Swapping to DIY gear would be an terrible down grade. You really can't compare it to C4. Like mentioned if you call a plumber for plumbing then you might as well call a qualified tech in to help with AV stuff.
but as far as DIY goes here's your best bet.
Harmony for Remotes
Sonos for Audio
Caseta for Lighting
Ring for doorbell/cameras
Nest For Thermostat.
MyQ for Garage
Alarm systems really aren't DIY but you could look at alarm.com
And that should replace most of the C4 system. But yea the stuff above sucks big time in comparison.

If Savant had more dealer support, they’d be hard to beat. The product has a more premium feel and is much smoother than Control4. I’m not bashing C4, I’m obviously using it. But it’s simply because there is only one dealer in my area and I cannot get support. Control4 is clunky. And even with the OS3 upgrade, still looks cheap. The only two things that keep it in my home is awesome support from the dealer I use; and that it works with may more third party devices. Otherwise, there is no comparison.

Dear Control4,

Please work with Ecobee to fix integration. A lot of us dealers and end users drank the Ecobee Kool-Aid and replaced Nest and C4 TStats. (At least one of us saved his Nest equipment and will be reinstalling until you guys work together to fix it). It leaves a bad taste in the mouths of our end users and creates angst towards the C4 ecosystem and us dealers that convinced clients it was a good decision. If you are reading this, you are likely a C4 employee (hopefully) dealer, tech or power user. 80% of Control4 homes are “set it and forget it”. We all take these issues in stride, but the 80%’ers get really bent over things like this. TStats are pretty important.

I cant tell my clients that they need to upgrade to a ca10, because of faster connection speeds..
I dont know how communication inside c4 works, but i dont know any other smarthome that needs so much time for the connection.

If you want rock solid, buy a Control4 thermostat.

We use Phillip hue outside sensors 

Also found quite a few bugs with the driver.  Including the above (sometimes) and if you have multiple panels (daughter panels) and a complex setup, it does not bring all of the lights and circuits through to C4.  My dealer has an open ticket with C4 and a promise that they will get to working on the bugs he reported.
By far the biggest miss is that you can not view and (more importantly) change the vacation setting from C4.
I also use the Intellicenter App most of the time.
Other, more significant shortfalls include limited pump control, no way of controlling colour of colour changing lights, no feedback of pump information (rpm, kWh, gpm etc.)

I have mine integrated. You can add generic control4 sensors in the project and bind the alarm sensors to them. I have push notifications going for doors, lights programmed to turn on at night when doors are opened and the alarm is on. They work great and are very fast to respond.

I also have a new busy light I built for my office with a RPI zero w.  It has an API that is working and I am writing a driver for it!

I believe alarm.com is the central monitoring service.  4sight is not a central alarm service.

With my security company, Surety, I can have an Alarm.com account without central monitoring, but not the other way around.  Not sure if other companies allow just the central monitoring for cheaper. 
 
If you don’t want/need central monitoring then you could probably self monitor with just the panel connected locally to Control4 and use 4sight subscription to remotely control and monitor. 

Nope not needed.  A wireless c4 relay with an extra myq remote.  And then NYCE tilt sensors on the door 
there is even a website that sells the remote with the wires already solder on so you just to put those end wires into the c4 wireless relay.  

The connection is made locally over WiFi. I don’t think you need an Alarm.com account or central monitoring, but I don’t know for sure since I have both setup with mine still. 

I'm having trouble finding someone to integrate my alarm system (Concord4, with 4.8 firmware, and superbus2000 installed). I would like to get someone who's set this up before and have experience with this matter. I have a control4 ca1 dedicated for this and a remote programmer who has attempted to set-up as best they could but still not working.  

I think we are well aware of your opinion.
If you think it's not a good deal, don't buy it.  It was released with announced features, and has added many features since then, and continues to add new features.
I thought it was a great remote then, and I think it's an even better remote now.

Doesn’t seem like a crazy request. Others have had it for a while. It was one of the reasons I bought the watch. Even when they did have one, it always malfunctioned. This savant watch app has always worked well.

Did you enable fast start per the instructions? 

"ROOM OFF" on SR-remote or touch screen turns the glowing LED on the WAP off. Useful if the WAP is ceiling/wall mounted in a sleeping area. 

Neeo Source selection: Touch a single button on the screen to select the Comcast box, or any of my Roku sources (Netflix / Hulu / Plex / Amazon Prime Video)
SR260 Source selection: Watch -> Menu -> Down button -> Down button -> Down button -> Enter.
Neeo Channel selection: Choose a channel favorite (with station artwork), or use the Channels/Stations driver to choose a station from the handful that I use regularly.
SR260 Channel selection: Remember the number for the station I want, enter it on the numeric keypad, and/or go into guide and scroll until I find it.
Neeo Dish Media shows artwork for all recordings, prime time anytime, and On Demand programming.

P.S.  You can also control lights, locks, and other stuff... 

I am seeing the same thing. Long load times of at least 20 seconds and then the screens don’t fully load. And suddenly my cameras are no longer showing the preview again.
