This is a good point.  It is unlikely that all dealers make this clear, and by "making it clear" it would have to be in some paperwork the end customer agrees to and/or signs.  Otherwise actually enforcing these policies (by removing the end users access to the driver) is legally shaky at best.
To be enforceable, there needs to be a EULA attached for the customer detailing this policy.
Otherwise, just ditch the policy and always make sure the end customer has access to the driver, which is the more customer friendly approach.  IE, if the original dealer is unresponsive proactively issue a new license.  Path of least resistance....
Yes, as a vendor the dealer ARE our customers.  However, the end customer is actually the one who is paying (via the dealer) for the driver.  Both parties need to be served.

And every time that happen on one of my devices I need to call my C4 dealer and pay them to fix the broken driver I can't access.....

The laws will never prevent you from doing your job.  I can wire my own house, that doesn't mean people don't still hire electricians to help them.  Being able to do things is not the same as wanting to or being capable of doing them.  If you are good at your job there will always be demand.
C4 could solve all of this by following the Lutron model and opening up level 1 training to customers that are so inclined to go through it (a very small percentage of customers, btw) and learn how to do basic tasks like dragging and dropping a driver and configuring bindings.

In this particular case, the certificate expired.  Most certificates expire.  This is a security feature meant to prevent a compromised certificate from lasting forever.
The thing is, everyone KNOWS WHEN the certificates will expire.  It is a planned event.  You just need to update BEFORE it happens.  Or at least promptly after when you realize your mistake.
No grey area here.  Just manufacturers being lazy, or probably just not devoting much effort to support products they already sold.

To follow up on this, we just added AQI tiles (current and forecast).  Revamped our weather forecasts to include options for hourly and daily graphs.  Finally, major update to our weather MAPS with pretty colors and lots of layer options (clouds, precip, snow, pressure contours, wind rose, etc).

You can use the "External" tiles to embed any HTML5 web page as a tile.  You can use a "text" tile with your own HTML5 code for simple stuff.  Finally, you can dynamically push HTML5 code to a tile using the API  (this is how notifications are sent to the screen, etc).
Tiles can always customize the size, color, and styles.  Some tiles have more options as well (specific to the function).  There are also completely custom tiles as mentioned above.
On Android devices, you have full remote control via our C4 SplashTiles driver.  You can use a C4 trigger to pop up a full screen or overlay camera display (several cams if you like).  SplashTiles can handle MJPEG and JPEG camera streams.  If you need rtsp, NetPlay can added (seamlessly) to do that.
The C4 app itself cannot be a functional PIP (their app doesn't support it).  Other options:
SplashTiles can display transparently over the functional C4 app SplashTiles has a C4 list navigator tile  (functionality like the SR260) that CAN be used as a functional C4 control overlay Security Spy tile?  Probably, but would need specifics.
Apple versions?  Technically fairly easy, but would require a rather large bribe since they are a pain to work with......

@videostorm, can 3rd parties develop apps for a tile or can those only be done internally?  How much customization can be done within a tile?
    - If someone came to our front door can it pop up the two cams that cover that area?
    - Could I customize a weather tile to include air quality info? How difficult to pull data in from other sources like from a TSI Assure AQM or IQAir AVP?
    - Can the C4 app be a functional PIP?
    - Create a tile for Security Spy NVR?
Plans for IOS and TVOS versions?
    Thanks,

So ADB is disabled?  If not, you could set a screen saver that way.  It wouldn't interfere with it being a single app device.  Screen saver code is built into the platform and has system properties which define the specific executable to run.
If ADB is disabled, that device may be a little TOO locked down.  Custom homes need custom screen savers on their panels IMO.  Would be a great way for dealers to be able to add special touches to the system.

We actually DID take the time to develop what is probably the worlds most configurable Screen Saver (SplashTiles).  You can do exactly what you were asking for, with lots of panel (tiles in our lingo) options to choose from.
Works on all Android devices, so it "should" work on the C4 touchscreens.  Has anyone ever tried it?  It is actually free.....   I don't have a C4 touchscreen.
    Never made an IOS version.

It is just a different voice interaction model.  Designed to be more intuitive, at least to me anyway     And you don't need the 4sight license if you don't use it otherwise.

"Alexa, set Watch to Cable" (just like the Watch button, substitute Cable for your C4 video source names) "Alexa, set Listen to Pandora" (just like the Listen button, substitute Pandora for your C4 audio source names) full examples in the docs at https://splash-tiles.com/help/alexa_c4.php

SimpleC4 is our Alexa skill.  It can also control your C4 system, but is definitely not the official C4 skill.
It does have the advantage that you don't have to pay for C4 Cloud service.  If you want to use it please see https://splash-tiles.com/help/alexa_c4.php

videostorm reacted to eggzlot in VideoStorm as a solution - any current users that can help?
what is above pretty much nails it on the head.
You need a Netplay Manager to run it - think of it as a local hub: https://www.video-storm.com/proddetail.php?prod=nvmm - the Netplay Manager runs software called Virtual Matrix Manager that is accessible via a computer browser when you go to the local IP address of the device once its plugged into your network.  that is where you add all the licenses, name the products and set up and configure the system.
For any source you want to share (streaming boxes, cable boxes, Blu Ray players, etc) you need one of these: https://www.video-storm.com/proddetail.php?prod=netplayready
Then at each TV you need a decoder - I am personally using a mix of Sony TV's with Android OS (so its just an ethernet cable into the TV for IP control of the TV and getting audio/video from the netplay system) as well as Shields with IRUSBs at older TVs without IP Control: https://www.video-storm.com/proddetail.php?prod=netplayhomedecoder
With the Sony TV - you just download the Netplay TV app from the Android store on the TV, buy the proper licenses, and Video Storm's website has instructions on how to identify the TV into the project.  Would be the same process using the Shield TV - buy a license, then ID it to your virtual matrix manager which sits in your Netplay Manager device.

MS is unveiling Win11 right now and one of the announcements is that Win11 will natively run android apps.  That gives us a way to have a C4 Navigator in Windows.

    New toy/tool for SplashTiles
    Notifications for SplashTiles   https://splash-tiles.com/help/androidnote.php
Automatically forward selected Android Phone notifications to your TV.
Just like our notifications from C4, except from your phone.  Best for texts, caller ID, or Cloud cams that don't play nice with automation.
Enjoy      And don't forget to let us know if you have suggestions.

If you’re a system designer, can we just stop selling touchscreens all together and make the app fully functional?  I’d even say start charging for a V2 version of the app that has intercom.
Design flaws, product shortages, etc just leave a bad taste in people’s mouths with the C4 screens.  Everyone has a tablet or 3 and they are sold everywhere, even with compatible wall mounts.
The high cost of the TS is a tough sell to most people.
     Thanks

I think thats the only advantage,  It's just cleaner for the end user to understand what source they are in by looking at the remote.  It makes programming a bit easier if you want to fire commands when certain devices are selected  i.e Red button when Room Media Device = Netflix etc.  This should still be possible either way, but a bit more work the other way.

It's officially a "maybe".  WebOS is similar to Tizen in many ways, so we hope to be able to target it successfully.
Tizen and WebOS will only support limited features of course as discussed earlier.
