Ring has Halloween chimes. Don't know if it this is new this year or not. But I turned up the volume on the chime to the max and put a spooky sound on the motion alert and then another on the doorbell press. UPS guy loved it. First Halloween in this neighborhood so we're hoping the neighborhood grandkids will visit and trick or treat out here in the boonies.

I should have done this simple bit of automation years ago... it has given my family great satisfaction. Previously all (5) of my T3s had photos as screensavers (except for the main bedroom which blanked out when the lights were out and the blinds closed) and the spa area T3 (which had no screen saver if we were monitoring a camera - if we are using the jacuzzi and sauna but expected someone to arrive we press a button to display the front door camera or the front gate camera on the T3).
I upgraded my screensaver logic to continue as above but when music is playing in the relevant zone, instead of photos (if the screensaver is allowing photos - ie not blank or off) it shows the album artwork, time, date and temperature.  A simple change which is creating a lot of happiness...
The most complex part of the change was bringing all of the old logic (main bedroom and spa area) into one area (Macro).  Once this was done, it took minutes to make the change and, is easy to edit in future.

Nice. I actually buy twice as many spoons as all other utensils for this reason. Once a year I also polish all the bite marks off and put them back in rotation.
I have those super quiet disposals that can disappear a whole chicken. We've tried the SilverSaver Sink Stopper's and they work pretty good.

As soon as you guys send a link to the switch that won't work when there is a fork or spoon in the damn garbage disposal, then I'll be impressed.

I installed a Serena shade in the master bathroom over the tub (would've been very hard to reach). Added two more to the master bedroom, also. Added some voice commands, Sunshine and Privacy to open/close. Scheduled the blinds to close at bedtime. Setting up the two that face the morning sun to open incrementally as the sunrises. Added some voice commands that simplifies everything for her. Not that exciting, but "happy wife" applies here, for sure.

I wanted to give my positive feedback and thanks to @chopedogg88 for all his help with my recent upgrade on my HC250 based setup.
Like many of you, I inherited my system (mine was thru marriage).  It was installed in 2013 at version 2.5.0, and hadn't had a thing done to it since.   As times and equipment changed, my wife just learned to live with the issues and limitations.    I decided it would be nice to get those issues resolved, but did not want to get goosed by the local installer having to charge their normal rates (plus travel, etc.)
I saw some remote integrators advertising on eBay and thought that was an interesting option.  A google search turned up this forum, and Ari's glowing feedback made me reach out.   I signed up to c4forums for the sole purpose of contacting Ari and getting started on our project.
Ari was patient and explained in detail what I needed and how best to go about things.   My HC250 is now on 2.10.6 and my laundry list of issues were addressed!   Emails were returned quickly and the work was done above and beyond what I was looking for.   Value for the money was excellent.   My wife gave it a big 👍.
I look forward to using Ari in the future for all our Control4 needs!

From Lutron... "NATURAL LIGHT OPTIMIZATION: Enable your blinds to automatically adjust the amount of tilt based on the position of the sun for maximum comfort throughout the day."
I told them I wanted this for my roller shades and the non-committal response was that "it's coming."

The class doesn't make you a dealer.  The class makes you an installer.
To become a dealer is an entirely different exercise that you go through with your Regional Sales Manager or his reports, who determine if you are qualified business-wise as well as technically to be a Control4 dealer, and these days, it involves having an actual showroom, and purchasing minimum amounts to start, and yearly thereafter.

Some great suggestions on here so far! Here are a few of mine.
Apple Music - This might be an Apple limitation, but they do allow Sonos to do this. I can only assume there's some Apple problem here though, because I can't imagine Control4 would leave this out for any other reason.
    Airplay 2.
Open/documented REST API (good one, control4user007!)
When/Then to the level of HE, or better.
Homekit/Siri integration - This is not an Apple limitation, but to get Siri working they effectively end up supporting all of Homekit (i.e. you'd be able to control C4 devices via the Home app, etc). I can only assume they don't want to do that. I am using a 3rd party homebridge driver now, and it's not perfect but it does work well. So hopefully Control4 decides to do this natively.
Apple TV and native Mac Control4 app (i.e. Apple TV and Mac versions of the iOS app)

Elvis reacted to RAV in Should I ditch C4?
The topic is ditching a Control System....
No control system can do better than the parts it is asked to integrate with.
And when companies change their minds about integration abilities later, it's a huge issue.
It's easy to point fingers, and there's lots of places to point to: The Network, The Integrator, Control4, when many times it's the 3rd Party and their API and software and changes.
Want a successful control system, go native, use as much from the control system company as possible.
Going all apps, you eliminate two fingers to point, and add one pointing at yourself. Now it's on you to keep them up to date, maintain your network, deal with changes and software. Some find that rewarding, "I did it myself". Others would rather not and pay some to do it for them. Could be an oil change, lawn care, painting, whatever category of DIY vs DI4ME, to each their own.
There's still frustration with DIY, but the expectation has changed, and it's your time to waste as oppose to your money to waste to pay for someone else's time.
That's who you are, not who the Control System is.

I ended up buying 3 more of these from @DawnGordon and still super happy.
We did find two great local dealers. So that allowed us to price shop and see other options. And Dawn is right, when you actually compare apples to apples (same fabric, same valance) the prices are very comparable. And even when the dealer is super helpful, you have to actually see the price written down to get the real number. I mean they are selling, so it I get it -- but what's said on the showroom floor usually doesn't equal what is written down when it comes down to placing an order. "Oh, you want THAT fabric" and "Oh, you want it motorized, that's right..." and next thing you know you are very close to the same price. For me, since my system is running on Lutron, it was an easy decision.
We bought the remaining blinds from The Blind Place in Tyler. And there is definitely value added when they show up and install them... a LOT of them.
Of the motorized shades we saw, the Serena were still noticeably quieter.

I did not "ditch" it, but almost. I use Lutron for lights and shades, Ecobee thermostats, Airplay2/Sonos for sound, and HomeKit to integrate it all. C4 is pretty much an expensive TV remote. I do use it for some automation (motion sensors).
It was an easy decision for me. I watched my family use our tech, based on C4, for 4 years. The only C4 equipment they used was the SR-260 remote (and the HC-250, later an EA-3 of course driving it). Perhaps it was just happenstance that I bought receivers that embraced Spotify and Airplay, but my family never used C4 audio. They airplay'ed right out of the music app. They "spotified" right out of the Spotify app -- and got instance gratification. Whereas "shairbridge" and C4 was a complete bust along with the C4 app. It looked cool, having all those Airplay targets but it was too delayed, or too glitchy, or it just didn't work. The whole time Airplay, Spotify Connect, and other network based sources worked great if you took C4 out of the mix.
They still like to hit the red button and oooh and ahhh over the OSD occasionally. But with the crazy number of channels, even the 260 (and NEEO) are often on the sidelines. They'll grab a voice remote instead.

I don't agree with your asessment.  You are not relying on C4 to always work or Wifi.  The module also has an RF remote...no different then most fans and relying on an RF remote.

And also all i did was not wire the fans differently i just wired them hot at the wall and put a blank over it

You can also wire these controllers remotely to the fan. They don't actually have to be mounted above the fan. In the case of an outdoor fan you could mount them inside or in another enclosure.
Yes, outdoors you want the breeze for sure. Big blades and dropped from the ceiling. I have some cheap hunter outdoor fans that move a lot of air. I like them because their blades haven't drooped in the humidity even after years. I hate to admit it, but I think I leave them on 24/7. Keeps the bugs away.

Yep, I picked the wrong fan for the job (outdoor porch, high ceiling) before moving from Kerrville. Then I listened to my electrician and made the same mistake again. He did me right on the lighting and boat lifts, but I should've trusted my own experience. It doesn't matter how well integrated the fan is, or how nice it looks, if it doesn't perform.
These two fans would be great inside for the reasons you mention.

I have thermostats in my system and haven't had any issues, so it could be specific to your thermostat model rather than universal. If you send me the homebridge crash logs, I can take a look and see if it's easily fixable.
As for Control4 scenes.... there isn't a way to "link" Control4 scenes to HomeKit scenes.  But you can use a "virtual switch" and C4 programming to tie a switch in HomeKit to C4 scene state and use HomeKit scenes to react to the C4 scene and do whatever you like.  Or use actions from inside HomeKit to trigger C4 scenes by turning on the switch in HomeKit.  There's lots of possibilities here.

No fan modification. Just replace the current controller or add this one. I have these and they are cool, but there are some minor annoying aspects that you may or may not find annoying. The wifi flipper/dongle/paddle/eyesore needs to be placed outside of the fan housing where the fan meets the ceiling. Don't use the instructions in the silly video. They show sticking it to the ceiling way outside of the fan housing for the junction box. I mean you can do that, but that sure looks terrible. The dongle is meant to snuggle up under the edge of the housing with only half of it sticking out. They include a couple of thick spacer bushings you are meant to install between the junction box/ceiling and the fan craddle to make space for the dongle between the ceiling and the trim of the fan. So the annoying part of this design is that there will be some form of a gap between the ceiling and the fan trim ring. You can get creative and modify your fan trim and not use the bushings etc OR you can play with wifi without the flipper exposed.
If you do not use the hub with the fan controller you are using the cloud to control the fan with the app or you are using the remote. I believe the cloud and app don't really have a restriction on number of devices.
The app isn't terrible, but it's not the greatest. They could improve on the widgets.
I do not think you can connect a controller to more than one fan.

I think they are worth the $60 bucks and 5 minutes it takes to install. You also get some opportunities to control them using API's.

I don’t disagree in general with these points. But I think this is still being very charitable to C4. The Neeo was released with less functionality than an SR-260. A lot less. And it has some significant hardware flaws. It’d be one thing if it was priced accordingly. But it’s not. These are premium products. I think it’s reasonable to expect fully-baked. After all, that’s why people generally buy C4 as opposed to a consumer-grade system.
