DanITman got a reaction from c44me in Sun Position Driver - Beta Testers Needed
I wrote a sun positioning driver that I need help testing.
Driver allows you to trigger events in Control4 based on the suns location.  This is great for shades and allows you to mimic control like Lutron's Natural Light Optimization. Driver calculates the sun position based on your project location and timezone.  This driver does not require an outside API and all calculations are done on the driver itself.
Below are the variables that you can use for conditionals.  Driver fires an event on every calculation of the sun position.

Sun Interval: How often the sun position should be calculated.
Azimuth: Direction of the sun as compass coordinates.
Altitude: Angle of the sun in degrees.  (Positive - Sun is above horizon | Negative - Sun is below horizon)
Season: Current Season based on Location
Trending: If the Sun is going UP or DOWN
Last Event: Day, Night, Civil Twilight, Nautical Twilight, Astronomical Twilight, Solar Noon, Solar Midnight
If interested in testing, please DM me your email and I'll send you a beta trial.
    Thanks

You can buy this version and just swap out the card to a control4 one. It works fine. I have cards for sale if you need one.

Those Smart Wifi controllers from Home Depot work awesome with the bond driver. However, you can't seem to get them anymore.  You have to search ebay.

DanITman reacted to Control4Savant in Replacing Araknis hardware with Ubiquiti
Ubiquiti has enterprise networking capabilities pretty much across the board… at a price noticeably better than most.
Eero is consumer grade networking equipment with an intuitive and setup friendly app and mostly plug and play components. It will have some limitations from an advanced network perspective and can be problematic with certain advanced C4 features but in most cases  it works just fine.
Araknis is an AV networking brand. They fall in the middle providing more pro/enterprise style gear with simple UIs, performance stats and features. Their newer equipment finally has some more powerful hardware and basic things like firewall rules we expect on expensive routers. Ovrc management and Snap service is definitely its biggest strength.

    A USW-Pro-24-POE (400W) is 1/3rd the cost of a Araknis 310 Series 24port. It’s L3 and has 25 more watts.

The NVR on the dream machine is great.  The whole Unifi protect experience is way better then the Chinese NVRs.  The DC driver allows you to integrate the smart detections (people, cars).  You can limit your notifications based on when you are home or away.  Its really turning out to be a great system and improvements and features continue to be released  monthly.
I'm not sure on the need for 10G.  The only real application I've seen for 10G in residential is the new SDVOE devices.  MXNET 10G requires 10G networks to work.  I only have 10G as a backbone between my switches as Unifi made that easy with 10G SFP+ ports.  I know I'm not even coming close to reaching the 1G limits.

Its the reason I don't care about back lit buttons.  In the beginning it matters but you should have them pretty well memorized after a few uses.

DanITman got a reaction from DLite in Can C4 leverage camera face detection signals?
Almost all camera systems are going to have the same functionality inside Control4.  Control4 proxies only support limited functionality.  You will not be able to view / scrub a timeline of the NVR.  You will only be able to view live camera view and have PTZ functionality.  Some camera drivers do support triggering on smart detection if both the camera and the driver support it.
I would focus more on which system you like better outside of Control4.  I've found that Unifi protect offers the best experience without having to pay annual fees. It also integrates very well with Control4.  The driver is not free but is worth it.
I would have you stay away from Luma.  The mobile experience is not very friendly and the cost is on the high end.

Do any of the security panel integrations support adding users?  I would LOVE if I could add a new users to my locks and simultaneously add them to the security system.  I'm not sure if anyone has implemented that yet.  You could do it through the lock proxy.

Yes, you can add it along side your existing setup.  You won't be able to join zones and play the same music in-sync between native and sonos.  All of my zones are sonos and I like the flexibility and integration with C4.  Anyone in the family can start music the way they want (Airplay2, Alexa, Josh.ai, Spotify) and C4 shows the meta data and offers transport controls.  My recent add of Josh.ai system allows me to cast the voice back through my in-ceiling speakers as well.

    Unifi protect is just awesome.
We’ve installed and deployed well over 300 systems.  Never looked back.  The app is amazing, the cameras have local communications, no yearly fee for recording, local recording, etc…
it may not have the ‘support’ and we counter that by training our techs and staff.  there might be better unique or industrial requiments unifi doesn’t support and we’d use another brand. But…  in 4 years not a single grumpy customer since switching so yea
best part is customers are sending us video clips when they have something happen at their house
with our Luma jobs we basically have to remote in and help them when they need to extract the video for police etc

user experience is paramount and unifi listened to what the luxury resident space needed

DanITman got a reaction from Abdulaziz Elfeky in Halo & Unifi Fixed
I wanted to share my experience with the new Halo remote and my Unifi setup.  Initially, it wasn't a great experience and the halo remote would always lose connectivity.
I know this was a general issue with the Halo and I sort of gave up on it working well.  I read reports of firmware improvements and things getting better yet I was still having major issues on keeping it connected to wifi.
I was working on an unrelated wifi issue with Ubiquiti and they recommended that I upgrade my unifi AP firmware to an EA release version of 6.5.54.   I was on 6.5.28 (as of 5/30/23) and after upgrading to 6.5.54 on my wireless all my Halo issues went away.  Ubiquiti is expecting this release to go public and be out of EA very soon.
I currently run three of the UAP-AC-PRO.
I hope this can help anyone else that might be having issues.

I have four sonos amps for sale.  One is brand new and sealed in the box and the other three are used.  All are tested and working.
$600 for the new one and $500 a piece for the used ones.
