    agreed
Used to use the driver, way happier with the hard wired solution for the points mentioned here.

We don't know the details of that agreement and what they are allowed or not allowed to do.  If you want to have good working relationship with partners it doesn't make sense to use this a conduit to get access to MyQ without discussing it with MyQ first.
If you go back and read some of my older post you will see that I was very critical of using the hacked methods with relays and soldering it to a remote.  I'm now on the side of this being the preferred method.  The slowness of MyQ to update and the annoying delayed close with beep is not something I'm interested in.  Now that I've been running the relay/sensor for some time, I'm sold.

this is one of the few reasons I have a video matrix and continue to use one.  I can also pipe in audio (That is in sync) into "audio only" rooms like a bathroom, the kitchen, etc.

Sent an IT person makes sense.  I’ll stick to my comments.  99.98% of the population doesn’t know what IP control means for an Apple TV.

sorry for your first world problems.  If they are buying a 5m house they can rip it out for crestron with the money they wipe their a$$ with on a Tuesday afternoon.

Would love to see those tech guys look at your web server UI in a 5m house.  That must excite them

99.98% of the population has no clue what IP control means.   So the odds of selling a 5m home and the buyer asking that singular questions - you should go buy a lotto ticket tonight that’s all

a clown who likes to try new things on their clients that's for sure!
I get that.  Which is why I said it is still a luxury add on to an already priced luxury platform.  I could imagine having 7-10 TVs and 1-2 boxes behind each one and having to troubleshoot 1 down box or change your netflix password and now go do it 10 times on each TV, oh wait you dont have netflix anymore but you put that $15 towards Paramount plus, now go download it and set it up 10x in the house.  There is some upkeep with having 15-20 devices and keeping OS updated, apps updated, passwords updated, etc.
I still think the biggest selling point for us was sharing video/audio across the house all in sync.
And for what it is worth, forget about "sync" - streaming apps tend to be behind, so not great for live sports, especially if your cell phone gets various updates before you see what happens it can be annoying....

Distribution of content.  Cable content or a streaming service content
not sure why cable content is something to distribute but streaming content shouldn’t be distributed?
to me sports are a big one.  I can watch a ufc fight on cable or a streaming service.  Same with the Super Bowl.  Or any other big live shows or events where large groups can gather to watch

My wife sometimes rolls her eyes at what I've done with the house and even more so when I tell her what I plan to upgrade, remove, etc.  1-2x I got to a point where I thought about ditching the centralized video distribution.  When I told my wife about it she asked "does this mean no more PiP when someone rings the door" or "now when we have our big superbowl party the TVs won't be sync like at my mom's house" I got the hint to keep in the system and expand on it.
There are some good use cases for video distribution, even today with all the streaming boxes and smart tvs out there.  Is it required, no.  Is it a very useful feature once you have it, yes.  It is an expensive luxury, but then again so is most of Control4.

I'd think a Toyota dealers knows what Honda and Nissan are up to and will tell you why the comparable Toyota is better than the Honda or a Nissan.  They may not know about Lamborghini, but they know the other cars in their direct competitive market.

I use Kwisket, no real complaints.  My two cents, get ones that have native drivers versus cloud/3rd party drivers.  I also like Kwikset for the "smart key" feature as it is easy to get all locks using the same key without a locksmith.  I think Baldwin may have that feature too but not on the line that is C4 compatible.

A dealer also may have a conversation, see its older equipment and say hey look, I'll get you set up with a new account, but stop by the showroom, see what OS 3 can do.  Oh wait, its only controlling a TV in the basement and some lights, have you thought about WHA....oh you just moved in and need 6 TVs and need them mounted, we'll do that too so you don't have to bother with Best Buy and give you a better experience....
A good dealer would listen, and find a potential way to upsell other services to a new home owner - and to be clear, NEEDED/DESIRED services not just snake oil.
Yes it is my mindset because I am in sales, but I'll listen to any potential client then gauge if their opportunity is the right fit for my services, it is a 2 way street.

I live in southwest Florida which has a great deal of lightning during our 6 month rainy season plus assorted brown-outs throughout the year.  To manage power for the house, we put whole house surge protection in the electrical service panels, a dedicated circuit to the main network, AV and HA equipment rack, plus surge/UPS/power conditioning in the rack (Wattbox).  WAPs are POE from the rack.  We don’t do surge protection at our TV outlets.
Knock on wood! - we haven’t had an equipment failure due to power in our 5 years in the house.  We also installed whole house surge protection at our previous home in GA and had 5 years without problems.
So I’m a believer in whole house surge protection.  But it is not the full solution. You need to look at the circuits you use to power your critical/most expensive equipment and determine what else may be on those circuits. HVAC and appliances should not be on those circuits or any other high amp devices.  And local surge, etc. is recommended.

The goal is to keep externally generated surges out of the house as much as possible and also protect key equipment against internally generated surges.  A good electrician can do wonders for you and I believe there is an ROI in reliability and up-time for their fee.

I do have 1 for each service I have (2 total). Do need electrician to install. Units themselves are pretty cheap.
