The two are independent and have no impact on each other.

turls reacted to Control4Savant in Unreliable dealer
Dealer status were also recently updated. Always use the Control dealer locator to verify status. Lots of dealers keep previous years statuses on their own sites as a badge of honor and for sales which is terribly misleading to most people. I always suggest a mid level dealer. High end precious metal dealers CAN be very good and very well run but if they are a very large operation there is a lot of $ overhead that needs to be fed and I often acquire clients just based on them avoiding the “service contract”  SaaS mentality. They could also be reaping rewards of plug and play expensive c4 systems for the non tech luxury market which often leads to problems and over promises and poor support for anything out of their repeated process. “Authorized” dealers should just be receiving the line and getting used to the product, if an established dealership is only holding an authorized level they are likely not touching the product much on a daily basis and that can impact getting timely and appropriate service. Hold you dealer accountable. It is VERY easy and common for professionals to agree or promise to something they see work on paper (or on video) but never have implemented in the field.

    LOL.  I assume you're talking about Control4.
Control4 *proposed* their large network extensions to Zigbee (which are necessary for the large Zigbee networks in Control4 installations to not get bogged down with excessive messaging) to the Zigbee board, to become part of the standard.  It could have been part of the HA standard (which is only one of many Zigbee standards, most of which are not compatible with each other, due to varying security requirements, etc)...
    It was sadly not accepted.

Figured it out - for those interested:
    1) Enter Programming Mode (8, Installer Code, 0, 0)
    2) MODULES > BUS DEVICES
    3) Select the correct device by ID (you may have more than 1 if you have multiple keypads or other Bus devices such as the Control4 serial bus interface - you'll know the keypads when you enter the submenus as they have more options)
    4) STATUS BEEPS = OFF (pressing 1 and 2 turn ON or OFF)
    5) KEY BEEPS = OFF (pressing 1 and 2 turn ON or OFF)
    6) Exit Programming Mode
Note: Will not take effect until you have exited programming mode.
Now wife will not moan and groan when alarm is armed / disarmed and she is asleep...

I’ve been seeing this with my Alexa Echo for about a week. We ask her to turn on the living room tv and she immediately says living room Echo not responding but the TV and sound all turn on as normal. Shutting off the room gives the same false negative response from Alexa.

turls reacted to Cyknight in My Movies 3.1.1
    Just to point this out:
the MyMovies driver is a database driver that allows importing data from the MyMovies database (a 3rd party database).
While I have ZERO clue if/how it still works in current systems, it uses an encrypted path (and I suspect that is where the issue is).
My Movies the Control4 interface option is the native 'interface' to view and select movies. the MyMovies DRIVER populates the information in interface if you use it.
You COULD drop the driver however and use the NATIVE network folder scanning instead - I can confirm THAT works (and that Dune players will work with it) in OS3+.

Issue with native scanning is that results are less complete and less accurate. Upside is that you CAN actually go in and edit the info in Composer.

Sonos needs to work on its own using its own app. So start there. Set all of the devices to the correct device inputs and make sure you have full control over the devices from the sonos app. After that make sure those connections match in control4.  You can run sonos into control4 but then you will have trouble matching the audio up. It can be done but it is fairly advanced to get it setup. WE talk about some of these pitfalls in our Composer Home video tutorial on you tube.

It's an out-standing request by numerous companies, Sonos, Control4 etc.
But as it stands, SXM is using these 'XTRA' channels as a means to draw people to their own app.

We just launched our first mobile webview driver.  This is aimed at integrators who want to provide their contact details on a system so that the owner knows how to contact for support along with space for custom text (company description or information that they want the home owner to know).

Also no one mentioned it but there is a new "Zigbee Health" Pop up window which looks pretty great. More of a dealer centric thing.
Also it is now WAY easier to get logs on devices without being a putty master.

Not very exciting but still much appreciated.

Still waiting for better camera proxy and native RGB color wheel, my two biggest requests.

some will be very happy about the below
    THE MORE POWERFUL
    ACCESS AGENT
Whether a touch screen is installed in a child’s bedroom, sports bar, or boardroom, sometimes you want to limit access to certain individuals, or let everyone have access to just a few things. The new capabilities in the Access agent, together with the Identity and UI Configuration agents, let you define the level of access users get on individual touch screens and on-screen television interfaces.
The touch screen in the child’s bedroom limited to just Favorites
The guest bedroom television interface only controls their room
In a sports bar or board room employees can access some screens, management can access all
UI elements can be unlocked, locked, and many can even be hidden
Manually lock screens whenever you want, or screens can lock automatically

The driver is up and available for purchase on drivercentral.io now. If you have lumagen driver specific issues I am available via PM here. If you have drivercentral issues please hit them up directly. I may take a day or two to respond as I don't check this forum every day.

Just an update to everyone, the driver should be up on drivercentral in a few days. There are quite a few hoops to jump through on the signup process. If you have an urgent need you can dm me on here and we can work something out.

turls reacted to videostorm in DAKBoard
FYI our Splash-tiles.com tool is very similar to Dakboard.
Except it has some nice C4 integration built in  (and is less expensive overall).
Runs on your Android TV / Fire OS devices   (you can also run on a pi if you like) Complete cloud control is actually included in the FREE version Free C4 driver with a lot of integration features Push data / control from C4 to your displays Transparent overlays & such Authenticated Camera support with popup Full WebGl graphics applications built in Personally I like Dakboard as well.  It was in part the inspiration for SplashTiles.  SplashTiles has much more of an automation focus
Also, it works really well with a touch screen bezel (touch control is designed into our app).  I have a 45" Samsung in my office with an Aliexpress touchscreen bezel attached (~$150).  It is awesome       I even put it on a rotating wall mount so I can spin it to landscape if needed (normally it is mounted portrait).

turls reacted to mindedc1 in Custom Buttons and Scenario Experience - pros/cons?
Custom buttons are a pain in 3.x, they're a bit odd in 2.x as well. It's really the only decent way to deal with a customer that wants something like DSP modes or something.
Scenario buttons outside of the given limitations are quite nice, can turn into a pain for you and your dealer (edit/upload/repeat).
The upside and downside of C4 is that the UI is only so configurable. The upside is it's consistent and easy to program. Things always work the same way. Have you ever seen a windows program with weird and non-standard controls? Annoying? Pain to use? that's the opposite side of the coin where someone thought they know UI design better than the OS developers and you get something that could be wonderful but is more often than not annoying. The difference with C4 is it makes people angry when their houses don't work... lesser of the two evils is to make it fit a pattern, make it consistent and easy to program and support. If the dealer that built it gets hit by a truck, that customer can get good support from another dealer with minimal fuss. The downside is accounting for that uncommon 10% of things people want to do can get annoying from a UI perspective. I'll take it never being broken when I'm out of town for the inconvenience of dealing with the UI.
The one big game changer is in 3.x you can favorite Experience buttons to the room, quite nice. I recommend giving it a try. Just hold down on the button you want to favorite, should get a popup allowing you to favorite it to the room. It also works at a higher level. For example in an alcove in my foyer I have a panel and use the garage door buttons a lot as well as security panel and security cameras. I have the doors, and the panel room favorited as well as the overall icon for cameras. No watch/listen sources in that room so it's sort of an entry/exit security control center. I also have home/away/vacation buttons favorited to the room. Very nice! I believe these show on the Neo remotes as well. You have to do the favoriting on a touchpad or app, but the button will appear in the room on the Neo after that.

I want to chime in on this.
Control4 asked us to attend a meeting at ISE last year with their senior VPs.  In summary they told us (and also every other major Control4 driver developer) to stop reverse engineering APIs and to provide them with the details of the systems we reverse engineered so that they can assist us with creating a relationship with that particular company to stop the API from breaking in the future.
In short there were a few 3rd party drivers out in the wild that broke and caused Control4 alot of headaches.  Not sure if it was just customers complaining or legal issues but regardless it was enough for them to warn all the major 3rd party developers formally.  In fact we were all reminded about the agreements we signed with Control4.
As such our business practices changed to not develop any driver that contains reverse engineered code or if we do reverse engineer it we would create a partnership with the company to ensure that the APIs do not break and they understood that we were using them.
By partnering with these companies we ensure that there is no disruption to the home owners Control4 experience.
A good example of this is an upcoming driver we are about to release in the next week or so (we partnered with a company to do this).  Here is a sneak peak.
