But as always: if you look behind the scenes and just add up the component cost, you´ll get mad. Shouldn´t do that - you´re buying a solution, not a piece of hardware. 🙂

Wireless video transmission is iffy at best, and only (truly, consistently) reliable at huge cost - and even then you would NOT want to do it for gaming, the delay would ruin the experience.

Sure, the thing is i´m not aiming for ALL clients. 🙂
I didn´t say a customer needs to be skilled for troubleshooting. I was refering to customers who just shop the latest and greatest gear, throw it on your table to integrate and then are disappointed that it´s difficult/impossible to integrate it properly.

Just a word of advise, DIY systems is a pain in the ass, you will regret this move for the rest of your life, upgrading firmware and drivers all of the time, fixing breaking things and sudden changes will make your life miserable specially if you hate tech or you growing tired of it ... 

I purchased and recently installed a 100 foot Bifale HDMI 2.1 Fiber Optic Cable from AVR to TV. I am now able to set the AppleTV video setting to Dolby Vision and it looks great.

Overused, sure, but it's also the number 1 reason home automation/control systems don't work.
Look, do what you want in the end. But if you want easy control over a complete house, no DIY system will do everything you want (unless you're there to work on it 24/7).
Biggest issue that I see in this thread is that people are trying to control devices that don't want to be controlled.
YOU CANNOT expect to 'have all this stuff' and just have it work (C4, ELAN, Crestron, whatever - doesn't matter).
OP, you've had the worst luck. Sonos, MyQ...
But in the end, the problem with those is still the 'other' party.
SONOS broke the old API (and implemented a poor excuse of a replacement).
MyQ made the changes, and has since stated they are refusing to create an official API.
Why complain that C4 doesn't have the 124+ zone honeywell, when there are alternatives available (and no, you cannot tell me those alternatives are worse -or better- in any particular way.?
 
If you're building a new system, match the devices with what works best. Don't look at the device first, look at the integration first. MOST MAYOR brand devices that don't integrate well don't integrate well because they aren't able or willing to MAKE it work well on their side.

Yep, totally agree.
On our course, the people with the most problems where some older guys with a more traditional electrician background (from sockets and cables to "programming").
But if you´re coming from IT, you shouldn´t have any issues.

So I finished 3 out of the 4 certifications that control4 has to offer. 1 more to go.. the networking one. Just need to save up some money for that one

Well, it´s runthrough of everything, from the basics to the bit more sophisticated stuff.
First, you learn the basics, then you work on a real world example. Then you learn another piece, then real work examples, and so on. Last day is a multiple choice test and a final practical exercise that covers most of what you learned the days before.
The course was actually my very first contact with C4 (i´ve experience in other systems) and it went pretty well.

Save your money on buying Audioquest.  Can't believe people still spend $$$ for snake oil cables.
 
Best passive fiber HDMI= Ethereal InstallBay.
One side is source and the other display, so it is directional.  Very slim and easy to pull through conduits, if required.  I have every length installed in many installs for quite a long time with zero issue. 

It could be now with current models but with my JVC which is first gen with 4K e-shift it was required to add.   JVC even published instructions for it.

For what it's worth, that had been my approach as far as High Lamp only for HDR (and 3D) for the past several years, for exactly this reason.  But edit: *not* long after getting the NX7, I've changed it.  I have a large screen (160" diagonal 2.35:1), and so generally have the iris wide open, for both Low and High Lamp.  What I decided is to keep it in High Lamp, even for non-HDR content, and then close down the Iris to the same light output as I was getting in Low Lamp.  This increases the contrast significantly, for a better picture overall.  And if I then need to replace the bulb sooner than otherwise, I'm okay with that.  I've spent so much on this stuff that what's an extra bulb going to mean?? 😁

Well, isn´t it the idea behind colored lights that you can change the color as you believe? And the whole idea behind an integrated user experience is not to use different apps/UIs to control the system....

I know, but that shouldn´t be the excuse that it´s not available.
Of course you don´t select a differen color of choice every  day. But for instance i´ve got a different system than C4 installed in my house and with that, you can just select your preferred colors and then save it as par of a lighting scene. Not a big deal, but it should really just be possible.

There are so many other factors to choosing a projector:
application
brightness required
screen size
native aspect ratio
throw distance
ambient light levels
budget
 
Go and speak to a professional and get them to sort it for you.  

And that for a good reason.
I think control systems should concentrate on controlling. You´re talking about adding services to a control system that don´t belong there, they just make them more complex and more complex means more possibilities of issues. The control system needs to be stable as a first priority. There are already devices out there that can handle the additional services home users are excited about. Integrate them into an overall solution and everybody´s happy.
But i doesn´t make much sense to build them into a controller.

Problem with ideas like this is that they have always ended under used, undervalued and soon outdated.
The trend of 'all in one' is NOT a good one in my opinion - still can't believe the local phone company now does Phone, Internet, TV, Cameras and security all in one device (and no battery back up....) and gets away with it. There are SO many reasons to keep certain functions seperated, and very few of value to put it all in one.
I'm seriously asking WHY it would be better to have a C4 controller with PLEX built in vs a C4 controller and a PLEX server (or the option to use a regualr NAS and KODI, or Kaleidoscape, or ......)
And no, one less HDMI connection is not a valid point.

Why do you think it´s a general problem with the brand?  If there are issues with a network, replacing the equipment with another brand would be very, very low in the list.
Networking is not trivial to setup and a lot of components need to work with each other.
There are lots of things that can cause issues: misconfigured switches, misconfigured endpoints, badly behaving endpoints, for wifi often (mostly) the endpoint is the problem, not the AP, cable issues, etc.
You said "i began working with my original dealer" - has that changed? Who did setup the network?

I personally dislike the Matrix Amp as its not nearly as flexible as separate pieces. However as for options...
Audio Control makes hands down the best Audio/Matrix amps and DSP MultiZone Amps.  You do pay a huge premium for their stuff, but its top of the line. 
Additionally the new 4 and 8 zone Matrix Amps from Anthem are really nice, have sub out, and can do Anthem Room Correction on all zones. 
Both of these include digital in/out's  and have good Control4 Drivers.   I would say the Anthem pieces are a good price competitor to the C4 Triad stuff. 

In order to use those drivers, you need the ES box.  C4 sends 232 commands to this box, then the box sends DMX data to the lights.
Fantastic drivers and hardware.  Ive been running it in my own home for about 5 years now and keep adding more and more LV lighting.
