mujtaba.khokhar got a reaction from Waring192 in Simple doorbell that sends sounds the multi-room audio? Also C4 app notifications would be nice.
Any voltage free push button would work something, if you want one with with a light you can power it of the 12 input on the back of the processor.

There’s also a pod driver with some nice features

Thanks

Sounds to me like Control4 doesn't need to come at you.
You do you.
If you want to do something else, that's fine.
What's not as fine is denigrating Control4 on a forum that most people on the forum already have Control4, and are making it work for themselves, and posting incorrect information about Control4 just because you were unable to service a Control4 system because you were not a dealer.
Let it go, man. I think we're both better off doing what we do best... You don't have to do Control4 to be a good dealer, or a good person, but being an ass about it on here isn't a good look.

c4 just like any other automation system is only as good as its designer, programmer, and installer. having said that, we have systems that are extremely stable and never hear from clients until we send them info on new items or updates. but then we do have some hiccup jobsites, which are very few. its electronics, things go bad. some cheap parts are great and last forever and some dont. be prepared to set up the system properly, if you live in an area that has lots of power outages, put your rack on a ups. if you have lots of quick brownouts put all your cable boxes on small ups. design is important. c4 has been solid,

AND....Q-Sys has only been around for 4 years at most. So how he's been installing it for 15 years and it's been rock solid is questionable.

mujtaba.khokhar reacted to alanchow in Is Control4 what I need or X10?
Control4 actually has alot more drivers than QSC Q-SYS (they call it plugins). Over 10,000 vs under 100.
Ironically enough we're one of the only ones who write Q-SYS plugins and wrote the Just Add Power plugin for Q-SYS. So yay us for the reliability
Anyway probably shouldn't feed the troll since nobody wins so i'll going to end it here.

LOL.
I needed a laugh.
You're bitching about Home systems and calling the end-users people asking dumb questions...on a forum primarily aimed at helping end-users.
Then you go on about how long you've been doing things ... I just LOVE those type of justifications.
Then you complain about the fact that Control4 sets requirements that you didn't feel like meeting - poor baby.
Oh and then you go on about how you ripped out thousands of dollars worth of equipment (possibly 10's) and made your customer pay for a new system. Wonderful.
Oh and you decided to do it on a TEN YEAR OLD THREAD
So much to laugh about!
I've got NOTHING against QSC - it's a perfectly fine product for it's target clientele. But you're comparing ... not apples with oranges, but apples with sausages...
PS I've made some damn fine apple sausages on occasion 😉

Just as well he's been holding off making a decision for the last 10 years. You got here just in time.

That is only true for downloaded driver, default system drivers are not there. (Used to be LOOOOOOONG ago, maybe before 2.0 not anymore)

mujtaba.khokhar reacted to alanchow in Control4 and Solar Panels
I did mess around with it a bit but it was chugging due to the amount of data it was spewing out. Was spewing out data every 100ms and the HC250 i had at the time wasn't coping with it.
Honestly though if you want to monitor solar, incoming mains, etc just get eGauge.

native spotify for C4 is connect. Ask your dealer to add the "Add music" driver.

I guess they don’t do the faceplates anymore, maybe just the complete units...
Yeah it can pretty much all programmed,
You can get a feed to also display on t3 touchscreens and the onscreen display via a processor.
Thanks

There’s also a company who does custom front plates and the entire DoorBird unit if you don’t like the way it currently looks.

Might be of interest
Alternatively you could use the Ethernet wire it into a simple push button, bind it to a relay - program the button to execute an announcement when it’s pushed.

mujtaba.khokhar got a reaction from Elvis in C4 Remote Roadmap
Me I’ve used it!
I like it it’s pretty good, nice solid remote it doesn’t feel cheap and isn’t slippery.
it comes in a few different colours too (rose gold, white and black I think)
you have to have the Apple TV licence in order to be able to use the voice control.
the buttons are nice and tactile too, and backlit
connects via WiFi like many other remotes now days
(lol really hyping it up here)
thanks

mujtaba.khokhar got a reaction from janthony6 in 2n IP Verso with Intercom Anywhere?
The DS2 is is a 2n doorstation
Don’t quote me on this but I think you can buy the ds2 from Control4 and then buy the fingerprint or touch screen module from 2n connect it up and it should work.
I remember seeing something about this a while back on the dealer forums. Will see if I can dig it out
Thanks

mujtaba.khokhar got a reaction from discipulus1 in Mirage M-800 amp directly to EA5?
the m800 can do 50w per channel, 100w per zone.
its a class D amp and Autonomic claim to have a lot of technology bulit into the amp.
there are also a lot of DSP and EQ settings that you can adjust to your liking, make sure you have the amp setup via the web gui before the C4 integration.
the amps can also be stacked upto 90 or so odd zones.... lol
yeah you'll notice some improvement.
Thanks

mujtaba.khokhar reacted to eggzlot in Composer and hardware Doubts - OS3 and new setup
I agree
I've always thought there should be a Welcome sub forum or at the top of the General Forum have 2-3 Sticky's that never drop down. One could be a READ ME First, one could be simply titled Do not Ask for DIY/Pro access, whatever. any thoughts/complaints etc can be dumped there
not sure who moderates the boards these days though

Today I made some custom buttons and automated for the cleaners. When they arrive put in their code to the door lock on garage it will turn off the alarm, send a push notifying us, turn on all the lights, start their favorite Pandora station. Then added custom button for if I'm sleeping after an overnight shift; makes it so master bed lights don't come on, announcements are muted, and the normal music they listen to doesn't come through any zones near the master, master blinds don't go up. Similar for wife with a working button for when she works from home on Tues and Wed so she isn't interrupted. When they leave they hit the lock button on door and depending on custom buttons most all lights will go off, shades down, alarm rearm, push to notify they are leaving.
