C4 User got a reaction from Neo1738 in New Yale Lock Compatability
On this forum, it is rarely about need.

C4 User reacted to Cyknight in Modern Forms Ceiling Fan
Meaning that yes any keypad would do in a way as you don't need line voltage control anymore. But watch code on having a fan hardwired with no on/off power control.
You could also basically just keep the fan controller (but you're stuck with 5 buttons), remove the 'hard' button connections, put in a bit of programming to keep that fan at 100% at all times and program the buttons to control the new wifi fan speed settings.

I must say I like the idea of multiple instances where you can choose which variables to display in a given instance…

This is literally why we made the email+ agent. It’s designed to simplify email and push notifications.

Another option is to insert variables into the email (eg a string with the name of the window). I do this a lot.

Thanks SAC4 user -- I have the Room Control driver installed but haven't played with it yet. I guess it's time to check it out!

C4 User got a reaction from msgreenf in WattBox WB-UPS-1100-8 Power cycling
I had the same issue with two 2016 vintage units. I replaced both with new units and initially had the same issue. Eventually I went into the UPS settings and changed the voltage range from NORMAL to GENERATOR. Note, I am on a highly reliable power grid with very little voltage fluctuation and very few power losses. But still, GENERATOR range under the Voltage Range Setting fixed the issue. I believe these setting came out in a more recent firmware update which has caused this issue. I did not install my old UPS’s to test the above theory but would love to know what you find.

I read it as being written by SNAP ONE’s counsel, nothing more, nothing less. And i don’t blame Snap One. In time, we will all know if this latest driver is a good solution. For me, I just wish it was available on DC. Ultimately, if not DC, I wish SnapOne would take over the driver store for C4. Just my HO - so don't shoot!

C4 User reacted to South Africa C4 user in Replacing our awful control4 lighting system
Something must be wrong with your (and your neighbours) setup. Control4 lighting is very reliable. I have used it in 3 houses over 15 years with almost no issues and I live in South Africa and have power outages every day. I flip between mains and solar daily and have the generator run at least once every 2 weeks. Still the lighting is perfect. I lost one keypad due to a lightning strike but that is it (from memory) in 15 years.
Are you using centralised lighting or Zigbee? I wonder if you could have Zigbee conflicts if there are lots of different C4 systems in close proximity? Maybe try changing your Zigbee channel (if relevant).

I wish you had turned to this forum years ago, and long before you grew so frustrated. I am a long time user of C4, not a dealer, but I can say that I have not experienced any ongoing issue with my systems (multiple houses going back to 2008) and I have lighting, sound, camera’s, AV, security, blinds, etc. I would suggest you give one of the dealers on this forum a chance to address your issues before spending the funds to remove or replace it.

Yes, that should be fine, I've done it before. You just have to make sure to bind the connections for the Hue lights to the right Hue Hub

My bad. I meant to say it would be awesome to be able to do this via programming.

C4 User reacted to South Africa C4 user in C4 Connect and Assist - new CIaaS offering
I must say that as a (relatively) educated end user with 2 homes (both massive systems), I fully understand this viewpoint. My dealer has taken a couple of emergency calls at 9pm on a Friday evening. The reality is that in these sorts of emergencies, even my dealer has been able to do very little BUT due to the relationship, he has been able to calm me down and assure me that we would get it all sorted out. I suspect that the telephonic support I would get from someone with no clue about my system would just irritate me in that sort of situation…
I should also say that my dealer has always been extremely gracious in these situations and his wife has (as far I can tell 🙈) been very understanding when he has spent an hour on the phone to me…
That said, my dealer does not currently charge me for these sorts of calls but makes his money on my regular additions and changes to the systems.

Hopefully the additional cost will help to cover licensing fees that Control4 may need to pay for things like future Apple Music/Spotify/etc integration!

the favorites are just a toggle. You could create lighting scenes and favorite those.

C4 User reacted to South Africa C4 user in Re-Enabling zigbee
loads of laughs - I know many people will prefer this… but I like(d) the big red 4… I always told people to use this to get started… I have now put a “watch” button on the lighting keypad at my cinema door and tell them to press this and then follow the menus…

C4 User reacted to RyanE in Re-Enabling zigbee
If you are using a Home Theater Controller (HTC) in the year of our Lord 2024, you deserve whatever you get.
May I suggest the easiest way to re-activate your Zigbee would be to buy a newer controller.

OMG, backups on 3.4.1 are insanely fast, at least on CA-10. My prior testing of backup times was 2 mins an 2 seconds on Core 5, 1:39 on CA-10. Now CA-10 is 26 seconds.

C4 User got a reaction from Neo1738 in C4 EA5 controller upgrade to Core 5
It’s only been a week, but so far I have to say that I now regret not upgrading to the CA-10 and Core5 when they first came out. Touchscreens, iPhone and iPad apps, cameras, commands are all almost instant. Being a long time user, I think the move from the HC1000 to the HC800 to the EA5 blinded my expectations because each move was a noticeable improvement. But now I’m getting instant reactions. Love it!
