale app connectivity when not in bluetooth range? wouldn't you just use the Control4 app?
