cdepaola got a reaction from C4 User in Orro and c4 - single gang touchscreen
They can be purchased on Orro's website, maybe elsewhere, and possibly through your C4 dealer if they are set up as an Orro Pro.

cdepaola got a reaction from msgreenf in Orro and c4 - single gang touchscreen
We just picked up our first demo unit and got it installed this evening. So far…. Very impressed!
Excellent build quality, slightly deeper then a c4 dimmer but much easier to wire.
It’s a physical rocker switch with excellent feel, the capacitive touchscreen presses and swipe work well and the animations are smooth.
motion/occupancy sensor works well as does the Alexa microphone.
im super excited for the release of the driver which I’ve been told is hopeful for 2 weeks. If the integration is good, this will be a game changer.

cdepaola got a reaction from msgreenf in MyQ DriverCentral driver now completely dead?
Wow, this is really a hot topic!
If anyone wants to start a new tic-toc trend send me your LiftMaster and or Chamberlain openers and I'll deliver them to the their HQ front door and explain that these are from pissed of Control4 users.

cdepaola got a reaction from msgreenf in Best rail mount sensors for garage doors? and Z2IO question
Where do you live that you've seen this? Considerably easier and less obvious ways to break into a garage then cut a panel of the garage door...

Ted Lasso is the new best show on TV since Shitts Creek ended.

cdepaola got a reaction from Dueport in Entry Door Lock Options?
Unfortunately, at first glance, looks like Satin Nickle and Oil Rubbed Bronze are the only options... We really need black, the property has black doors and hinges, black trim, black windows, etc.
I may also get a Level and use the Veritas HomeBridge driver to try and integrate. I do feel like C4 and or the lock manufactures need to up the game, buyers at the upper end care about design and the option right now look like they are out of early 2000's

cdepaola got a reaction from CTMatthew in Control 4 and UniFi Dream Machine Pro (UDM Pro) Network setup
Agreed with all of the above, Unifi Protect integrates just fine. We've been super happy deploying Unifi UNVR with G4 Bullets and C4.

cdepaola got a reaction from RyanE in 85" TV
The differences in quality between these two TV's are going to be miniscule, it will be more about what brand you like better or what styling you like better. Personally I still prefer Sony over Samsung and have far less issues with things like IP control on the Sony vs Samsung. Right now it will also come down to which TV you can actually find, both have been on back order for months.

cdepaola got a reaction from Dueport in New Control4 Remotes coming 2021?!
We don't watch enough TV to have the buttons memorized, I always look at least once a session.

cdepaola reacted to Jonathan, C4 Engineer in Problem with Volume and volume slider on ios app
This has been submitted to the iOS team as a bug: CI-17379
I'll update this post when it has been resolved by the developers and begins to make it through to the beta and release phases.

Agreed, the way to go is Just-Add-Power or AVpro MXnet for your video distribution needs.

cdepaola got a reaction from msgreenf in Recommended Video Matrix Switch?
Skip the traditional matrix and go AV Pro Edge MXnet

cdepaola got a reaction from Dueport in Evaluating new install: Can I bring a PFSense box and Ubiquity AP's to the party?
First, and this is just my opinion, but the place to save money is not on one of the most critical aspects of you new home infrastructure. In this day and age, even if you weren't installing a Control4 system, home networks are being heavily taxed with home school, work from home, more and more streaming, more and more wireless IOT devices, etc. This means they need to be rock solid or your experience is not going to be pleasurable.
PFsense makes great stuff, but if your dealer knows zero about how they work or how to configure them properly then your experience and system performance may not be very pleasurable.
Araknis gear is... ok... I'd consider it budget gear compared to the majority of equipment available on the market. Its a bit more expensive then Ubiquiti gear with a bit less reliability and features. Ubiquiti makes good gear at a decent price but the margins are absolutely horrible, like $10 or less, on any given piece of equipment. This is why a lot of dealers hate the them. Personally we educate our clients on all of this and don't sell them on individual equipment costs but package costs that include our expertise, which allows us to make up some of that margin. We still lose some of the margin but our clients are getting quality networking gear, at a reasonable price, installed, configured, and eventually monitored by a single source. All of this leads to a better overall experience.
Shopping individual components of an install really is the worst thing you can do as a consumer, it might save you a few bucks on the front but what you lose is much bigger.
In the end if they aren't comfortable with anything other then Araknis and you're not then you may need to look for a dealer who carries other Unifi or other equipment. Just remember the grass isn't always greener and quality rock solid networking equipment that's well thought out comes at a price.

cdepaola got a reaction from ejn1 in Control 4 and ubiquiti
I'm currently on a project swapping out Luxul and Elan gear with Ubiquiti and C4. Thanks to the Elan dealer the job is a nightmare that we've spent around 60 hours on, and ended up switching almost two whole racks of stuff out. But to Cyk's point the labor can add up real quick.

That's the 4 year old post... 😄
Not familiar with the piece specifically, but if it can be used using a regular thermostat - you can get a number of t-stat solutions to integrate. Be it C4's own, Ecobee or others.
If it's proprietary, well then you may be stuck...unless there's a driver for them.
