I plan to work on getting shade support eventually, but I've been a bit busy lately with day job and COVID stuff.  RE integration, my driver can only support exposing C4 stuff into HomeKit.  There's no way that I'm aware of right now to bring HomeKit stuff into C4.

I contacted RoomMe a month ago and they are working on a new smaller version that will be available at end of the year, I will wait till the new hardware comes out, but that’s me. Am sure Alan’s driver is flawless, never got any driver from chowmain that is not performing.

I have to give huge props to David been running his drivers for MQTT since early days and even since then been using it on some pretty sensitive equipment i.e. my solar farm running my house that publishes to MQTT.

His support willing to add features and help directly has been nothing short of phenomenal so thank you David!

The MQTT driver just opens up the world of C4 to so much more

    Regards

Zigbee2MQTT is WIP,  just taking longer than expected. Testing product from China and it’s not arriving fast enough surprise surprise!

RF Bridge support is included in the current beta release and due out in production next week. The update around the IoT drivers is quite major as I've consolidated and, hopefully, simplified much of the setup. There is support for buttons, motion sensors and contacts, also using mulitple RF Bridges coverage is easily extended.
In terms of scalability I have systems running into 100's of devices running on VMWare instances with 1Gb RAM and 1 CPU, mostly simple BMS sytems with ligting and relays. I use Pi 4's with 4Gb and have a system in the field with over 260 Tasmota devices and the load average is never above 1!
What IoT Broker are you running?
The new IoT suite comprises of 4 drivers, Berto_IOTGateway, IOTLight, IOTDimmer and IOTGeneric, which between them all provide integration to 1000's of devices running the Tasmota firmware, Shelly hardware, Sonoff DIY, Lifx bulbs and Flic buttons as well as any other custom MQTT devices. Other useful additions to the IoT suite are WebView which provides direct browser access to local devices from T3 touchscreens, useful for managing RGB color selection on Shelly devices and WebServer for bi-directional access to your main controller to interrogate/control any device in your Control4 system including REST and Websockets.
The IOT Gateway also links to Apple Homekit devices via a local Berto Hub (Pi 4 MQTT Broker) and Google Assistant using the Berto Assist service.
All drivers are free to download and use under a Basic subscription model which allows unlimited use of any single driver in a system. Multiple instances of a driver in a system available under a Premium subscription. The Premium subscription is an annual cost that gives unlimted use of all Berto drivers to a single system both current and future drivers.
Whilst the IOT Gateway supports device discovery and control using mDNS and HTTP, the use of an MQTT broker provides a better realtime experience along with support for other proprietary third party devices such as Apple Homekit and Flic buttons. I can supply a Berto Hub (Pi 4 POE in a case) for €150 which includes one years Premium subscription if your interested?
Other integration drivers include IFTTT, Pushover and Mail using your own SMTP service plus several other video/utility drivers. See http://berto.io for more info about the drivers available and feel to PM me any questions.
    Thanks
    David

    Life goes on gentlemen!
In my case when I went for a full home automation solution; and I’m an electronics engineer; I opted for C4! Received a quote and negotiated a cost plus job when I felt prices on hardware were inflated, my dealer was decent enough and transparent, also made suggestions to cut cost, explained pros and cons of every component and add on!
He also suggested that I take parts of the solution as am tech savvy like network and also suggested me to hook up everything and he do programming and integration to cut labor cost? Odd? He gained a very satisfied customer and I did recommend him to tons of my friends 🙂

You can specify manual IP assignment for all C4 gears, it’s much better, you make a reservation for gear that doesn’t allow the feature e.g. Roku, Echo’s, lamps, etc

You only option after WiFi is lan over powerline, use Global Cache iTach TCP/IP to Contact Closure (Relay) and a pair of TP-Link AV2000, total cost would be around $250 or more. GC have a driver in C4 database!

Yes, all devices actually should have reserved IP on the DHCP server or if you can manually enter the IP it’s the best practice, only guest network should be left for no reservation.

There is a handful of devices for shades coming out in the market, but all is Bluetooth, It’s $45 a piece I bought one to try out and might integrate to C4 via AB4 later.

i was thinking of a change, maybe /22 for fun.....easy to sepreate dhcp, from static and other blocks and keep on same network.  See how large I can go before the router blows up.

My 2 cents. UniFi is very powerful, solid system, running for 5 years. Zero issues if you don’t touch it, tinkering is a plus if you know what you are doing, I will never try anything else 😊

Wink decided to suddenly charge $4.99/month with a one week notice, pay or you immediately loose your smart home automation! This is clear; the decision to go locally and abandon any reliance on Hubs/clouds is the only way to go for HA! Long live Tasmota/ESPurna!

Lots of HA is going out of business, am really happy for my decision to go with a high end HA like C4, then the developments, amount of integrations and even DIY integration that exists nowadays is great and fulfilling my passion 😃

I’m an end user, my advise to you if you still need to go C4 route; and you should 😊; is to gradually execute your project, you need to find a decent deal on initial hardware kit, this will take some time and some negotiations, then expand your system and you have great remote dealers here to help you achieving this path.
Am working for a fortune 500 IT company, and margins on a job doesn’t really go less than 15 to 20%, anything less than that will put partners out of business not to mention to remain healthy and to keep employing best talents!
It’s very difficult for wise buyers who are tech savvy to be convinced easily but you still can make good deals and have a decent working system with Nearly zero downtime, for an HA system this what you really should look for, my 2 cents 😁

Nope. C4, just like many many (damn near everyone) other manufacturers provides extra incentives for moving boxes.

I’m curious what you do for a living that allows you to obviously be financially secure enough to drop 6 figures on HA and obviously much more on a house but you think 5-7% margins are realistic and that you have basically no idea how the manufacturer dealer relationship works
No one, and i mean no one invests time and money to become a dealer of any product to give it away.

Now to explain why it’s a dealer model and not a diy model - this is for everyone that doesn’t understand.
It’s hard enough to support dealers that actually understand the design, installation and programming of the systems.
If i call it’s a real issue and quite often a bug now a days.
There are a lot of dealers to support.
NOW if it was a diy model, support agents would have to triple or more as they would have many more calls from individuals that are clueless. Don’t believe me, no problem. Look no further than harmony killing their remote line because they lost millions a year on support.
If that POS product is loosing that much on something that is extremely limited what do you think would happen to a product that is actually capable.

Anyone can come up a argument about how they are “right” but the reality is there is a reason why there are diy setups vs. professional.
If you want to have complete control and feel as if your getting the best deal possible go look at Samsung smartthings.
If you want a more polished solution that is far more capable with great support than it’s time to understand this is the model in place and move on.

Sometimes i think this is dumbest group of smart people around.
It’s ok for the end user to make a great living but it’s not ok for the integrator to make a modest living? Gee thanks.

I also dropped my water spending by more than half since day 1 on Rachio compared with family and friends who uses regular irrigation systems with similar house size.
Its no brainer really, I tied my Ratio to the closest WS and it’s automatically skips watering if it rains or it senses any change in temperature, I didn’t touch it in 3 years. It’s set it and forget kind of hardware. It works outside US and pretty powerful honestly and their support was great when I started setting it up, super really.
