I think that’s correct - have this driver for our Nintendo Switch and Retro Pie and works perfectly - looks nice and polished too.

I finally ripped out our AppleTV’s in favor of more Rokus. Wish I’d done it earlier. Sold the used AppleTV’s for the same price as the new (better spec) Rokus. The Roku is just way more consistent and flexible from a control perspective. They support airplay too. I really see no downside…they even have the AppleTV service.

I only read the first and last paragraphs, but if the system isn’t working it’s on your integrator. The hardware and software are great when setup properly.

They’re in stock right now and they’ll let you buy up to 4.

Unifi just has such an incredible UI. I’ve never seen anything networking platform with as informative and intuitive customer experience.

I have a DS2 Mini and thoroughly enjoy it. I’ve also had Ring in the past and don’t feel like it was any better. I do have to reboot it every few months, so I just set a process to kill power to that PoE port for 30 seconds at 2:30am on the first day of every month. Problem solved.

I also will add that I’ve he Control4 since 2006. In that time period I’ve had installations in 3 different primary homes (first and last being new builds, second being a retrofit) and 2 vacation properties (one of which I still own). I agree with most of the other comments here that are more details than my first post. I, like someone else, have never really evaluated the competition.

Control4 is awesome. I like that it integrates literally everything in my phone and is dead simple to use. A/V, shades, lights, security, pool, intercom, etc… all on one interface.

One beef you’ll hear from people is that it’s not DIY. Adding or removing devices requires a paid professional. That said, this is something that’s done pretty rarely in most situations. I wish the phone app loaded faster.

I don’t want this to happen and not advocating for it, in case anyone took it that way.

What I think that they fail to realize, is that whether they like it or not, a massive percentage of the folks that would buy these drivers are the people that want to manage and administer it themselves. Now, I realize Control4 has a dealer model and that's fine - but despite that dealer model these people still exist and leverage Control4. I feel like everyone who is publishing drivers to DriverCentral, and supporting DriverCentral in only allowing Control4 dealers to buy drivers or have an account with them, is missing out on a sizable amount of revenue. There's a number of drivers that I'd love to buy, but take the energy to develop my own solution despite it being more work because I can do it without involving someone else.

Yeah, it's a pretty terrible system.

My biggest issues are that they won't let ME buy drivers, and that my "DriverCentral" driver appears to be tied to one particular DriverCentral dealer, that I'm then forced to work with on anything I want from DriverCentral. I've got someone that has helped me with the one DriverCentral driver I have (which I was forced in to by Alan Chow leaving Houselogix and going over there) but I don't like it being dependent on any one specific person.

ntpd is a time service which keeps hardware in sync and signal 15 is a restart service request.
ntpd can restart itself if the clock drifts too far from actual time. This could indicate a hardware problem or something is triggering a service restart.

Are there any logs before the signal 15?

I have to imagine you've not actually had proper video distribution with that mindset. If you have a bunch of TV's it's incredibly nice. You have a minimal number of sources to replace/swap out when you want to upgrade, you can easily distribute the same thing to multiple TV's, you can pause in one room and pick up in another...it's really a phenomenal experience.

Ours are just on when the display is on and defaults to a white. We will typically tune the colors to be that of the team we want to win the game we’re watching. My kids will also set it a bright green for survivor, etc...

I’ve got the Rachio but haven’t bothered to integrate it with C4...don’t really see the point. The only reason I got the Rachio is I was sick of walking across the yard to the pool equipment where the sprinkler timer is located to turn it off and back on the rare occasion I needed to do so.

For landscape lighting, I haven’t completed install of that yet as our trees still aren’t planted (we landscaped in 2020). We’ll do all of our trees in a few months, at which point our guy will place the light fixtures on the line he ran and install the control box. I think it’s the FC Luminaire mentioned above, but now I’m going to go double check. I wasn’t planning to integrate it either as the landscaper said he’d just automate it with sun up and sun down, but thought if I wanted to I’d just use a C4 outlet to cut the power to the unit.

So, I’ve got “extra” remotes as the SR250’s have no value and no point in getting rid of them. In my basement theater area, on the bar between the theater and game room, I have both a NEEO and an SR250. The NEEO gets used more than the SR250, but they both get used. This is primarily the kids.

In the bedroom I have a NEEO on my nightstand and my wife has an SR250 on hers. She’d take a NEEO, but also doesn’t care so I save the $$$.

ILoveC4 got a reaction from nukenerd in What's the best C4 Camera Setup?
Blue Iris allows for tons of very cool Control4 integration. It was already mentioned, having motion detection (or a variety of other alerts you can configure, like recognizing and object or a person) can fire off MQTT alerts with C4 can receive and execute programming off of. I use my garage camera as the motion sensor to control the lights in there and it works flawlessly.

You can also create programming off you touching different parts of the cameras image while displaying it in the C4 app. On many of my cameras if I touch the top right corner of the image it turns the lights on in the areas that camera is pointed at. Touching the top left corner plays an announcement.

I have V5 and I don’t pay any annual fees - it was just a one time fee that seems like it was about $60. I think the mobile app was $20. I don’t do port forwarding but rather just view them through the C4 app when I’m out, or connect to my VPN. Setup with BlueIris is super easy.

I’d highly recommend both BlueIris and the Domaudeo Advanced BlueIris driver from BlackWire.
