This image often pops up.  An HC800 can do up to full CD quality and it seems that it can do Tidal Hifi at the same bitrate.  It really is a shame that the EA-1 (which should be called an EA-0) doesn't have audio outputs other than HDMI, and they don't recommend that you use it for audio in a whole home solution due to sync issues.

The EA-1 is newer but it doesn't have all of the outputs that the HC-800 does.  For example, dedicated audio outputs.  You need these to feed an amplifier to play music from music files on your network, or for streaming audio sources like Tidal, Amazon Music, Spotify (via Spotify Connect) or Apple Music (via Shairplay). The EA-1 also does not have ports for relays or sensors which you may, or may not, need. But the HC-800 does not give you on-screen info if you are on the latest Control4 OS, which is OS3.  I continue to use an HC-800 as my main controller but I have several other controllers as well, both HC-800s, an EA-3 and an EA-1. The main reason for the other controllers is IR blasting and audio outputs.

For me the biggest benefit of water/faucet integration is turning on the taps to start the hot water flowing.  I have an on-demand natural gas water heater that is on the basement, and my Master Bedroom is in the second floor.  It takes a good minute or so until the water is hot enough for the shower.  So that would have some benefit for me - much less for the kitchen.

Yes it works with any mqtt broker you need to configure zwavejs2mqtt on which broker it needs to connect

I like to came up with the most complicated way to control my home  zwave was connected to C4 via Vera but vera does not like the fibaro dimmers too much it is too slow if you control a scene, than i moved to native zwave on c4 for the dimmers but again the native zwave on c4 was slow and unreliable. In the meantime i used home assistant to translate some devices via http and mqtt to C4. Than i moved all my devices to zwavejs and i was amazed by the speed  so now i’m using home assistant and node red to get states from zwavejs to c4 via C42WAY driver which accepts http commands in C4 and use generic tcp driver from chowmain to send http commands to Home Assistant. And just started to thinker with berto mqtt IoT gateway and etc drivers to see if i can simplify things. Back to your original question Home Assistant has a lousy ui and there is a lot of work to achive simple thing C4 has a great Ui that is why i’m using C4 plus i’m controling my AV via C4
 
p.s. I forgot i use home assistant also to expose all my devices to homekit

The "room off" only shuts off AV, not lighting.  So it will shut off any TV, music, etc but it does not control lighting. You will need to create a lighting scene to do that.

Absolutely, I am surprised that C4 hasn't moved even more to a subscription model, other than 4Sight.  I guess the trick here is how does it get split between the dealer and C4?  Most subscription models don't have a dealer in the middle.

Thanks, I will have to look into that.  Currently I don't pull anything directly from the Ambient, in the Ambient setup I have it dumping data to Wunderground and everything else came through their.

These are primarily in my living room and dining room and are controlled by four six-button keypads in various parts of those rooms.  To be honest, the number or loads is overkill and more of these could have been grouped - my designer and/or electrician went a bit too crazy.  They control several zones of pot lights, sconces, lights hanging over the DR table, floor LEDs, etc.  I rarely get so discrete that I only want a couple of these on.
But how this works for the most part in real life - a scene automatically comes on at sunset. I may occasionally turn on an additional light or two.  At bedtime I hit an "All Off" button. Like a lot of HA the theory in terms of what you can do is a lot fancier then what you end up doing on an everyday basis.

How hard would it have been to put an analog stereo output on an EA-1?  I really hope that they do include that when they replace the EA-1.

Yes, Bluestacks does allow you to do this, but Bluestacks in full of adware for games and is 99.9% focused on games and pushing you to install games. Being able to run the Android apps natively without needing anything would be useful.

This is absolutely the way that they should be going.  This is the way things work with the Unifi Controller and I don't see any reason why C4 couldn't be the same.  And not just for a Navigator, also for Composer HE.
