It sounds like your switches are just doing L2.  The Mikrotik is handling all of your routing/L3.
Depending on your throughput requirements and how your network is configured, I may consider a 2x10Gbps LAG from the CCR to a distribution switch, and then uplink your other switches to the distribution switch.  This is likely overkill, though, and it really depends on how your network is currently configured.

    C4Forum Members,

I will be having a somewhat emergency surgery tomorrow at 9am.  I should be back in service by the weekend.  Just an FYI in case there is radio silence on my email or cell.  If I have pending work scheduled with you, please bear with me over the next few days.  At the latest, they tell me that I’ll be good by Monday.   I appreciate it as always folks!

    I have 5 VLANs:
"automation" which has all IOT/smart devices and my C4 controllers
"security" which has all of my security cameras (so that I am more easily able to restrict their access to the Internet and my LAN)
"general" which includes various wired PC's etc around the house
    "wlan-public" wireless for guests
    "wlan-private" wireless for me
I generally assign DHCP reservations for every "smart" device on my network.  It just makes things easier.

I'm not so sure there WAS any inventory to speak of.
    This is exactly my thought.
MY worry is that people get hyped on a touchscreen remote, it's not going to live up to expectation, and it will cause ill will in short order.

But as I've said before on this forum, I don't mind being proven wrong. Maybe this thing will be great.

funny how needs change - last year I would have hated this design because it has no physical # buttons and I could not channel surf on cable
A year later I cut the cord and use Hulu Live TV so I cannot easily go to various channels (which is annoying) but also makes the # buttons on the remote less important.

do what Crestron does - offer 2 remotes.  Fancy and non Fancy.  Those that want color and touchscreens and customizations will be looking at $800-$1000 but I am fairly sure C4 can offer something more elegant than the 260 for $300-$400.

LollerAgent reacted to jakblak in 4sight connection times on os 3
We have quite a few performance metrics inside of the OS3 app and one of those is cold-start time while remote (i.e. not on your local network) and the connection times in some regions, as many of you have experienced, is sub-optimal and outside of the range we feel is acceptable.  Obviously connection times are a YMMV type of thing that depends heavily on your home internet speed, size of your project, cellular signal, etc... but we definitely see connection times in these regions that fall outside of what is "normal".
While we are striving for faster connection times both locally and remote, our attention is fully focused on the customers in these regions where the connection times are higher than what the majority of our customers are experiencing.  As such, we have formed a cross-functional team to address the problem at a team level as well as holistically.
It will take us some time to make these changes and roll them out, but I wanted to let everybody know that we understand the difficulty and the frustration and we are committed to fixing it.
I have now received several reports about this and have received logs from @Anish (thanks btw), and I have an engineer looking into the problem as I'm typing this.  I will create a post (or update here) when we figure out, and fix the issue.

As others have said, disconnect everything from your switch(es) and connect devices 1-2 at a time to figure out if it's a single device causing the issue.

LollerAgent reacted to anon2828 in Best RGB + WW LED Tape & Zigbee Controller
Asked and answered 100 times, I know, but I need an updated viewpoint:
Q1: Best brand of RGB + WW (RGB and warm white 3000k color temp) LED tape.  To be used in ceiling recesses, so doesn't have to be perfect, but has to last because I don't want to be on a ladder once per year.
Q2: Best brand /model of LED tape controller for RGB + WW that is Zigbee compatible with Philips Hue Bridge (so I can use driver to integrate to Control4) and also works with Amazon Alexa.
    Appreciate the input.

Really depends on the usage, but most people over on ipcamtalk.com will recommend the Dahua Starlight 2MP/4MP models due to their excellent night-time performance.  Yes, you only need a single CAT cable to go to the camera for both power+data.  I would recommend checking out this wiki page [1] for lots of information on configuration, setup, model selection, etc.
I said I wasn't going to do it.. but I ended up building a Blue Iris NVR as well.  The main reason is that it's compatible with a wide variety of camera brands - not just Dahua.  I have a few other brands sprinkled in my project for various reasons.  I haven't really messed with it too much yet, but it seems to be working fine.  I don't actually use the BI driver for C4 right now - I just integrate each camera individually.  I guess I may change that in the future though.

There is no PC/Mac app for OS3.  You'll need to emulate the Android app using something like BlueStacks.

If it still doesn't work after updating the firmware. You could get a Ruckus and make a WiFi they can connect to.
That would at least make them stable, not sure if your phone would also need to be on the same WiFi.
(Personal opinion, toss the Ubiquiti, get a real network).
